So I figure since I'm 150 videos in, I should comment that I've been watching through the "every Continue? episode" playlist for the past few weeks at my day job. It's been an incredible journey diving through all the past episodes and I figured I should bring it up. Also loved Yu-gi-oh as a kid and actually played the card game in a few professional tournaments. I eventually Game Over'd that so I'd probably Game Over this game as well.
Forbidden Memories is certainly odd compared to rl Yugioh. No effects, fuse cards without poly, can only play one card per turn, and the whole guardian star system. If you do ever get it, one tip: Dragons and Thunders are your friends.
sughtyu this was actually how I was introduced to the whole yu-gi-oh series. When i got the cards I realized it was very different, but similar enough for me to still understand. Personally I love forbidden memories nonetheless
Basically, each symbol has an attack bonus against other symbols. It's just a way to add a bit of extra strategy to an otherwise rather stale game, because using advantageous symbols gives a 500 point (I believe it was) bonus to ATK. As for which symbols are available to select, each monster in the game has two preset ones that can be chosen between when the card is placed onto the field.
León Arcano That's because it has nothing to do with the actual card game. I think the part in the episode is funny when Josh makes a joking remark about how people who know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh are going to comment saying that they chose the wrong sign, because I'm pretty sure no other games had those.
I loved this game for what it was as a kid, but I hated having to forget *Everything* about the actual card game to follow the rules in this and the tv show. :(
This game followed the early rule of Duel Monster which was the Pegasus arc which means basically no fusion card necessary unless it's big fusion and no sacrifices when you summon a level 5 or above.
As an ex-player, think the best time to play was like the year after they finally banned Cyber-Stein from the Advanced Rules. Yeah, there was still the meta decks, but there were so many anti-meta options it was definitely fun. I had a no-monster Final Countdown deck (because why win by actually putting up a fight when you can purely turtle?) and a Earth Skill Drain deck (because who cares about Monarchs when you can drop 2800 attack LV 4s every turn?). However, I must say, before I quit the game, I did notice one trend - Solemn Judgment (the game's "Fuck you card", since it negated pretty much anything at the cost of half your LP) started to slip into every one of my decks.
charles cfo I know. It was the only time they had an "emergency ban" because it won against a Chain Burn deck at some major tourny. I am saying for about the year afterwards was pretty good - even though monarches were still the staple, there was enough variety to have fun with.
well, yugioh tag force special for the PSP is awesome. The actual atualized game has so few meta decks, it hasn't fun. You play 30 times with different people and 20 of them are usin qlipoths, it's fuckin boring. Now, tag force special has lots of the new cards and all animes scenarios, and lots of chars. And everyone rolls it's anime-adapted deck, it's amazing.
This game was cool cuz you kinda didn't have to know anything. No effect monsters and fusions were super easy and non specific. I was like I hope they figure out fusion monsters and they totally did by accident. 10/10
Considering when they were born in the 80s, and this didn't get popular in the US until like the late 90s/early 2000, I think it's safe to assume they bypassed the fad.
I remember winning this game in a Kids WB sweepstakes with like 3 booster packs as well when I was like 10 or something. I also remember not knowing how the heck to play this when it was so different from the actual game. haha
Damn was hoping they would have noticed that if you hit square to attack a monster, it actualy pulled up 3D renders of the monster attacking the other. Would have been an epic moment for the continue crew!
Hey just a little bit about our show: We usually play games that none of us have played before. We know little to nothing about it. The show is unscripted. These are our genuine reactions. It's a first impression show. We only play for 20-30 minutes. We always sound like idiotic noobs because we're idiots & we've never played the game before. Check out some other episodes. If you like it, cool. If not, MIDDLE FIGER TO YOU! Just kidding, no hard feelings, man. It's just not for you. -Nick Murphy
I preferred Duelist of the Roses over this easily, in this one you tend to get a much shittier starter deck (my highest-level card was a Key Mace #2 in FM, While I tend to get a Kaiser Dragon as my highest in DoR) which doesn't help when the cards have no effects whatsoever, making cards like Swordsman from a Foreign Land & Kuriboh completely useless, thus making a dragon/thunder deck the only useful deck composition in the game for you can just muscle your way through anything with a two-headed thunder dragon and some equip cards.
