After reading this chapter my respect for Amai sky rocketed. Just like Darth Vader he became what he sought to destroy and it wasn't even intentional. What is even more depressing is that he knows one day he will loose control and the same HA and heroes he was desperately trying to perfect will hunt him down so he tries to nurture Saitama to be the one who finishes him but we all know Saitama will pull a Talk no Jutsu and save Amai from himself, just like he did to Garou
I'd like to see some powerhouses of both hero associations surrounding amai mask and about to kill him (tatsumaki, kamikaze, raiden, webigaza, flashy flash, genos, and zombieman), and amai mask accepting his fate, when all of a sudden saitama shows up and all the heroes who know his power hesitate. Then he defends amai mask from all the heroes' attacks and beats some sense into him

When you break down One Punch Man each arc is broken down into Saitama saving someone (not beating but saving eg making them a better person). The first arc was him saving Genos Then he saved Dr Genius Next King Then of course GAROU Now he is 'saving flashy flash' His next challenge will be Amai Mask (which admittedly will be very hard. But still doable) And his final challenge will be to save Blast Notice how each arc each character will get more and more depraved See here is the thing about OPM. It IS NOT a fighting manga. It's a super hero/ adventure manga. Saitama's fight isn't with monsters but with the evil within the hearts of man kind. Case in point. Have you ever noticed how Saitama always lets his opponents hit him before he slaughters them. That's because Saitama is a Hero first and a fighter second. The reason he Always lets them hit him is because he needs to confirm that they are really a monster and thus deserve to die. Even when he fought Tatsumaki he understood that for all her arrogance and power she wasn't just a mindless killer. Same with Garou. Saitama could have easily killed him but chose to take a few blows first just to see where Garou's heart was at. Spoiler he wasn't truly evil and thus Saitama let him live. As a general rule anyone character we get to know in OPM isn't someone who is killed. (Well except for Psykos maybe). Amai Mask will get a SERIOUS beat down. But he doesn't deserve to die. Because while he is definitely screwed up. He isn't truly evil. Genos even remarks that Amai Mask reminds him of what he COULD have become. He is a jerk. NOT a monster

I always thought that Sweet Mask was going to be a monster that turn into a handsome human but him being a ugly human that turn into a handsome monster that is even better
After reading this, I knew why amai mask is suppressing the other heroes and utterly ruthless. You can also see him sometimes loosing his cool and threatens fellow heroes. He's like a dad who wants to teach his children everything he knows before he pass away since he only had few days to live. That explains his ideals and actions toward his fellow heroes.
Saitama seems to be the only one who sees through bulshit every time, he sees right through Garou’ s facade when he was pretending to Be a monster and didn’t kill him. He might have done the same when he tells Beauto “we’re both humans” Meaning a posible redemption for Amai mask, maybe next with this clown guy

So like I’ve realized something when Boros is about to release collapsing star roaring cannon it shows a little blue orb of energy and it makes the heartbeat sound in Saitamas fight in his dream with the Subterranean king it shows the same exact thing but his is red what could this mean?
Not sure if that was actually the intent, but fact is (at least to me), that Boros got his wish fulfilled by Saitama, so the battle and thrill of going all out against an opponent worth fighting. While Saitama certainely faced his strongest opponent thus far (he's the first above dragon for sure he faced) he also was very merciful, respectful and sweet towards him. He could have easily killed Boros with 2 handed consecutive punches at the start of the battle, but he purposefully played around with Boros just keeping up enough of a pace to encourage Boros to do his best and stay on the offensive. He could have easily blown Boros to pieces during his released state, but just like with Garou he knew that he had more in store, so he instead asked him annoyed if that was really all he had, which prompted Boros to go into his Meteoric Burst state. When he came back from the moon he finally retaliated, at which point Boros was panicking and put on the ropes so he unleashed his Star collapsing roaring cannon. One thing people seem to disregard that Saitama could have easily killed Boros in the generous 3-5 secs it took Boros to charge his ultimate final attack, but he instead let him unleash it and out of Honor and bc of responsibility for saving countless cities and human lives, countered with one of his own moves that would cancel all the damage the planet and humanity would otherwise have suffered, just like with Elder centipede. Saitama is for the most part looking to feel the same thrill, excitement and fear he felt during his training days or like the dream with the subterraneans, however noone or nothing can damage him, so unlike Boros he's stuck with his fate, for who he felt pity and was envious of at the same time.
People who theorize Saitama being a monster for his obsession over strength are missing a small point. I think he wasn't obsessed with strength, he soight strength but what he was obsessed with challange. He wanted to fight so he looked for strong mosnter and this caused his monstrification but since he has a strong and and there are no strong oponents left the agressivenes is gone and so hos emotions
I knew it!! Ever since I've known about the wriggly veins he has, I thought most likely he's a monster secretly but fights for the good. A good monster. When he fought Fuher Ugly, I saw the glass and thought that's in A way how he sees himself. Reflection of his true self hence why he was so obsessed with beauty, but monsters he couldn't deal with em because of his own inhuman nature
I think Amai mask is wrong. He isn't fully a monster...yet. Saitama still calls him a human. A monster has to throw away their humanity. Amai mask hasn't done that yet.
Dang zhoniin you called it. You were able to figure out who Amai mask was before it was revealed. Almost 100% spot on. Also I am a fan the moral implications of his backstory. Being that of instead of hating the people around him and becoming monsterized from the hatred, he put pressure on himself and became something he wanted to become.

