Youve gotta take more risks in the game. Try and do an entire run by hedging your bets and see how far you get. I accidentally went past the final destination planed because the rout I took wouldn't allow the jump there. And the overseer or whatever invited me to their planet. Trust me. If you play enough times and trust your gut you'll make it there.
Thank you! This game was always something I liked but couldn't get very far. After this video, I went from an average of 10 star systems to 57 on my first try! It finally showed the other colored targets.
Also you only need to elements as you need them. Maximize on fuel and iron to fix your ship till you find a better one. Then make sure to take note of what your new ship uses as fuel and repairs and they vary. Most use H and Fe. Only grab other elements as you discover new technology
Why don't you try maxing your probes and drills? if you have the basic probe/drill components, you can just max it out and repair them when they break. the basic components only take iron to repair, so if you have a stack of iron you can never lose either components.
Hi! I didn't realize an update came out, I'll have to take a look. Thanks for the info! I made these videos when the game was quite new and didn't have a lot of strategy info available. I imagine a lot has changed. I've not seriously considered another Let's Play as there is a big community of youtubers that can dig further than I have time to. It was a neat experiment for me, and I might try my hand at another format in the future.
@@ImGigantor I haven't seen everything in the update yet, but one very nice thing is that you can now unlock the different spaceships and actually start a game with them. Also you can get aliens wanting to hitchhike with you, how cool is that? And I just found your channel while searching for Let's Plays of this game (on the second search result page I think), so don't sell yourself short, there aren't many LPs of this game out there. I also found you can get a cocoon that turns into a small ship if you run out of fuel if you go at max depth on a gas planet

i don't recommend 'dumping your fuel in right away' a lot of times you'll gain fuel through an event and if you're topped off, the excess is wasted.

They always break for me when I drill that far it becomes counter productive
