hey dude, i love the techs you make, and I know that you read the comments. Let me throw out this suggestion early, see if it can get some likes from people that agree.. -- What about doing exactly what you do, except not including the commander itself. Basically 99 cards for under 25$, plus the commander. You could cap the commander at 25$ to keep it still fairly budget and that would be great too. The reason I say this is because a lot of people including myself have commanders they'd love to build a great "focused" around that may bring the total out of the 25$ range. If you or the people think this is just a terrible idea, that's cool too. Just a thought. Either way keep up the good work.

I am planning on doing more deck techs in the future that also exclude the commander price to ensure that I can include commanders that are say $4 or $5 or more. Yeah I would probably still cap the commander price at $25 or so at the very most!
This is some high-quality MTG content. Cost is always such a huge concern for people who play magic or are considering getting into the game and showing people that you don't need to play pauper to have an affordable but powerful deck is great. Really hoping this channel takes off especially with such nice presentation.
Really appreciate this videos, especially as a new player in the community. My wife and I just started playing/collecting in Dominaria set and its nice to see some cards we are familiar with as Commanders. Gives us a good way to break into EDH without completely breaking the bank.

If I may recommend another reasonable upgrade, Conjurer's Closet is 5 mana artifact that lets you blink a target creature at the beginning of your end step. Considering all the ETB triggers this deck is running, it makes for a very powerful inclusion. Keep up the good work my dude 👌

I've had a mono-blue Wizard deck helmed by Naban for a while now that takes advantage of the flicker combos you listed here. I love it, but this is a REALLY good deck with the red splash.
Love the content and I cant wait for you to shine in the community because you deserve it. Great video layouts and deck analysis. Its easy to follow along and understand whats happening. Some things I hope to see in the future: A deck teck for xancha sleeper agent with the cost of the commander removed. An affiliate link so we can give you money when we buy cards. Id like to see more "packets" of cards illustrated to better raise awareness of card clusters that accomplish something but no one considers them. I notice this a lot with blue needing to protect itself or the mana rocks. Try to pick commanders that showcase your knowledge of bringing forth these forgotten cards that accomplish goals. You have a great sense of putting things together with stuff not a lot of people think about and I enjoy watching that. Enjoy every min, cant wait for the next vid!

Love the deck tech! I just wanted to suggest Altar of the Brood as a reasonable upgrade to help mill your opponents out with all those wizard copies. Thanks for sharing this awesome deck!!
this channel is such a great resource. I feel like jumbo commander and command zone are great but the average person isn't going to have shock lands, fetch lands, cyclonic rifts, and various other absurdly expensive cards in most of their 30 plus decks. These decks can be made on the cheap and can compete at the average casual level for those who actually play magic as a hobby and doesn't make a living on the hobby.
Mob Justice will allow you to get cheap direct damage out of those infinite tokens. Goblin Bombardment will give the same effect as Outpost Siege, and doubles the damage if they are both there. Galecaster Colossus gives another WinCon by wiping the board and clocks in around $0.50.
All good considerations! Mob Justice seems a little less effective to me since you will only be getting rid of one player with it, but that's just personal preference!
These Decks are so awesome, I feel like a half dollars series would be kinda cool making the budget 50 or so, still budget but just a little more power.
The Commander's Quarters I don’t have a very large knowledge of cards and prices so do you think those decks would still be in focused or reach optimized?
@@dylanmiller1140 in my opinion an optimized deck actually doesn't have a budget limit. Optimized decks just don't use a commander that is considered "competitive"
I would love to see some more of the $15 challenge decks. Also, I always forget about the notification bell thing next to the subscribe button. Another thing I'd love to see in the future, though I'm not certain how well it would work as a video maybe better as a comment (I forget the word where it pushes the comment to the top of the comments section) but let's say after a new set comes out (maybe even wait until the whole block is out) maybe revisit some of the decks you've made and post suggestions from the newer sets if you see something that would really set off a deck while still keeping it within budget ranges. Anyway, keep up the great work!

I would rather have people try out the deck as it is, and make adjustments/upgrades based on their playstyle and playgroup, rather than just taking my suggestions as the end all be all.
Yeah she is definitely a commander that I would have to exclude the price on to make the budget work haha. Already have the next few decks scheduled but you never know!

