Go with the Michimoto 180 degree tstat the best mopar 180 tstat. I live in texas and im not tuned for the 180 tstat but it works great. When i drive my temps stay at 180 but when im at a stop light it goes back to stock 200 since im not tuned, but i drive a scat. The 180 degree tstat helps with consistency when you are doing multiple runs with somebody your engine stays cooler which also keeps your air intake temps cooler. I notice your air intake is exposed with no heat shield. This could also be contributing to your overheating since your car is breathing hot air from the engine, you need a heat shield atleast, if not an intake that is fully sealed.
I put the heat shield back on bro if you noticed I took the strut tower off and put the hood air grabber and heat shield back on and I’m almost 100% that both my 180 T stats were michimoto ones. SRT Autoworks told me they have been getting a lot of bad 180 Tstats lately when I went to change it the first time
180 tstat is so important. I lost my cooling fan a month ago, my car was able to drive almost anywhere and stayed under 200 even without the fan. Ive had it for almost 2 years no problems. In summer air my 5.7 was able to stay around 188 to 192 while around town, and 181- 183 on highway. Without that thermostat it wouldnt have been drivable. If you tune the 3 stage fans to come in at 188, 200, and 212 then you will never get hot. With the fan it never gets hotter than 194, even while pullimg
On the thermostat, that little hole with piece in it should always be at the highest side of the housing. it helps with bleeding the coolant system. Especially coolant going to heater core. Thats why it starts running hot.
I’m running stock thermostat and haven’t had any issues on my 06 srt. Read a bunch of forums on the 180s and a bunch of them had issues with over heating so I never made the move.
I’m considering selling my ‘08 SRT8 Superbee. It has been nothing but trouble since I’ve pulled it out of winter storage this year. First a transmission sensor went out, then both front wheel bearings wore out. My ESP BAS light came on but now only my TCS light appears on the dash. Now just the other day I got a trouble code for a cam position sensor.
SRT dad what does your oil temp run my oil temp all the way up to 224 degrees on the digital but my temp will be over the 215 on my 06 SRT8 it does not have two water temps😊 that is digital oil is just was wondering
Yea what you see on your normal dash is coolant temperature what you see on digital is oil temp two different things if you hold your music and compass button for 10seconds at the same time you can access your coolant temperature
I switched my 06 SRT to a 180 and without the fan turned on it’ll hold in that range. I still have the fans on a separate switch that the previous owner installed. I used the mopar coolant and pinhole at 12 on the stat. Personally I like the extra protection of the 180 cause if it runs hot at 200 sitting in traffic etc… I know I’m good. Video is on my channel.
Dude installed the thermostat upside down. The jiggle valve should be at or near the12 o clock position. Also shouldn't be mixing different color coolants together.
And as far as the coolant it has nothing to do with the color it’s just dye however the technology matters! HOAT is what our mopars use 💯 so we good there 👍🏼

I never run anything but oem thermostat. I've had any issues. But all my cars have been completely stock. My challenger is the only car I have had with any kinds of mods. But, the mods on it are visual. Awesome content. Looks like you guys had fun!
Honestly wanted to see the work done ✅ sometimes shops do a bad job especially with warranty work they half ass it and do a crap job so really hard to let anyone work on your car now days 🙁😏

Those dodge engines really need working hood scoops to let air in to help keep the engine cooler.
They do have them. That’s what those two slits are on the underside. It’s one solid piece that shoves air down the sides of the engine.
I run a 160t stat on my 2006 Dodge Daytona RT. No problems.
I stay right by that auto zone, if y’all do a car meet like that again let me know or anywhere I’ll pull the “HellBoy” out!

I had to learn the had way about 180 thermostats, you have to tune your fans to come on 180 and so I just ended up going back to oem
I mean I have a 2007 charger interceptor 5.7 swap the charger doesn’t pass 165 ish and the 300 stays around 190

I use a 180 tstat fail safe and my tune allows me to set fans at 185 so my car stays around 188-195 in the summer 😊
The thermostat wasn’t placed correctly, the tiny hole on the thermostat should be place at 12 o’clock position
I’ve corrected this mistake since this video i installed a 180 Tstat myself will make an update video soon
U can also try the 192 thermastat for the hemi motors

So my car runs at 190 with AC on and without. Gets to about 205 at idle.

Actually there is a big debate on this, I’ve heard of guys running cooler with it facing closer to the 6 o clock position but guess we will see 😬
