I am originally from Hilo hop from Mountain View I always go to visit Rainbow Falls that is my idol for sure used to go up to old kpoa radio station with Walter used to broadcast on the air I have never ever seen the Rainbow Falls with that amount of water that is history for sure I'm glad someone went into some pictures of Rainbow Falls I'm not in the islands anymore I'm in Texas it's so wonderful that someone got to put that on TH-cam I appreciate it so much bring me a lot of memories when I was a kid always looking at Rainbow Falls that is one spectacular Falls and River amazing I wish we had some water here is bone dry we never had any rain at all everything is dried up here thank you so much for bringing back old memories Aloha b r a d a

We have been to the big Island many times , always enjoyed it. Most times it rained in Hilo and Sun in Kona. Hilo is used to rain. I have been in so great down pours coming over the saddle road to Hilo, you just hit a wall of rain as you head down to Hilo. Seeing the falls roar is quite a show.
Ken's House of Pancakes is our family's "must stop to eat" when visiting Hilo. That is a lot of water over Rainbow Falls! WOW!

With all that rain, we just knew you'd go to Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots. No way could you resist it.
Excellent video! Brought back memories of my teenage years in the 70's swimming and jumping off the cliffs and rocks from Piihonua to KPUA, to Boiling Pots, Rainbow Falls etc.etc. I personally knew of 2 guys that jumped off Rainbow Falls and my good friend dove off of the concrete bridge above the white arch bridge that goes to Wainaku.
Now, that's spectular.

Wow that’s a huge amount of water ! I might be wrong and I know you have filmed it before after heavy rain but I think that’s the most water I’ve ever seen going over those falls .

Oh damn, I love the big Island. Used to have a place up in Eden Roc, but it wasn't going to work out long term and we traded it for a nice house in down town La Paz. I miss Puna and Hilo but did get to enjoy it for a while. I've done this drive more times than I can count. So nostalgic, even after a storm.

We were just there at Rainbow Fall last Thursday.
In the last week of December 2023 we had 55 inches of rain in 5 days followed up by another 11 inches overnight. I live in the wet tropics of Queensland Australia. So far in the 9 months we have had close to 140 inches.

I’ve seen people swim in the pool below that. It’s not safe because the water funnels into a tube. Dead. But nothing would get you in there now. Lol First time there it started racing. Ran to the car while the local fella opened his umbrella, laughing.
Well this is creepy. I was watching a storm chaser with a Florida hurricane. Streets and buildings are the same shape and placement. As are in this video. Weird.