I bought izzet sleeves with intention of making a budget Locust God deck...but it hasn't worked out well...thanks for giving me a new Izzet commander to consider to wear the sleeves! And at an affordable price as well!
Nice video! It gave me a lot of ideas for a similar deck I already have, a Naru Meha wizard tribal brew that, although can beat people down with Docent of Perfection, is more tunned to combo off with Naru Meha, any blink spell, and Altar of the Brood!
Could add Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. Just a good card to slow your opponents down and giving your other creatures flash. Also price wise its not too expensive.
I haven't tested it yet, but I built around her by having a bunch of 1 to 2 CMC instants and sorceries that have an effect but an additional line saying "draw a card" so that you don't run out of gas. Also spell copiers (which don't trigger Adeliz an additional time) to draw more cards. The creatures aren't etb creatures, but instead token generation (eg. Talrand) and wizards with prowess for extra pump.
Finally got to play this deck on commander night at my LGS. I showed what it could do in casual with a turn 5 Dual Caster Twin Flame combo. After that I played the deck to ignore the combo until I had to. Even with letting the game draw out against an Infect deck, Edgar Markov and Tana/Ravos partner deck. I managed to keep everyone away from being infected while drawing my deck down to 7 cards and winning the game. But the highlight of the night was when I used the deck in a hyper competitive format against Animar, Hermit druid combo and Breya. The hermit druid player flipped his library and with all of his triggers on the stack I played Words of Wisdom to take him out of the game. Next turn the Breya player attempted to Animate Dead Worldgorger until Into the Roil stopped it from working so he scooped in response. Finally and was my turn and on turn 4, Dual Caster Twin Flame and beat three decks with the average price of almost $1200. Keep up whatever you're doing and I'll laugh my ass off while they all ponder how they lost to a deck that has terramorphic expanse

I build a similar deck with her but I have more cheap pump spells that will kill the opponent with Commander damage pretty quickly. It's kind of Voltron but not with Auras and equipment just spells. Great video by the way and best of luck on your new channel!
a great addition to this deck might be Viashino Pyromancer from core set 2019, it's a Shock effect on a 2/1 body, however, it must go to the face. I really like it in burn at least, same with Goblin electromancer and Goblin chainwhirler, even if the last one might not be a wizard, but it is rather expensive for this @ 4 $. but electromancer is dirt cheap.
@@TheCommandersQuarters whoops, I see you already have the electromancer in there, I must have missed it. but if you were to put the Viashino Pyyromancer in the deck, what would you take out? all the Wizards in the deck seem so good alrready, maybe there isn't room for the pyromancer
Oh and Murmuring mystic too... sooo good, every time you cast a spell you create a 1/1 bird token, totally forgot that one, it's also dirt cheap @ 0.15 $ for a near mint card. you can replace "Drift of Phantasms" with it, since it's not a Wizard and Murmuring Mystic is. To save more money, you can always cut the 2 diamond artifacts that tap for blue and red respectively and add 1 Island and 1 mountain instead, they do the same thing, mana rocks don't do anything unless they tap for more than 1 mana or if you have some artifact sub theme (affinity)
I feel like chart a course would be pretty decent in the deck, but you were specifying instant speed as a must for all the noncreatures. It still feels better to draw 2 cards yourself than have everyone draw 2 cards.

I know you don’t usually do this, but what about revisiting this deck list? There’s a bunch of new budget cards like Kaza, Roil Chaser that I think would work well.
Yep! But I do have a playlist on this channel where we exclude the commander's price (like my Arcades deck tech). This is to take into account players who open up an expensive commander in a pack, draft them, or trade for one. So any commander can be built around regardless of the price! But yes including Bolas in the price the deck would be around $65 total.
Ok, regarding the infinite combo Duelcaster Mage and Heat Shimmer, the ruling is, " "704.5e If a copy of a spell is in a zone other than the stack, it ceases to exist. If a copy of a card is in any zone other than the stack or the battlefield, it ceases to exist."

