On a 125 its basically a cycling trip for someone who's too dam lazy to pedal. I've got an mz150 and because it's so comfy I can easily go out on an all day ride, barely averaging 25mph.
Now we know, swap the clutch before a trip, or bring everything you need to swap it. I think your right though, it wore enough were the cable tension was not releasing fully. It would have been a 1 minute fix. The more you know right? Ride safe!

I'd love to know a little more about your experience on the bike if you'd care to share? I know you had some clutch issues which is a shame. How would you say the bike faired apart form this? Hey Dylan, awesome to know you're relatively local and have great taste in bikes 😉 awesome to know my video comes up first for that search! The bike was brilliant really and the clutch issue was actually only the fact it needed adjusting! What else would you like to know? Happy to help on here or feel free to DM me on instagram - link should be in the description 👍
No real tips other than prioritise comfort if you can. The seat isn't very comfortable and you'll obviously need an oil change during the trip Other than that... have a bloody good time! I'm envious 😁
touring on a cg 125 can be done for a fraction of the cost in fuel than a bigger tourer and thats a important thing to realise, half the cost of coin on fuel compared to a larger tourer bike, and when your touring you do alot of miles and alot of fuel and thats alot of coin.
I have a rack on the back of this bike, it came with it so I don't know who made it I'm afraid. Then a top box on the rack (though other trips I've just used a waterproof dry bag), throwover panniers and a tank bag. Then you're good to go 👍