It was becoming quite obvious that the beautiful face he wears is an actual mask and that he might be a monster himself. Never really thought he would tell someone so blatantly. The monster association clearly has no idea of this fact. I think his ultimate goal with Saitama is to first groom him to be his successor, but he also sees Saitama as an individual that would maybe understand his predicament. He sees Saitama as someone he could tell his dark secret and he would understand. His end goal is probably that Saitama will be able to kill Sweet Mask once his humanity is completely gone. He obviously wants to avoid the eventual scandal of his monster side taking over will cause, maybe hoping that Saitama will save him from this cruelsome fate in the end.
Now I like things like this an hero paying attention to the situation and know what needs to happen cause ppl steady staying weak not getting more power or stronger

Saitama was actually shaken as he broke the door to leave. He might be convinced, might be the first flaw/mistake he makes and would be good for Saitamas character development

Saitama never said he wanted to be the strongest. He only wanted to be a hero. Saitaima's situation is one of those be careful what you wish for scenario's with a little bit of irony. He got to became a hero like he always wanted but he didn't know he would end up becoming bored even though his whole reason for becoming a hero was for fun.

I think the point of the clown at the end of the chapter is to point out the inherent flaws in Beauto's ideology. He wants to make Saitama into the ideal hero, but his idea of the perfect hero doesn't actually have any actually important characteristics. People paying attention to you isn't inherently a good thing; this is demonstrated by the clown. You can do anything to get peoples' attention, but it doesn't mean you're doing the right thing. You can save people, or you can even murder them and they'll notice you. In the end, popularity isn't what makes someone heroic.

The panel where Beauto was cleaning up the streets and no one acknowledged him reminds me of Reigen Arataka (MP100) cleaning up the streets for publicity during the Separation Arc. I suspect Amai will also be exposed as a" fraud" (ie, his true face) to the public in a future chapter.

I could be wrong, but I think there is something dark already brewing under the surface of Amai Mask's current plans, and I think One has given us plenty of reasons to suspect that. I get the impression that Amai Mask believes the S-Class is already *mostly* populated by monsters like himself, not just Zombie Man. This jibs with the other heroes' description of the S-Class power level as "insane." When he says Metal Bat doesn't belong in S-Class, does that imply he doesn't think Metal Bat has been monsterized as he and Zombie Man have? Maybe he suspects others, such as Purri-Purri Prisoner (angel form and other transformations, plus a criminal record), Superalloy Dark Shine (Hulk power hides a terribly fragile ego), Watchdog Man (inscrutable loner who might be the same kind of monster as Phoenix Man), Tornado of Terror (overwhelming esper with sociopathic tendencies), Pig God (a pure-hearted hero, but can his body still be considered human?), etc. Or does he suspect the entire S-Class of being monsters, including the more apparently "human" among them, like Bang, Atomic Samurai, and Tanktop Master, who have no transformations and no apparent psychological problems? Maybe he's using his Rank A-1 status to reserve the S-Class for people he suspects of being monsters? I wonder if he actually plans to kill the S-Class's members out of distrust, rather than just abolishing the designation. If Amai Mask's destiny is to become openly hostile to the S-Class members, that could be a very interesting development. Also I agree that One is some kind of genius and a brilliant storyteller!

He seems to have a not all there mind/mindset, changed when he broke his limiter, etc. I think Saitama did hear Amai Mask when he told him he was a monster, and Saitama was telling him that they're both human still, despite what they've been through.
Hopefully amai mask can became a human again after surpassing is trama with uglyness the same way garo came back from his monster form, it would be great to see him acept his ugly face and giving up his monster face

I actually gained alot of respect for Amai Mask, he's kind of like Paarthurnax, constantly suppressing his monster instincts to help humans.

After reading this, I knew why amai mask is suppressing the other heroes and utterly ruthless. You can also see him sometimes loosing his cool and threatens fellow heroes.
He's like a dad who wants to teach his children everything he knows before he pass away since he only had few days to live. That explains his ideals and actions toward his fellow heroes.

So like I’ve realized something when Boros is about to release collapsing star roaring cannon it shows a little blue orb of energy and it makes the heartbeat sound in Saitamas fight in his dream with the Subterranean king it shows the same exact thing but his is red what could this mean?

