It's kind of a sad state of affairs that mankind is no longer able to invent new things and can only hope to find ancient zip kits from long after the height of our ingenuity to make any substantial leaps in technology.
It's a cynical view of what the future holds for us but, if you ask me, such a time might actually happen to us in a shorter amount of time than 38,000 years. I think that, for the next few decades, technology will make a few leaps and bounds but then technological progress to grind to a halt and our successors will still be wearing the same business suit and riding on the same 737's for the next 800 years. There probably won't be any serious attempts at space pioneering during that time either.

Well it's not like it matter for the Imperium. If one scrub gets replaced by another scrub, the net scrub is still scrub. It's just that the Imperium rewards some scrubs with scrub worlds if they find scrub machines that have scrubs.
Although if a Space Marine Chapter finds it, they get a good ship sent to them.

The big e never kept a few of the full libraries in storage somewhere makes no godamn sense. He knew shit was gonna hit the fan, even in the golden age and was building his proto marines and primarchs in his secret labs. Yet had no sense to build a vault with a few of the full libraries.

I like to think the quick Tau expansion is the result of the Ethereals getting assistance from possibly one of the last Old Ones, who is frail and rests in a lab/temple on the Tau homeworld

Justicar Alaric mainly destroyed the titan STC because it had become possessed by a demon. For some reason the demon thought it was an AI so Alaric tricked it into revealing it's true nature.

The Imperium should really REALLY copy schematics to not lose technology.
In Warhammer 40k it seems like the STC tech is a data base of plans for equipment. In the dark age of technology were these databases connected to maker devices, like the industrial equivalent of a 3D printer, to produce the actual tech? This configuration would seem the most benificial to a colony because base resouces could be put in one end and tech like hab structures, vehicles, and tools would come out the other end. I am also curious if these maker devices worked at the molecular level where any material could be fed into one end and tech would be spat out at the other? In this manner a flegeling colony could touch down a shuttle and deploy their STC/maker device to build the initial habitat and then additional tech needed by the colonists by feeding the materials adjacent to the landing site into the STC/maker device. In addition it would make sense that the initial settlement of what would eventually turn into a hive world should have an STC/maker device in the deepest bowls of the underhive of the planet's first hive city, or a STC/maker device in the bowls of each hive city on the planet since the STC/maker device would be able to duplicate itself as you can do with a lathe. New settlements on the planet would spead out and develope once STC/maker devices were ready for them.
I'd love to see a video about the making of a dreadnaught also how a space marine is placed into one.
It might be plausable that the Tau are using some recovered STCs, but not likely the Onmnicicopea (how do you spell that even) or a complete STC library or anything that advanced, due to the Tau commonly trading for techs with other species and generally being the most innovative race in the setting.

In my head cannon the reason for the Tau's rapid progress is that they found an incomplete STC library...I use it to rationalize the unexpected bump in tech the Tau got

Also DAOT ships can 1 shot shielded imperium battleships. The tau's biggest battleship was destoyed by and imperium battle cruiser and cruiser

Also the tau built the stormsurge to deal with titans because both the manta and tigershark which had to employ space ship weaponry (although they had some early successes) were outgunned by titans. And the stormsurge requires three of then firing at once to take down a warhounds void shield. And the warhound generally takes a few of them down with it as they have to charge up before they can fire again and destoy it.
They can't even mention Squats in lore anymore as having some of the most complete STC libraries.
I really wish the Gray Knights could have secured that Titan STC...

Given that humanity during the Dark Age of Technology were at a height of technological advancement and held colonies galactic wide, its likely humanity managed to have colonies that was so far away from the main events of the Age of Strife and the later imperial era that STC of significant abilities would have survived. The main reason i say this is due to the fact that the farther your colonies are the more likely your going to insure they are capable of self sustaining themselves to the point that they would not depend on help from colonies or governments closer in the galaxy but you run the risk they become a threat to your power in the future. Given this knowledge its likely Humans in 40k must have traveled to the far edges of the galaxy and maybe the nearby small satellite galaxies that is in orbit around the milky way at some point in time before things went to hell with machines. Its also possible they use a much safer form of space travel similar to the Tau which would also explain why we don't see more advanced humans in 40K, they simply haven't made it back to the home galaxy and or the numbers of colonist were such a small number that it took centuries for humans to reach a population that is sustainable for both colonial exploration travel and to venture out of the small galaxies they are in. . this would be interesting if the Imperium at some point encounters a full on Human Empire with the full might or near full might of the STC's or innovation. It would end up tearing the Imperium apart. However with the Destruction of Cadia and the destruction of various forge worlds, weakning of Space Marines, the very real possibility of the Emperor dying and everything else trying to kill them now having a very real chance of doing that. They could use a little extra help. funny thing is i could see the Emperor smirking if such a event happened.

Question: How are the Primaris Space Marines allocated to chapters that do not know which Primarch their gene seed originates from? For first founding and their known successor chapters this is an easy allocation but for example how would the Blood Ravens get Primaris Space Marines? It would be odd to know a squad of Space Wolves gene-seed Primaris Marines attached to a Blood Ravens company with their known mutations.

All the STC's needed to do to take over humankind was to wait until humans blasted themselves back to the stone age and pretend to be their gods.

The Imperium has lost track of thousands of planets. Many of those planets had STCs on them. Wouldn't it be likely for at least some of those to recreate similar conditions as the Dark Age of Technology and then become a competitor to the imperium? The key invention that powered the DAOT was true AI that could think much faster than human scientists. These lost STC AIs have been sitting around with hundreds of years thinking up technology even if the colony was lost or destroyed.

I had a suggestion for an new video for your channel. It would be interesting to find out about entertainment venues available to all classes of the citizendry in the Imperium of Mankind. The only cannon entertainment I am familiar with is Blood Bowl, but there should be a multitude of feast days and holidays sprinkled through the Imperium along with colonial founding days and anniversaries. There must be extensive programs of bread and circuses throughout the empire to help keep the citizendry somewhat content and docile in their crushingly depressive existances.
If the STCs were AI themselves I wonder if the cause of the Men of Iron betrayal was the STCs that provided the schematics for their production. Perhaps the STCs (being the culmination of human learning) themselves decided that humanity had to go. Perhaps a reason why these things are so hard to find and seemingly never whole.
Or, alternatively, humanity destroyed them intentionally after the men of iron rebelled... If these things were supposed to support space colonies, then they really would be everywhere. It doesn't matter if they were true AI or not; Paranoia and desperation might have been enough to warrant the lack of foresight...
Or, the STCs wernt involved at all and you only suspect them because popular scifi franchises have brainwashed you into thinking that all AI must be evil.
Meep Changeling AI in Warhammer *is* evil, though. It is really easily corrupted by the forces of Chaos/Kaos (can't remember which one), which is what caused the Men of Iron to rebel in the first place.

Well here you go for the babies crying about the primaris. No new technologies, just improvements on already discovered tech: bolsters, anti-grav plates, etc. Even Corax was messing around with the original genome used to make the primarchs. In 10k years, it’s not the most outlandiah thing in the 40k universe the Cawl did everything that he did 🤷♂️
