Yup that’s ANA is a good option! if you… 1. have Amex points. Only Amex points transfer to ANA 2. Can find the roundtrip availability. ANA only lets you book round trip award tickets 3. hope availability sticks around during the 2-3 business day transfer time 😬 ANA is a great deal if you can meet all three criteria above. Thanks for the suggestion I’ll pin your comment!
@@MaxMilesPoints Another reason, at least in late 2022, is insane ANA fuel surcharges, which are over 800 USD round-trip. To me, that makes Air Canada a better value redemption, especially since it’s an instant transfer.
Thank you for this video and the previous one with Etihad Airways. I was able to book an around a world trip for me and my fiancée our honeymoon for 2023! Being Canadians it is kinda hard as we don't have much options or routes but I was able to get YYZ - AUH (3 day stopover) - KUL there and SIN - TPE (3 day stopover) - LAX - YYZ back all in business class for 92,500 Aeroplan points each!! Flying Etihad Airways and EVA Air, we are so excited and its all thanks to you and your videos :D
Just redeemed ANA economy HNL to Japan using Aeroplan points with a 30% boost via Chase at 3 cents per point. On the way back, redeemed Alaska miles for a Japan Airlines 1st class flight Tokyo to NYC at 23 cents per point. Loving this game!
@@911eVoX People can choose how they want to redeem their points. It doesn't have to be business class. Everyone travels differently, economy is ok too!
Can also get a similar deal to Bangkok with aeroplan. Got round trip in business for two for 350k and like $200 from IAD to BKK. Did it during the Amex 30% bonus!
Awesome video Max! I actually did almost the exact same redemption recently for next year, using the extra 5000 points for a stopover to combine Japan and Taiwan! I was surprised to see so much availability on EVA from the west coast.
@@MaxMilesPoints Team west coast! I wonder if this wide open EVA availability is *that* common, or it's a new occurence? Just used this strategy get a Biz class flight from Da Nang to Seoul for 30k miles on EVA! Neither point.me or seats.aero tracked this route so this was a huge benefit! Since i already had miles with air canada, it made much more sense to go this route vs. 40k points with Delta and have to transfer amex points.
I’m definitely going to do this one day. Can’t wait to eat at the night markets again! I seem to remember reading about how you can go very far past the stopover city. For example, could you theoretically go LAX-TPE-BNE or even to VIE on just 5000 extra points? Thx for another well explained video!

Can you please make a video about booking a flight for one airline on another airline website? Like Qatar can be booked on British airways website or Delta on Virgin Atlantic and so on. Thank you in advanced.
Yup Air Canada still charges 5k but in this case the additional flight from TPE to BKK adds enough miles that the itinerary gets bumped to the next award band. LAX - TPE falls in the 5,001 - 7,500 mile band so it 75,000 one way LAX - TPE - BKK falls in the 7,501 - 11,000 miles band so it's 87,500 one way + 5,000 one way a little tricky and didn't want to make the video too long explaining that part 😅
Awesome video. I am a total newbie here. At this point just collecting points for future travel. Mostly chase. When you got to the part with the round trip at the end of the video, I was unsure how you knew that the return flight would be exactly the same amount of points. I would be afraid to book one way for fear that the return might be something like 300,000 points. All of this is very confusing to me.
It seems Air Canada is rather stingy on the EVA flights for my desired timeframe. I was looking at going thru EVA directly even though Capital One transfers at only a 2:1.5 ratio. Flights to/from the west coast to Asia are 75,000 miles so I suppose 100,000 isn't too bad given the devaluations of CX and others. Have you transferred to EVA and booked an award flight thru them?
Why would you book Eva business class on air Canada? There are other Eva partner airlines that charge way less points for the same flight on Eva business class. I just booked the same flight from jfk to tpe non stop for 90000 miles round trip, and it’s without 1.3 transfer bonus. It would cost even less if amex had a transfer bonus.
Maybe some people don’t have Amex points , or maybe some people might be worried about the 48+ hour transfer times from Amex to ANA because of the sparse award availability especially for two business class seats (I’m assuming you booked via ANA), or maybe some people can’t find award availability for round trip which is required if you booked via ANA. Curious to hear what other EVA partner you are thinking about other than ANA.

As of the last couple weeks United is able to see Saver Award space for EVA but other airlines are not able see the same award space. Not sure if it's an error or phantom award space. It's been like this for the last couple of weeks and it's really weird.

For example I've booked award travel for myself and family members using my EVA and KrisFlyer account but I need to add those other passengers to my loyalty program profile. However on United as long as I have the points to cover however many passengers, I can put any passenger down onto the tickets. Thanks in advance!
Hey, I really like your video and try to redeem a business class. However, I'm not able to find any business class for the next three month using the same search except depart from LAX and date. Is this normal?
Aeroplan's business awards are pretty tricky. They show up as "business class" MIXED CABIN, which often means the shortest flight is in business, and the longest flight/segment is in economy. This is pretty horrible! Do you have any tips to get around this? For this reason, I don't like using Aeroplan, because you're paying business class pts. for basically an economy flight for the longest leg of your trip.
There’s an option to filter out mixed cabin itineraries. When it’s mixed cabin it’s marked in all caps red text so it’ll be easy to identify what’s mixed and what is not