Hey guys. Another great video! Always nice to come home from work and have one of these waiting to be watched. You're all still as entertaining as ever!
I still have and love this game, even if the rules are constantly being screwed. Also the anime is awesome too. Love you guys, even when you are clueless!
It is still just do shit and win. Like LEMME JUST SPAM MY XYZ AND PENDULUM SUMMON MY WHOLE DECK IN ONE TURN. But playing with old school decks is always fun.
Notice the only guy who was willing to give it another chance afterward was the one who played it hands on. He actually seemed to enjoy learning and stumbling onto the different mechanics. I think this would have been a far more boring video if the guys had done their homework beforehand and didn't have anything to discover.
So what if you were to play fo a half hour a card game that you didn't know the rules of that didnt even follow the official rules. I used to play yugioh all the time, I don't remember putting two weak cards together to make a stronger one or placing a face down attack position monster
hey continue guys, this game is pretty cool because if you have cards yourself you can enter a pin number at the bottom of the card and add that card into your deck if you have enough star chips. Thanks for playing this game brings back good memories
Man this game brings back childhood memories. I wasn't a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh but the game sure is fun. Of course the first times is confusing but once understanding the game and knowing the cards is the most entertaining thing ever. Also it gets really hard as you move on through the game. So hard that I have to say I haven't been able to finish it :'D But I love to play it for fun.
I was really hoping you guys would like this game because it was totally my childhood! I think I still have the game lying around somewhere, till. I've gotten really far in it but haven't been able to beat it (it gets SUPER hard later on - near impossible). But it was fun seeing what you guys had to say about it! You guys are admittedly pretty bad at it, but I probably was, too when I first started playing! Here's hoping Paul liked it after giving the game another Yu-Gi-GOH!
Also, I know you guys didn't touch on it in the video, but you can combine cards to make stronger cards. Like, if you would of hit up on Griggle, and up on that flame thing next to it, you would make Flame Cerberus. Secondly, I think if you hit the square button to initiate a battle, instead of X, a 3D battle between the characters would pop up. Love the show guys, keep it up!
FIFA Football 2005 was the last game ever released for the Playstation 1 in North America on October 12, 2004. In Japan/Asia it was a game called Legendary Hits: Dewprism on January 25, 2007. In Europe it was Schnappi: 3 Fun-Games on March 1, 2005
The best thing about this game was just trying to fuse every card in your hand to see you could make one big monster! That was honestly the only thing that kept me going with this game as a kid. lol
I had this, and with even a base-line knowledge of the actual game, it was hilariously strange and/or broken. This game was based on finding the rare "card codes," which are tiny numbers on the bottom of actual cards, and either get stars to "buy" the rare ones, or do like I did and have a GameShark to give you infinite stars. You could hack the game with a Meteor Dragons (made-up card), Red-Eyes Black Dragons (actual card), and Meteor B. Dragons (also made-up card) combo-ing with EVERYTHING.
yugioh began many years ago in the early 2000's. the manga existed for about 3-5 years prior to its anime release. since then it has over 500 episodes and over 12 seasons.

Don't worry guys, this game is barely related to the actual card game. So, you don't have to worry about the card game players correcting your moves. Though, it was monsters sealed in stone slabs, not cards the Egyptian's used. The depictions of the monsters became the images used in the card game.

I play yu-go-oh legit and I was like WTF are those sign things.
Seriously, wtf are those sign things
They're the elemental bonuses :P All based around planets and such
huh. never seen 'em before
Forbidden Memories is certainly odd compared to rl Yugioh. No effects, fuse cards without poly, can only play one card per turn, and the whole guardian star system. If you do ever get it, one tip: Dragons and Thunders are your friends.

The fact that they completely wrecked this game without any understanding of what they're doing is astounding
Well, it's pretty much impossible to lose in the beginning. The game eventually skyrockets to NES levels of difficulty later on.
Dude. Jontron killed me. Not with a sword or on purpose, but with his love. I loved and trusted him. My trust betrayed me.
I come back to this vid from time to time when i randomly remember the term "bearded griggle".
The fact that the guys of Continue play Magic and know all the terminology is like the coolest thing ever.
LMAO, The "Not so fast Kaiba.." Yugioh impression was pretty damn good and hilarious.
