I drooled over the 97 when it came out. Back then we were still using using scopes that were nearly as wide as a car and were as tall as the guy using it. Now two of them sit in my junk room and I use my 4 channel 190. It was an easy jump as the keypad is nearly the same.
I’m drooling over the Fluke 98 Automotive Scopemeter because of the custom automotive menus like ignition and relative compression. Are the new Fluke 120B 2 channel or 190C 4 Scopemeters better?
That's great they allowed this conversion. I feel like I'm watching a VHS tape. Thanks for taking the time to convert this tape. I like the ASE certification comment in the beginning. These days new techs only know how to plug into the ODBC2 and read the errors with all the computers on new cars monitoring a lot of these systems. I wonder if we can build a simulator?
Agree. I was real happy when they responded. I have not even looked at that little demo board. It is still in the plastic and I assume it works. If you are interested, I can take some good photos of it and post them up on the eevblog site.
That's a good link. I had some that were long enough but a little too narrow. I tried one and wow did that make a difference! I plan to order some of the 10X10s. I also had a bad cap in one of mine that I replaced. Too bad they don't offer a replacement case, gaskets and rubber boot.
Glad i could help. I opened scopemeter to have a look but i am not sure if its the circuitry or the electroluminescent panel by itself that causing the problem as i didnt have a multimeter on me.. I am in south africa now and apparently in this side of the world you cannot get the EL panels to buy. there is actually a lot of stuff i cannot get here. Luckilly i was back in europe for holidays managed to get a few things for my electronics hobby :) i think i will get the EL panel from one of the old laptops if any of them come with actual panel and not CCFL tube. I have a couple "donors" for this case ready :) Let me know how you go
I’ve recently acquired one and was wondering if I needed a 10:1 attenuator adapter for my test leads before I connect to unit or do you just set the probe to 10:1 setting and use the same test leads? I should also mention that I’m looking to measure stuff like ignition and injector wave forms and was worried about high voltage spikes.
I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish but I strongly suggest you start by downloading and reading the manual for the scope. Like any other scope, I am sure it could damaged if used incorrectly. As a matter of fact, one of the two I had bought had some damage to the front end from an over voltage condition.
hello, if your allow it, I have made a remasterized sound and image quality of this amazing video. The purpose is that TH-cam will be able to recognize language and automatiquely translate it for many people. If you see any disagreement I will delete the video, thanks (the description will describe your upload and purposes).
I do not work for Fluke and have no rights to this video what so ever. Asking my permission to take Fluke's property makes no sense what so ever. I spoke with Fluke's legal department to gain approval to release it and have written consent to do so.
@@joesmith-je3tq because this video is on your channel and because I am polite I ask you. This is the rule of YT. That's ok of course and you're right. The non sense for you is a normal thing for me. Thanks, it will make a translated video.

Very important information. I have an updated PCB assembly, Ordering code : 4022 245 0419.3 in my Fluke 97 Scope Meter; where can I get the circuit diagrams for this PCB?
Great video thanks, just want to say is there a way to replace lcd screen into TFT display in fluke 97 scope meter it will be great if It could be done, lcd screen of Fluke 97 is garbage . Can't see anything clearly.
Help my fluke 196 the keys do not work as if I was blocking I do not understand which keys combine I'm left blocking I can only turn off and turn on help some solution of someone
great video.. should of had this info years and years ago...:/ also, engine computers can run in winter and summer heat and mostly work great...:) ROCKWELL industrial PLC computers need constant care and require 1000s of dollars of software/firmware with cabinet air cooling systems...:(,,, just keep making great car computers... thanks a lot...:)
Isolated as in a transformer or an optical interface, no. If you need isolation, with this scope you would want to use two scopes, or take two separate measurements. The manuals for the scope are on-line and are a good place to find answers to any questions you may have about it.

Thank you for converting this and getting permission yo share it.
Thank you!
They sound like a cool company that they’d actually grant you that permission!

I need to change the EL in one of mine as well.
Hi

Many thanks Joe...
In fact, it started as a Philips PM97
Indeed and we have a whole thread dedicated to them.
Thank you for your upload. I will read thru it.
Thanks for the video Joe!
Big thanks to Fluke for sure.
Big thanks to fluke for the equipment!
Very very good sir
Thanks sir

Can anyone tell me how to test an rca cable signal with this? I just have the 97, not the auto.
Thanks for posting. Would you happen to have the hard copy of the training course?
Thanks.
wish the picture was clearer

Can't see anything clearly.
Given enough money and time, you could go to the moon. Personally, I would rather just get the scope I wanted.
50MHz bandwidth at 25 megasamples per second..... What ?
My 4GHz DSO has a sample rate of 40MSPS. Big difference between single shot sample rate and repetitive sample rate.

How did we ever enjoy VHS? I can barely watch this. lol
We weren't exposed to better quality. It looked better
