A few tracks on older Hed Kandi Nu Disco compilations. And ashamed, I've took that easy option you described, and bangers or not, refused to use if they won't play nicely.
I play a lot of acid, 80s industrial, synth, trashy disco, dub... I've got a lot of 80s songs where they'd throw an extra beat into a measure just to let you know it's a remix and songs with lots of movie samples over no beat or big tempo changes like in an acid wind down. It's all the stuff that Rekordbox hates and i get tired of fixing grids.
This video came just in time. Needed to verify grids for 700+ tracks 🙏 I always learn so much from you and your dry humor keeps me engaged and looking forward to more videos! Cheers
I always lock the tracks after beatgridding. I know the locked tracks are beatgridded perfectly and are safe to use sync with. So anyone saying "sync doesn't work" just doesn't know how to use it ;)
Fun fact: When Traktor analyzes tempo it might say something like 140.000 but a lot of the time it's actually off by a tiny bit like 140.000006. Doesn't show in the browser but I discovered this by going into the database file with all the library info. If you want it 140 flat you have to highlight the bpm and type in the tempo.
Can you do a video about breakbeat in general? Gridding, prepping for a set, Beatmatching. I think would be beneficial to alot of people considering most beginners are scared off if anything is not 4/4 timing !
Very interesting stuff. I honestly just leave the software to it and completely ignore the grids....I'm too lazy to fix them up. If I ever need it though I'll be coming back here as a reference for how to fix them. That DnB tune Peaced Out by Winslow you showed.....my rekordbox says it's 174 bpm and the grid looks OK too. Wonder why that is? Think we've got the same analysis settings too......
Really good video, sadly there's one problem I'm yet to be able to fix :( Certain songs in my library will follow a 4:4 pattern for half the song, and then after a breakdown they'll inexplicably start off one or two beats early, meaning that the downbeat is one or two beats off for the rest of the song, despite the phrasing being correct up to that point, is there any way to handle this?
Same. Ive got a few track with an extra beat or two. Im on Engine here, but shouldnt matter, but here's what ive been doing.. i drop a marker and name it something like "extra beat" as a reminder to check sync is off. If sync is off, snd quantize is on, i can bring the next song in on an odd beat. Works for now until i find a better solution
Don't know what you used to rip the vinyl but the technics 0% position for example does drift. I'd guess it was the turntable that gave you a little extra rather than rekordbox getting it wrong. Especially if it's with all the vinyl you've ripped.
What's the hardest track you've ever had to grid?

Anything from the 97 to 99 UK happy hardcore scene. I did pull a lot of them off CDs as .mp3, so there is that.
Jazz Fusion is an utter Ball Ache.

I had and still have all these problems 😀
I'm already using some of your tips.
Thank you for the other tips 🙏

my vinyl rips of dnb jungle are never just 174 its always got that extra like 174.60 for example

@ yea I think it’s a turntable thing . Pioneer and technics decks both had same results .
Vinyl rips are hair-pullers for gridding. I end up dropping ancors on every other freakin measure :| im sure theres a better way
Just get Djay pro! They have flexible beatgrids!
If you're working with vinyl tracks you're fucked lol