I agree it wasn't your usual type of game but your humor always pulls through. keep it up guys! [:
From now on whenever I deal direct damage I will no longer say "I attack you directly" my new thing will be "I'm gonna Griggle your ass."
This episode was awesome 'cause you guys had no idea what was going on, and I love seeing that.
This is Yugioh. No one knows the rules
As someone who plays Yu-Gi-Oh on some occasions, this game is very confusing to me. No wonder I never got that far in it when I was a kid.
yugioh, zelda and dbz= my childhood
Dear Daniel,
We fucking love you.
PS: It is a good name. -Nick Murphy
Wait, did you guys just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn?
***** That's against the youtube rules, isn't it?
***** SCREW THE RULES I HAVE GREEN HAIR!
***** SCREW THE MONEY I HAVE RULES!!!! Wait can I try that again?
Where we going?
Josh
I played a 50yo man and his grandson at my locals. Family bonding over a mutual hobby. It was nice.
As a huge Yugioh fan for years, this episode made me chuckle and smile. Great work guys! :)
This is one of my favorite episodes just because of how clueless they are about Yu-Gi-Oh.
I play yugioh in real life and had this game, I still don't understand it...
León Arcano That's because it has nothing to do with the actual card game. I think the part in the episode is funny when Josh makes a joking remark about how people who know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh are going to comment saying that they chose the wrong sign, because I'm pretty sure no other games had those.
Doesn't this game go by Bandai rulings?
Nvermind. This game IS dumb.
gurvmlk Agreed, they thought defense mode was playing a trap card
Thanks for hating us less.
-Nick, Not Josh
I loved this game for what it was as a kid, but I hated having to forget *Everything* about the actual card game to follow the rules in this and the tv show. :(
This game followed the early rule of Duel Monster which was the Pegasus arc which means basically no fusion card necessary unless it's big fusion and no sacrifices when you summon a level 5 or above.
Yeah you like most felt that one moment where you fused 2 weak cards into a badass card that moments what this game is about.
Wow you guys know a lot more about magic than I thought you did! That's awesome!
As an ex-player, think the best time to play was like the year after they finally banned Cyber-Stein from the Advanced Rules. Yeah, there was still the meta decks, but there were so many anti-meta options it was definitely fun. However, I must say, before I quit the game, I did notice one trend - Solemn Judgment (the game's "Fuck you card", since it negated pretty much anything at the cost of half your LP) started to slip into every one of my decks.
Konami remedied that with a quick ban that's been enforced ever since.
charles cfo
I know. It was the only time they had an "emergency ban" because it won against a Chain Burn deck at some major tourny. I am saying for about the year afterwards was pretty good - even though monarches were still the staple, there was enough variety to have fun with.

I pretend to be a lot of things...sympathetic, caring, a boy....but pretending to not know how to play Yu Gi Oh isn't one of them.
Josh
This makes me wanna get back into Yu-Gi-Oh
This is so different from the actual card game its amazing they could still put the Yugioh name on it.
*glares at the original series*
This game was cool cuz you kinda didn't have to know anything. No effect monsters and fusions were super easy and non specific. I was like I hope they figure out fusion monsters and they totally did by accident. 10/10
As a huge Yugioh fan, this video is both hilarious and cringe worthy. I know that in this game the game is different, but it's still great.
Considering when they were born in the 80s, and this didn't get popular in the US until like the late 90s/early 2000, I think it's safe to assume they bypassed the fad.
I remember winning this game in a Kids WB sweepstakes with like 3 booster packs as well when I was like 10 or something. I also remember not knowing how the heck to play this when it was so different from the actual game. haha
I remember kids WB
Oh lolz, giving you a adaption which has almost nothing to do with additional structured cards!
Damn was hoping they would have noticed that if you hit square to attack a monster, it actualy pulled up 3D renders of the monster attacking the other. Would have been an epic moment for the continue crew!
This isn't yugioh. That's not how you play it. THIS IS A SHAM!
The gasp they did when they saw they could put a name in was priceless.
ITS LIKE MAGIC EXCEPT FASTER AND BETTER
Hey just a little bit about our show: We usually play games that none of us have played before. We know little to nothing about it. The show is unscripted. These are our genuine reactions. You just got GRIGGLED
Thanks man! We appreciate it.
I fucking loved this game
"Only if you're a savant!"
