I have done similar as I needed some ghost marines for an encounter. However, I painted their eyslenses (Helmeted) in screaming green. and gave them their emblem in same green on the shoulder. ONE colour, not much, can really make them pop.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist

Great monochromatic look especially for ghosts. I think if you were to hit them with a glow-in-the-dark or black light reactive paint for the final step it would really set off that ghost look. Great job keep up the good work! Can you put a link for where you got the plague Marine look alike miniatures please?

Cool idea - love the skeletor-vibe. I would still add one color for contrast , like blue or green. I did something similiar with the crimson court, and the only color apart from the slapchop base was red on chosen areas, like a gem, eyes, bits of armor etc - it works really well. 👍

Yep. I did an entire box of HATE miniatures only using the black, gray and white "slap chop" primer without adding any contrast paint. They turned out great. In fact, they look very close to the original art from the graphic novel that the game was based on.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist

The clear bases are cool, I have always done just plain black bases because I feel that its easy to forget that its there. I feel like basing can ruin the immersion a bit, like when you have a desert base but you are playing on a winter/snowy board.

Just fyi cutting away from yourself might be safer but gives you even worse control of your blade. Cutting towards yourself is the recommended approach, you just need to maintain good form and not go completely ham with the blade. You shouldn't be using a scalpel blade for anything that will snap forward at the final stage of cutting,.
