Only thing I don't do anymore is use a grinder on transformers, after watching you use a machete, its alot quicker and quieter, great job my friend splitting them last transformers in half it was fast and easy method witch saves on cutting wheels and electricity 👍👊🙏

This is something I haven't played with yet. I have a few 55 gallon drums of them. One day I'm going to do this. So I'm thankful for videos and tips on them. I haven't made my plan yet on exactly how I'm going to do them. Great video buddy!
I would recommend switching the machete for a lawnmower blade. The tool steel takes hits better and there's a larger surface for striking. Plus, there's a million of them out there for scrappers.

Oh interesting! Is there any rivets or steel pins going through the transformer? What about welds? If you can email me a picture of the transformer and your machete that would be great. Also. Is the machete between the layers of steel? It can sometimes be stubborn trying to get it started.
I found this machete from a clean up job I did, not sure how old it is or the brand. I will say that I’d try to find one that has thick steel, wooden handles. Try to find one that isn’t serrated. I wish I had more information for you. Thank you for watching.

Enjoying your videos,i used to scrap full time as my primary income i do different things now but still as you say "Hobby scrap" i Googled your "machete" looks like it actually is a Piece of cutlery made in Sheffield England and "shear steel" is made the same way as Damascus steel! I also would venture to say it could be OVER 100 years old so you might want to try making a replacement and stop beating on it lol peace and blessings to you.

@@scrapitall200 I just googled "I Wilson shear steel" and found all kinds of interesting information. Good luck and you may want to Google that firehouse valve and makers marks on the other brass items... People don't think to research stuff before they toss it out AND B4 they scrap it.... So much history and tradition end up in the shredder and the melt furnace when someone else needs the part to complete a restoration project or a museum display so if ya don't know what it is please look it up and see what you can find it's fun also!!! Lol
Wanted to let some of.you know cause you have not seen you show this as of yet my brother👍, if and when you find a A/C or drug you can take the compressor unit out and cut it open , it does have minimal oil in it, but it is also housing about one to two bounds of copper in it, if you take it as a unit you will only get around 0.23 or less a.pound which is a big loss ,also if you take the AC coils and cut the steel off th m you will get around 1.75 a bound more or. less, it all depends on your scrap yard, have a blessed and wonderful day/night 🙏✌️

knock the weld off with a lump hammer, mount the transformer on 2 blocks with the edge of the windings sitting on the blocks, then punch the E leaves out with a cold chisel
Next time I'm visiting a scrapyard whenever I need a transformer for a project XD. 16 bucks I would've gladly taken them without all the trouble of dismantling them!
Watch the Toes. :) Dropped one o those one my foot once. At that moment I started wearing steal toes shoes when doing that. Have a 5 Gallon Bucket full of Copper transformers at home I need to take the time and breakdown.

The fin coils can be cleaned with a 1 1/2 inch wood chisel and a hammer. Cut off the copper ends and remove the steel.

Work smart not hard cut the weld with a bandsaw.
Angle grinder works as well but not everyone has those tools so I like to show it’s possible without those tools
