    A bit of advice thats helped me is to tie a bright ribbon on the back while you learn. Not only can it help you find a lost plane in a tree or field but its easier to keep track of turning as well.

    Such a useful video mate. I'm well established with RC cars but fairly new to planes. Tp be very honest, I usually stick with the larger, more famous channels with their more flashy thumbnails, but I saw your video description and thought I'd try it. You covered absolutely everything I could have been wondering about. Good work 👍

    I've opened up the battery bay a little very carefully depth wise and I've found batteries rated @ 600 & 750 mAh I then get a solid 15-16 mins flight (down to 3.8v)! Have to be very careful though as the battery only just fits. I also used the straw off a wd40 remove the battery bay cut the straw to 4 lengths to make a stand off on the battery bay. They are red so goes nicely with the mustang. I leave a big gap between flights to let the motor cool down. Enjoy your videos been on a similar journey discovering and modding them like you. I do wish they were brushless and that there was an easy motor upgrade.....but they are great 👍

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, having a gyro give extra options to fly on days with a little wind and survive and enjoy the flight. It just overcomes the effects of a smaller model to waver in the sky and lets you get on with flying. I've just put a gyro in a 1500mm plane too as it broadens the flight window. Options to enjoy flying and have fun.

    I should point out, at 18:46, that the right hand drawing is of the Bf 109 Prototype V1, which was equipped with a Rolls-Royce Kestrel VI engine because the Daimler-Benz DB 600 engine used on prototypes V10 through V14 (and will later power the series production in the guise of the DB 601 and DB 605) wasn't ready yet.
    The aircraft they chose to model is a Bf 109E4 model equipped with a Daimler-Benz DB 601A , more specifically Serial Number 3579, a plane which has been restored to flight after being fished out from a marsh in Russia in 1992 and looks pretty much like that - the only details which they got wrong are the lack of the triangular lower windows present on all E variants.

      @@Calvertfilm My pleasure and excellent review - my local Hobby shop just bought these back into stock and was wondering if I should pick up the Bf 109 and get back into RC flying (something I haven't done since 2004 - switched to static models instead) maybe repaint it into one of the Bf 109 E3s from the Romanian "Escadrila 53 Vânătoare" (53rd fighter squadron,from my home town of Constanța) and yours was amid the first reviews google found when I searched.
      It's amazing what 20 years development can do in terms of model hardware and software can do in terms of user experience - it looks positively a joy to fly.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes these are much fun to fly because they are almost indestructible. So you don't have to worry about damaging them or anything else. Lots of fun. They are very quick to respond so you'll need fast reflexes but they fly so well with their in-built stabilisation. I have loads of these. @@wingsofwrath4647

    Great video and I agree they are ideal for small areas. I have a question that you might be able to answer, I fly without the wheels attached over grass on one occasion the aileron servo got damaged and rather than replace the single exposed servo I am considering two micro servos set into the wings connected to the rx by a micro y cable would the rx have sufficient power to do this. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

      @@Calvertfilm I have just hooked up a couple of micro servos via a y cable to an xk miniwarbird with a similar rx and the result all works until the motor is activated and then the voltage draw is to much and they merely twitch, so I think that is a non runner. Hi, thanks for the video. Just got the mustang and the elevator is way too sensitive. Any idea on fixes?
    I’ve thought about moving to a different hole on the control horn but can’t see how to get the current push rod out of the existing hole? Thanks

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes you can move to the outside hole. As far as I know you have to carefully pull apart the two sides of the control horn from the wing and then re-glue them after putting in another hole. I'm not sure if there are a choice of holes in the other end by the servo horn but that could be an option if there is.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've just Googled it and I think they are: 51005 2 Pin Connector Male+Female 1S Battery Charging Adapter Cable - you can buy pairs of them on eBay. You may need to upgrade your ESC if you are going over 1S. I'm not sure what the motor can take either but some people have put in a brushless conversion, so worth finding those video on TH-cam.

    Hi, just purchased the Volantex RC Spitfire... I already have the Messerschmitt BF109 and I have noticed when I unplug the flight battery from the Spitfire the transmitter beeps at me after about 3 seconds until I switch it off does your Spitfire transmitter do this? As my BF109 doesn’t.

    Hi, I am a complete novice. I have just started up the plane for the first time and the propeller keeps spinning off. What am I doing wrong???

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Try another propeller. If it still happens then the 'prop saver' (the part fixed to the motor shaft) needs replacing. You should have a spare in the box. I have another video on how to replace this but search TH-cam for how people do it. It is a bit tough to pull off sometimes and needs to go on one way as the motor shaft has a flat on it. I use pointy pliers, hold the motors firmly too, be brave and it pulls off. Then push the new one on firmly to the same point. Hope that helps.

    Only problem with it so far for me is trying to get the battery out

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a bit of a technique I find. Firstly I put them in so the battery lead comes off the front end, then I find it easier to tuck the rest of the lead inside on one side. If the molex connector is not near the top after that, then I carry a small screwdriver just to gently prize it out. Go careful as eventually these molex connectors can break around the wire, then you need another connector. Cheap but a pain.

With latest EdgeTX things seem a little different, and you'll need to futz with the channel mappings, but it's not too bad. It's really nice to have throttle cut and the other features of the TX16s. Now, if only I could figure out how to hook up the stunt button - I'm guessing it's CH6 but haven't tried it yet. And I haven't figured out telemetry yet since I think these warbirds have it.

    How is this compare to version 2

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do have a V2. I find the V2 clear canopy is a real improvement (I add a 3D pilot figure) but as far as flying goes the V1 is superior but only in expert mode, otherwise they are the same. The V2 is 7 grams heavier at 54g and has the underneath intake filled in - perhaps those make the difference.