I'm not really sure how to pull off infinite Mana from DuelCaster Mage and Ghostly Flicker. If Ghostly Flicker is resolved and DuelCaster is blinked, there nothing left on the stack to copy. Maybe I'm just not understanding fully. Help me out.
It all has to deal with how the stack works, so it can get a little confusing. So here's how it works. 1) You cast Ghostly Flicker targeting two things you control (can be any combination of artifacts, creatures, lands) 2) Before Ghostly Flicker resolves, you cast Dualcaster Mage targeting it, this will create a copy of Ghostly Flicker. 3) With your copy of Ghostly Flicker you can pick new targets, which will be Dualcaster Mage and a land. 4) This will blink the Dualcaster Mage as well as the land (which will come into play untapped, so tap it for 1 mana). 5) When Dualcaster Mage comes back into play you will target the original Ghostly Flicker, which still hasn't resolved (and won't until you stop this combo) and is still on the stack. 6) Repeat this as many times are you would like. You can also blink another creature instead of the land if you want their enter the battlefield effect.
I like this one a lot! I do wonder if it would work if I swapped the commander to Inalla, Archmage Ritualist, without changing anything else from your list.
I haven't considered it yet! I may in the future depending on where that format goes! Personally I just don't like formats that rotate, makes it harder to build long lasting decks. And right now I am just trying to work as hard as I can to get 2 Commander videos out a week haha
Would both Heralds Horn and Goblin Bombardment be good includes? Herald reduces the cost of our wizards and let's us dig deeper, with bombardment allowing Naru copies to be sacrificed too. Also a bit of extra damage dumping in case we eat an fog or aetherize effect during the swing with those dualcaster tokens, or just the extra wizards in general.
Heralds Horn would be great! And actually I don't believe you can sacrifice Naru copies, due to the way the legendary rule works, but I could be wrong.
The Commander's Quarters you are correct - the legendary rule is a state based action and can’t be responded to. The second there are two Naru’s on the battlefield under your control, one has to go
For a combo-centric wizzards build, wouldn't Inalla be a stronger commander, since she can contribute to combos from the command zone (plus budget tutors in Dimir Machinations and Perplex)? Just wondering. Maybe in the future? ^^
Inalla could definitely work as potentially a stronger commander for the combo route! Adeliz was the commander though that was chosen by the Patrons, and like I said early on in the deck tech, the best route with Adeliz is storm. Unfortunately storm cards aren't cheap and can't fit into the budget restrictions.
This may be the deck I pick up! If Dualcaster is taken out of the game or may be countered, how else does the deck win? It seems like it can fold to giant green monsters/aggro decks and could use another win con. Any other options that didn't make the deck, whether by budget or gameplay?
Naru Meha and Docent of Perfection can definitely win you the game as well. You can just straight up kill people as well with enough wizards in play, a few spells in hand, and an ensnare. I would say that the most powerful deck you can build around Adeliz is a storm build. Unfortunately this wouldn’t fit in a $25 budget, but it would be effective.
Arcanis the Omnipotent, and Information Dealer could be two reasonable includes for the deck. So would Riptide Director and Riptide Laboratory, but they're not so budget friendly. Would Tibor and Lumia be worthwhile in this deck? I'm worried they would nuke your own board without the proper set up. Also Gelectrode could be a great game winner when the deck goes infinite.
All great considerations for the deck! Yeah I would be worried that you would have to play around Tibor and Lumia too much to ensure you don't destroy your own board. And unfortunately Gelectrode and other creatures like it don't go infinite with any of the combos in the deck, because you are copying and not casting the spells.
Man if only young pyromancer was a wizard.. Btw how well do you think Talrand, Sky Summoner would do in this Deck? With Dualcaster Mage you could target ghostly flicker or illusionists stratagem and get infinite tokens, not as reliable of a win condition if you do it during your turn since they dont have haste, but Talrand could act as a sort of "Lieutenant" since his effect is similarly strong to Adeliz, but doesnt require wizards on the field and can produce a lot of tokens over a few turns even without an infinite combo
But do you think that variant would be more effective against multiplayer games compared to this one? Thanks for the awesome content! PS: I second the recommendation of creating a budget Niv Mizzet, the Firemind deck :)

Am I right? I'm curoius, it's more like asking you for advice on this subject. Question number two: what do you think of Purphoros? Obviously not for budget, but in general? Do you think he would be nice for this deck? It downgrades the flavor I think. But would it be a nice card, since it make the enchantment counter to win by pining up to three? And finally, I wanted to ask if there is any possibility, to ask you for a upgraded, non-budget deck tech. Not like a "I spend all of my money" deck tech, but something more then you're last section of the video. Don't get me wrong. I love your videos, the way you do them, that you really stick to budget and still offer some upgrades. But I would be interested on which cards you would sort out of this deck in particular and which you would fit in. Is there any opportunity to get my hands on this? Definitely agree! And sometimes you open your commander in a pack or trade for them, so it's an understandable workaround sometimes.

Definitely hear you on that! My only hesitation with doing that though is that people might just take that as very cut and dry. I would rather have people try out the deck as it is, and make adjustments/upgrades based on their playstyle and playgroup, rather than just taking my suggestions as the end all be all.

