  • Peter was a flawed human. Impetuous, impulsive, and rash, he messed up time and again. But God grew him and changed him and used him in powerful ways. If you can see yourself in Peter, then you will see God’s love for you in the unfolding of this disciple’s story. Join John Bradshaw for “Great Characters of the Bible: Peter.”

    Everybody can totally relate to Peter, his nature is really human. Imperfect, does good things with good intentions, gets angry, lies sometimes, humble, cynical sometimes , brotherly, gets afraid, impulsive , immature , good son, industrious, honest. But despite his imperfections, he was accepted by Jesus because Jesus knew his heart. His heart is not of evil . ❤️

    Pastor Bradshaw, this is one of the best discussions about Peter, I have heard. Thank you for explaining his story and using the Greek words and how they are used.

    20:46. 1 Cor. 13: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
    8 Love never fails.
    Love is unconditional. It is not brotherly, or classified. 😊 One love, One God, One people❤

    What everyone needs to realize is this, Peter was first a disciple of John the Baptist, he loved John and was already suffering from losing him. He would never want to lose Jesus as he lost his last spiritual teacher.

    Agape love does not mean unconditional.
    The concept of unconditional love was first mentioned in the 19th century.

  • @leemary4833
    @leemary4833 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great study. So agape love is to also be willing to die. Felt that at conversion, but seem to lost it. Seems like inly with front line work one is closest to Him. Only time when HS felt strong and powerful.

    And he turned and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me Satan; thou art an offence unto Me; for thou savorest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” {EA 162.1}
    (643) Where was Satan?-He was right between Christ and Peter, filling Peter with doubts and unbelief. “Get thee behind Me, Satan,” Christ said; “stand back.”

  • @leemary4833
    @leemary4833 ปีที่แล้ว

    “In Gal 2:12 Paul said that Peter "drew back and would not eat with the Gentiles, because he was afraid" of the more Jewish-oriented followers of James who favored circumcision and strict adherence to Jewish law. Paul then publicly rebuked Peter for his hypocrisy.

    Sounds like surrendering means to keep going no matter what happens, like Peter slept when put into prison.
