Thank you for sharing. I like the way that Z axis mount was designed to accept either the 775 motor spindle or the laser module, smart. I think I will attempt to mill a bracket to hold both at all times if weight is not too high, I know I will lose a little on the Y axis but this I can accept. I have never used the software that you are using to drive the laser, but can you adjust acceleration/deceleration? Notice there are spots (especially around corners and ramp in points that burned much hotter than the areas where it was running at full speed. Have you attempted to adjust this "lead in" power or feed rate yet to get a more even lasing? Is it possible? Again, great video!
I haven't used the laser all that much. The feed rate is of course precision adjustable. I believe it's possible to adjust the acceleration/deceleration.

I don't really need to do a circuit board at the moment. However I'm quite sure the machine has no problem with burning through a resistant coating like paint and exposing the copper. The laser is more than powerful enough. It's overkill. I don't think it's suitable for extreme tiny detailed circuit boards like you find on motherboards and graphic cards.

It wont burn the copper, but you can print the copper plate, burn the paths with the laser and there etch. I don recommend etching with ferric acid, otherwise with copper sulfate electrólisis.
Hello, I have a question, I am new with the cnc3018, when I put it to work with the lasser the machine only moves linear. but when I put it to work with the router motor, the motor rises and writes over the air. I have even changed my mother board but it still doesn't work for me. Please can you guide me? I used candle and laserGRBL.
I'm not sure I'm understanding correctly but I don't think it has anything to do with the motherboard. If the tool is not making contact with the workpiece maybe it's something with the Z axis.

@@quiquedaboub you can open the g-code file with a text editor like Notepad++. it is not too dificult to figure out what the commands in the gcode file do.
The laser burnt a path in the wood about 1/4 of a millimetre deep. I was not using full power. Multiple passes and slightly lowering the focal point would eventually probably cut through wood.

Can it do grayscale image?
You can control spindle speed via gcode so possibly laser output as well. I've seen gray scale prints online but not sure if via upgraded lasers.