I bought izzet sleeves with intention of making a budget Locust God deck...but it hasn't worked out well...thanks for giving me a new Izzet commander to consider to wear the sleeves! And at an affordable price as well!

Nice video! It gave me a lot of ideas for a similar deck I already have, a Naru Meha wizard tribal brew that, although can beat people down with Docent of Perfection, is more tunned to combo off with Naru Meha, any blink spell, and Altar of the Brood!

Could add Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. Just a good card to slow your opponents down and giving your other creatures flash. Also price wise its not too expensive.

I haven't tested it yet, but I built around her by having a bunch of 1 to 2 CMC instants and sorceries that have an effect but an additional line saying "draw a card" so that you don't run out of gas. Also spell copiers (which don't trigger Adeliz an additional time) to draw more cards. The creatures aren't etb creatures, but instead token generation (eg. Talrand) and wizards with prowess for extra pump.
Finally got to play this deck on commander night at my LGS. I showed what it could do in casual with a turn 5 Dual Caster Twin Flame combo. After that I played the deck to ignore the combo until I had to. Even with letting the game draw out against an Infect deck, Edgar Markov and Tana/Ravos partner deck. I managed to keep everyone away from being infected while drawing my deck down to 7 cards and winning the game. But the highlight of the night was when I used the deck in a hyper competitive format against Animar, Hermit druid combo and Breya. The hermit druid player flipped his library and with all of his triggers on the stack I played Words of Wisdom to take him out of the game. Next turn the Breya player attempted to Animate Dead Worldgorger until Into the Roil stopped it from working so he scooped in response. Finally and was my turn and on turn 4, Dual Caster Twin Flame and beat three decks with the average price of almost $1200. Keep up whatever you're doing and I'll laugh my ass off while they all ponder how they lost to a deck that has terramorphic expanse

I build a similar deck with her but I have more cheap pump spells that will kill the opponent with Commander damage pretty quickly. It's kind of Voltron but not with Auras and equipment just spells. Great video by the way and best of luck on your new channel!

a great addition to this deck might be Viashino Pyromancer from core set 2019, it's a Shock effect on a 2/1 body, however, it must go to the face. I really like it in burn at least, same with Goblin electromancer and Goblin chainwhirler, even if the last one might not be a wizard, but it is rather expensive for this @ 4 $. but electromancer is dirt cheap.

@@puffin-onehandedgamer1164 no problem! I would say test it out and make adjustments based on your playstyle, meta, and preferences!
Oh and Murmuring mystic too... sooo good, every time you cast a spell you create a 1/1 bird token, totally forgot that one, it's also dirt cheap @ 0.15 $ for a near mint card. you can replace "Drift of Phantasms" with it, since it's not a Wizard and Murmuring Mystic is. To save more money, you can always cut the 2 diamond artifacts that tap for blue and red respectively and add 1 Island and 1 mountain instead, they do the same thing, mana rocks don't do anything unless they tap for more than 1 mana or if you have some artifact sub theme (affinity)
I would love budget Jeleva and Firesong and Sunspeaker deck techs. I especially think Firesong would be a good deck to make budget.

Riverwise Augur is a wizard that is Brainstorm on a stick. Great addition at 25 cents.
I feel like chart a course would be pretty decent in the deck, but you were specifying instant speed as a must for all the noncreatures. It still feels better to draw 2 cards yourself than have everyone draw 2 cards.

Yep! But I do have a playlist on this channel where we exclude the commander's price (like my Arcades deck tech). This is to take into account players who open up an expensive commander in a pack, draft them, or trade for one. So any commander can be built around regardless of the price! But yes including Bolas in the price the deck would be around $65 total.

Ok, regarding the infinite combo Duelcaster Mage and Heat Shimmer, the ruling is, "
"704.5e If a copy of a spell is in a zone other than the stack, it ceases to exist. If a copy of a card is in any zone other than the stack or the battlefield, it ceases to exist."
And also it would be helpful for the the upgrades you show cards that can be cut and upgraded...otherwise, great deck tech 😃😃

Call to the Kindred is criminally underrated in blue tribal decks. It's cheap and cheats tribal pieces into play.

