P.S: Yes, this is the "original" story (it's not a fan-made). The drawings look so different because these are made by ONE (the storyteller of One Punch Man) and not by Murata. Anyway, this part of the story will be added to the Manga and to the Anime in future (probably in 4-5 years for the Manga).

ONE actually portrayed Amai Mask very well. He gone from a mysterious guy who seemed to be rude to heroes, to a guy who's an absolute chad for a society so dumb.

Sweet Mask, already a strong hero and a pop icon and loved by the faceless many, had no choice but reveal his uglier side to save the masses and ends up getting rejected by a majority of them. And in the end, Saitama became his biggest fan when the dust cleared.

The sad thing is: Sweet Mask looked so superficial when he said that due to his being ugly, people wouldn't have accepted him... But then you realized he was right. Even tho' he risked his life to save those people, almost everyone of them blamed him for his look.

Amai Mask and Saitama would actually get along really well, same with Garou. They act more like Heroes than any other character in the series. Amai Mask wanted Saitama to kill him so that Saitama can get the mandate of the masses, just like Amai Mask did. Simple fact is, you need to be recognized as a hero to be a hero. No matter what anyone says, Amai Mask was definitely the single most important hero prior to this, since he is the most popular and most looked at. Now that he’s lost that mandate, he wants Saitama to have it next. It’s a cycle. If Saitama can kill Amai Mask, two things happen, one, Saitama comes out with his power, defeating such a powerful opponent who is RECOGNIZED, two, Saitama will become the next most important. And it HAS to be saitama here, for the simple reason of the Sea King. When all other heroes couldn’t do anything, Saitama did. And even though he said it was because Sea King was weakened, there were definitely doubt. And if he can defeat Amai Mask, that doubt is confirmed, and Saitama is truly strong. And not just strong, people can be confident in his power. So yeah, Amai Mask and Saitama would get along well, as they both understand that sometimes, it’s being the martyr that can be the most important thing. Same with Garou. If they all sat down together, I’m sure those three would be best buds. They never actively seemed fame for the fame. Saitama and Garou just don’t want the fame, Amai Mask recognizes the NEED for someone with fame.

i remeber when we first learned about his secret, his fear of uhg-mons finally made sense. he isnt afraid of them out of pure disgust, ots becauseit reminds him of his trueform, and reminds him why people would judge him. its like looking at a mirror that shows you the part of yourself you hate the most.