Thanks for the kind words! Indeed they are, I rode the CG125 just the other day and it made me want to go on another trip... And I've just sold my GS800 😁
I have prepared my Honda Varadero 125 for a great adventure. I reckon that I will break my duck in Scotland too.
Scotland is great place for adventuring on a125! Hope you have a great time on the Varadero
Yes , its all ya need mine is a 190 xr and its so nice a lightweight bike !
I think the XR190 would make a great long distance adv bike! I've been looking at them every time I see them in South Africa!
@@ILikeMotorbikes I bought it to go into Cape York in Australia.
here in brazil the cg is the most popular motorcycle in the country, it can be used for everything, travel, urban and rural use. it's the most popularly modified bike too, they get +40hp out of her engine
I thought they would be popular there! My bike was made in Brazil, I'd love to take it on a trip and visit Brazil some time to take it home
Fantastic film 👍👍👍.... Can't beat small bikes for fun and adventures👍🤠.... I look forward to your next adventure🤟🤟🤟🍺🍺🍺🍺
Thanks for the really kind words! You've got me grinning ear to ear and I totally agree about small bikes being great for trips like this one
Fingers crossed the next adventure isn't too far away.
Cheers again 🍻🍻
Amazing trip and lovely 125! Subscribed!
Thanks for subscribing! Glad you enjoyed the video and liked the bike 😊
@@ILikeMotorbikes no problem, really good stuff, since you are based in uk, you should take a trip to Great Dun Fell, it’s the highest tarmac in England and it’s so good on a 125! We just did a video about it
@@OutsideYourZone I've never heard of that road! I'm going to take a look, thanks for letting me know. It's over 300 miles away though so it may have to wait a little while
@@ILikeMotorbikes it’s a great ride and to be honest if you are coming over the Pennines to get here the 300 miles will be mega fun, crazy roads up there!
@@OutsideYourZone definitely something to consider for a future adventure! Cheers for letting me know, also liked your video on it!
Awesome travel setup and inspiring, exciting attitude!
Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate the good vibes
It’s more exciting to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slowly 😂
Could not agree with you more!
Ride safe!
Totally frustrating as the clutch was fully in spec... I was just taken advantage of by a rogue dealer! Just one of those things really and I know I won't make the same mistake in future. Cheers Kevin, likewise :)
Honda normal suggest 10W30 oil Honda 600RR friend use 15W50 Oil ok suggestions only☺️
I thought 125s had to be moped in Europe? When I did my cbt years ago they instructor told me I'd have to have a moped to go to France
I've never heard that before and can confirm it was no issue when I was there.
I'm sure I saw other 125s too but can't recall if it was in France or elsewhere.
Travelling by 125 is certainly not a problem if its a UK bike
👍👏💯😊 normal use 15W50 motor oil for bike may be 10W50 Redline Oil
1977 my friend have Honda 125 4 stroke ok at that year is 2 stroke . 550 or high is 4stroke oh Honda CB 350 4 stroke
Don't afraid the heat better motor oil can Help😊
Top job mucker. Planning a long distance trip on my chaly clone
Cheers bud! Excellent, where are you planning to go?
@@ILikeMotorbikes around mainland UK coastline
@@Nobby77 that sounds fantastic! Hope you have a great trip 👍
Really good well done.. Just out of interest are you on a full bike license or L plates? my son wants to do something similar but only has cbt. Thanks
Full license Jon. Sadly a CBT is only recognised in the UK so your son will be restricted to the UK. However there is plenty of good riding and places to be discovered and Scotland or Wales are great places as is the lake district or the south west
Top class tom,a real adventure
Thanks Jennifer! It really felt like a true adventure and I think of it fondly often
Did you set your route to avoid motorways mate? Thinking about doing this to Italy and the alps
Yeah just through google maps, really easy in truth. I find France largely dull so go through Germany and maybe Switzerland on the way
dejavu or am I seeing double?! Nonetheless I can’t complain about getting to watch this masterpiece again!
You're a legend Dan, I had to reupload but so nice to hear you enjoyed it that much and calling it a masterpiece... Well you sir have made my day!! 😁
@@ILikeMotorbikes aw mate words can’t do it justice! Just watching it to hear you to let out a battle cry entering Liechtenstein is enough for me🤣 new ringtone perhaps..
@@ridingwithdan9772 genuine laugh out loud there!
I paraphrase from the film A Knight's Tale where one of the characters is called Baron Von Lichtenstein... Just decided to shout it out without baron in front 😂😂
@@ILikeMotorbikes brilliant😂
One of the best adventures possible
Cheers mate! Got some bigger adventures in the pipeline too...
Great stuff Tom's for the win 💪🏻💪🏻
Cheers Tom!!
Amazing trip, amazing video ❤️
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it
Ha..my gn 125 would love that trip...l am envious, wish I had thd balls to do this 40 years ago...but very tempted to give it a go at 59 almost s!xtie...!!
It's never to late to go for a blast Ricky! Give it a go, life is too short to not try - Ted Simon went on an RTW trip at older than you I think
Good stuff! how is the fuel consumption like on the CG?
Depends on a lot of things (speed, luggage, hills, wind) but generally worst case is 75mpg and around 100mpg can be achieved without much difficulty. If it was fuel injected it maybe it would be 120-150mpg like some more modern bikes
Superb Tom!!!
So nice of you to say, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Can you tell us about the luggage and the racks?
Sure what would you like to know? The rack came with the bike when I purchased so sadly I don't have details on that. The tank bag and panniers are both Oxford products just strapped on and I also used an Oxford top box on this trip
Was it a pannier rack ? Am planning going to Ukraine on same bike next year
@@livingalpujarras No pannier rack. Just soft throw over panniers strapped to the bike. Ah fantastic, I hope you have a great trip! Where are you travelling from?
Great video. Really enjoyed it :)
Thanks Mike I'm glad you did!
Thanks for sharing your experience buddy. I am also from Somerset and own a 2005 CG125. Your video was first on the search results for 'touring on a 125'!
I'd love to know a little more about your experience on the bike if you'd care to share? I know you had some clutch issues which is a shame. How would you say the bike faired apart form this? I think I could see a few mods such as USB charger, wind deflectors for your hands, fly screen etc. Thanks again!
Hey Dylan, awesome to know you're relatively local and have great taste in bikes 😉 awesome to know my video comes up first for that search!
Yeah I had handguards, different bars, a screen from my old XJR1300, a USB charging socket and a sheepskin to aid in comfort on the saddle. The bike was brilliant really and the clutch issue was actually only the fact it needed adjusting!
What else would you like to know? Happy to help on here or feel free to DM me on instagram - link should be in the description 👍
Loved it pal 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul, I'm so glad you did 👍
Doing 5000 miles to Nordkapp and back on a CG125, any tips?
No real tips other than prioritise comfort if you can. The seat isn't very comfortable and you'll obviously need an oil change during the trip
Other than that... have a bloody good time! I'm envious 😁
@@ILikeMotorbikes agree, the seat is painful after 200 miles, my MT10 is far more civilised. Will factor in oil changes! Thanks.
Another great vid
Cheers Alex! So glad you enjoyed it but Ellie Parker at Nosey Parker Productions is the one to thank for this!
touring on a cg 125 can be done for a fraction of the cost in fuel than a bigger tourer and thats a important thing to realise, half the cost of coin on fuel compared to a larger tourer bike, and when your touring you do alot of miles and alot of fuel and thats alot of coin.
Absolutely! If you can afford to go for a week on a big bike.. You can go for 2-4 weeks on a CG125 for the same money!
well said
What is the storage u are using on a cg as I’m thinking of doing a trip
I have a rack on the back of this bike, it came with it so I don't know who made it I'm afraid.
Then a top box on the rack (though other trips I've just used a waterproof dry bag), throwover panniers and a tank bag. Then you're good to go 👍
@@ILikeMotorbikes thank u for reply as I’m about to buy a 1978 honda cg 125 to go Isle of Man next year
Great video mate
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it 😁
Awesome. What an adventure!
Thanks Stephen! It certainly felt like one 👍 hope you enjoyed the video

Bloody right!! It's been nigh on 4 years since it happened and it still frustrates me, should have gone with my gut feeling that something didn't feel right in there
nice docu, only the horrible music is a showstopper for me
Thanks for your comment Rudolf. This is actually the second upload and after a few hundred views yours is the first comment like this.