I'm not really sure how to pull off infinite Mana from DuelCaster Mage and Ghostly Flicker. If Ghostly Flicker is resolved and DuelCaster is blinked, there nothing left on the stack to copy. Maybe I'm just not understanding fully. Help me out.
It all has to deal with how the stack works, so it can get a little confusing. So here's how it works.
1) You cast Ghostly Flicker targeting two things you control (can be any combination of artifacts, creatures, lands)
2) Before Ghostly Flicker resolves, you cast Dualcaster Mage targeting it, this will create a copy of Ghostly Flicker.
3) With your copy of Ghostly Flicker you can pick new targets, which will be Dualcaster Mage and a land.
4) This will blink the Dualcaster Mage as well as the land (which will come into play untapped, so tap it for 1 mana).
5) When Dualcaster Mage comes back into play you will target the original Ghostly Flicker, which still hasn't resolved (and won't until you stop this combo) and is still on the stack.
6) Repeat this as many times are you would like. You can also blink another creature instead of the land if you want their enter the battlefield effect.
I like this one a lot! I do wonder if it would work if I swapped the commander to Inalla, Archmage Ritualist, without changing anything else from your list.

I haven't considered it yet! I may in the future depending on where that format goes! Personally I just don't like formats that rotate, makes it harder to build long lasting decks. And right now I am just trying to work as hard as I can to get 2 Commander videos out a week haha

Would both Heralds Horn and Goblin Bombardment be good includes? Herald reduces the cost of our wizards and let's us dig deeper, with bombardment allowing Naru copies to be sacrificed too. Also a bit of extra damage dumping in case we eat an fog or aetherize effect during the swing with those dualcaster tokens, or just the extra wizards in general.
Heralds Horn would be great! And actually I don't believe you can sacrifice Naru copies, due to the way the legendary rule works, but I could be wrong.
The Commander's Quarters you are correct - the legendary rule is a state based action and can’t be responded to. The second there are two Naru’s on the battlefield under your control, one has to go

For a combo-centric wizzards build, wouldn't Inalla be a stronger commander, since she can contribute to combos from the command zone (plus budget tutors in Dimir Machinations and Perplex)? Just wondering. Maybe in the future? ^^
Inalla could definitely work as potentially a stronger commander for the combo route! Adeliz was the commander though that was chosen by the Patrons, and like I said early on in the deck tech, the best route with Adeliz is storm. Unfortunately storm cards aren't cheap and can't fit into the budget restrictions.

This may be the deck I pick up! If Dualcaster is taken out of the game or may be countered, how else does the deck win? It seems like it can fold to giant green monsters/aggro decks and could use another win con. Any other options that didn't make the deck, whether by budget or gameplay?
Naru Meha and Docent of Perfection can definitely win you the game as well. You can just straight up kill people as well with enough wizards in play, a few spells in hand, and an ensnare.
I would say that the most powerful deck you can build around Adeliz is a storm build. Unfortunately this wouldn’t fit in a $25 budget, but it would be effective.

Arcanis the Omnipotent, and Information Dealer could be two reasonable includes for the deck. So would Riptide Director and Riptide Laboratory, but they're not so budget friendly. Would Tibor and Lumia be worthwhile in this deck? I'm worried they would nuke your own board without the proper set up. Also Gelectrode could be a great game winner when the deck goes infinite.

Yeah I would be worried that you would have to play around Tibor and Lumia too much to ensure you don't destroy your own board.
And unfortunately Gelectrode and other creatures like it don't go infinite with any of the combos in the deck, because you are copying and not casting the spells.

Btw how well do you think Talrand, Sky Summoner would do in this Deck? With Dualcaster Mage you could target ghostly flicker or illusionists stratagem and get infinite tokens, not as reliable of a win condition if you do it during your turn since they dont have haste, but Talrand could act as a sort of "Lieutenant" since his effect is similarly strong to Adeliz, but doesnt require wizards on the field and can produce a lot of tokens over a few turns even without an infinite combo
Those are definitely good other routes to go! I found that they work better in a storm style, which is a little pricier of a deck

Anyway, here I go: the "Kindred Discovery" card which is mentioned in the upgrade section... you have to be careful with it, since it will may cause you to lose the game, if you go infinite by Wizzards entering the battlefield. Am I right? I'm curoius, it's more like asking you for advice on this subject.
Question number two: what do you think of Purphoros? Obviously not for budget, but in general? Do you think he would be nice for this deck? It downgrades the flavor I think. But would it be a nice card, since it make the enchantment counter to win by pining up to three?
And finally, I wanted to ask if there is any possibility, to ask you for a upgraded, non-budget deck tech. Not like a "I spend all of my money" deck tech, but something more then you're last section of the video. Don't get me wrong. I love your videos, the way you do them, that you really stick to budget and still offer some upgrades. But I would be interested on which cards you would sort out of this deck in particular and which you would fit in.