It’s really just something the anime decided to add in for more significance. The same can be said for the fire in his eyes.
Not sure if that was actually the intent, but fact is (at least to me), that Boros got his wish fulfilled by Saitama, so the battle and thrill of going all out against an opponent worth fighting.
While Saitama certainely faced his strongest opponent thus far (he's the first above dragon for sure he faced) he also was very merciful, respectful and sweet towards him. He could have easily killed Boros with 2 handed consecutive punches at the start of the battle, but he purposefully played around with Boros just keeping up enough of a pace to encourage Boros to do his best and stay on the offensive. He could have easily blown Boros to pieces during his released state, but just like with Garou he knew that he had more in store, so he instead asked him annoyed if that was really all he had, which prompted Boros to go into his Meteoric Burst state. When he came back from the moon he finally retaliated, at which point Boros was panicking and put on the ropes so he unleashed his Star collapsing roaring cannon.
One thing people seem to disregard that Saitama could have easily killed Boros in the generous 3-5 secs it took Boros to charge his ultimate final attack, but he instead let him unleash it and out of Honor and bc of responsibility for saving countless cities and human lives, countered with one of his own moves that would cancel all the damage the planet and humanity would otherwise have suffered, just like with Elder centipede.
Saitama is for the most part looking to feel the same thrill, excitement and fear he felt during his training days or like the dream with the subterraneans, however noone or nothing can damage him, so unlike Boros he's stuck with his fate, for who he felt pity and was envious of at the same time.

People who theorize Saitama being a monster for his obsession over strength are missing a small point. I think he wasn't obsessed with strength, he soight strength but what he was obsessed with challange. He wanted to fight so he looked for strong mosnter and this caused his monstrification but since he has a strong and and there are no strong oponents left the agressivenes is gone and so hos emotions

When he fought Fuher Ugly, I saw the glass and thought that's in A way how he sees himself. I think Amai mask is wrong. He isn't fully a monster...yet. Saitama still calls him a human. A monster has to throw away their humanity. Amai mask hasn't done that yet.

It was becoming quite obvious that the beautiful face he wears is an actual mask and that he might be a monster himself. Never really thought he would tell someone so blatantly. The monster association clearly has no idea of this fact. I think his ultimate goal with Saitama is to first groom him to be his successor, but he also sees Saitama as an individual that would maybe understand his predicament. He sees Saitama as someone he could tell his dark secret and he would understand. His end goal is probably that Saitama will be able to kill Sweet Mask once his humanity is completely gone. He obviously wants to avoid the eventual scandal of his monster side taking over will cause, maybe hoping that Saitama will save him from this cruelsome fate in the end.

Saitama never said he wanted to be the strongest. He only wanted to be a hero. Saitaima's situation is one of those be careful what you wish for scenario's with a little bit of irony. He got to became a hero like he always wanted but he didn't know he would end up becoming bored even though his whole reason for becoming a hero was for fun.
Saitama wanted to defeat his opponents with one punch at first. Guess he regrets that now lol.

I think the point of the clown at the end of the chapter is to point out the inherent flaws in Beauto's ideology. He wants to make Saitama into the ideal hero, but his idea of the perfect hero doesn't actually have any actually important characteristics. People paying attention to you isn't inherently a good thing; this is demonstrated by the clown. You can do anything to get peoples' attention, but it doesn't mean you're doing the right thing. You can save people, or you can even murder them and they'll notice you. In the end, popularity isn't what makes someone heroic.

I could be wrong, but I think there is something dark already brewing under the surface of Amai Mask's current plans, and I think One has given us plenty of reasons to suspect that. I get the impression that Amai Mask believes the S-Class is already *mostly* populated by monsters like himself, not just Zombie Man. This jibs with the other heroes' description of the S-Class power level as "insane." When he says Metal Bat doesn't belong in S-Class, does that imply he doesn't think Metal Bat has been monsterized as he and Zombie Man have? Maybe he suspects others, such as Purri-Purri Prisoner (angel form and other transformations, plus a criminal record), Superalloy Dark Shine (Hulk power hides a terribly fragile ego), Watchdog Man (inscrutable loner who might be the same kind of monster as Phoenix Man), Tornado of Terror (overwhelming esper with sociopathic tendencies), Pig God (a pure-hearted hero, but can his body still be considered human?), etc. Or does he suspect the entire S-Class of being monsters, including the more apparently "human" among them, like Bang, Atomic Samurai, and Tanktop Master, who have no transformations and no apparent psychological problems? Maybe he's using his Rank A-1 status to reserve the S-Class for people he suspects of being monsters? I wonder if he actually plans to kill the S-Class's members out of distrust, rather than just abolishing the designation. If Amai Mask's destiny is to become openly hostile to the S-Class members, that could be a very interesting development.

He seems to have a not all there mind/mindset, changed when he broke his limiter, etc. I think Saitama did hear Amai Mask when he told him he was a monster, and Saitama was telling him that they're both human still, despite what they've been through.

the difference is that saitama was determined, not obsessed, with becoming the strongest hero, so it's probably not monsterfication.
Saitama broke the limit put in place by that being, his power doesn't come from god in that case because "god" could simply restrict the humans power to begin with.