... Oh. Oh. THAT's why I like YuGiOh
i played this as a little kid and just tried to combine every card possible
Oh my god for the first time ever Continue? Plays a game I played as a kid. This was amazing. You guys are amazing. Keep being amazing.
Wine was used for cleaning wounds back in that time
Magic: The Gathering should have a Television show and if it does already have one I should be watching it.
*Checks the internet*
Nope.
I would think that a MTG TV mini-series about the maze runners in Ravinica would be badass
Hey guys. Another great video! Always nice to come home from work and have one of these waiting to be watched. You're all still as entertaining as ever!
I should change my surname to "Shertz".
Capital Z.
I still have and love this game, even if the rules are constantly being screwed.
Also the anime is awesome too.
Love you guys, even when you are clueless!
Hahha back when YuGiOh had no structure and it was just do shit and win
I olxyyyk
It is still just do shit and win. Like LEMME JUST SPAM MY XYZ AND PENDULUM SUMMON MY WHOLE DECK IN ONE TURN. But playing with old school decks is always fun.
Oscar Sánchez TG Old school Yugioh was just staples. New school yugioh is too complicated for my taste. But in between is fantastic.
God I hate meta if you aren't doing like 5 moves per turn then you're losing plus all the decks are the same for the most part and it's boring
@@My1234567890ab Nah bro it doesn't go like that faaaar from it.
Josh was on fire in this one! Loved that episode
Yugioh is actually quite fun if you have a competent, human opponent ...
+cesposito27
Yeah. Get a job. Because working people the work do not play card games....... wait what?
little did they know this game doesn't even slightly resemble the actual rules lol
"You idiots! IT WAS SATURN!"
The Sega Channel Dad joke goes this far back?
👍😂🤣
YuGiOh! is nothing like Magic..
I actually find them very similar
Man that was the best Continue? I've seen in a while!! So much laughter
you cant really play a yugioh game if you dont know how to play lol.
Considering he was winning, I beg to differ.
nobody knows how to play yugioh.
MrSuperpicklesalad Not even people who play Yugioh know how to play Yugioh.
For games that follow the legit rules of Yu-Gi-Oh!, I would agree, but this game did the dumbed down video game kind, so meh.
Luke Teller I thought we just made up the rules as we went along.
I loved this episode! Laughed so hard. Epic win my amigos
Their ignorance is just annoying.
Its rather funny than annoying
Notice the only guy who was willing to give it another chance afterward was the one who played it hands on. He actually seemed to enjoy learning and stumbling onto the different mechanics. I think this would have been a far more boring video if the guys had done their homework beforehand and didn't have anything to discover.
Dan Renaydo Paul always continues in games he does well in
It really is. But then again, the game itself is pretty ignorant to the TCG and to the anime
So what if you were to play fo a half hour a card game that you didn't know the rules of that didnt even follow the official rules. I used to play yugioh all the time, I don't remember putting two weak cards together to make a stronger one or placing a face down attack position monster
I'm just here for the Dragonforce monster name. 8:40
It's weird knowing the ins and outs of this game and watching these guys play it. I can't help but face palm every 10 seconds xD
Show was good AF
CONTINUously come back to this video when I need to show my friends who play YU-GI-OHHHHHHHH how REAL masters duel 🫵
This game had no rules. Just like the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Seasons xD
Liked the card game as a kid, hated this game, but loved this video. You guys can make any game a blast
hey continue guys, this game is pretty cool because if you have cards yourself you can enter a pin number at the bottom of the card and add that card into your deck if you have enough star chips. Thanks for playing this game brings back good memories
If they had pressed a certain button it actually makes the two creatures come out of the cards in 3d and you see them attack each other
Never thought a yugioh game would ever get reviewed in this show. gg Continue ^^
OH MY GOD CONTINUE
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
THIS GAME WAS MY CHILDHOOD
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PLAYING THIS
BRING IT IN
HUG ME
TIGHT
Paul obviously believes in the heart of the cards. That is how we won those duels.
Man this game brings back childhood memories. I wasn't a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh but the game sure is fun. Of course the first times is confusing but once understanding the game and knowing the cards is the most entertaining thing ever. Also it gets really hard as you move on through the game. Dude, Josh, you're my fave. Much love your way, man.
I still love Forbidden Memories. It's one of the few Yugioh games that stuck with me.
I love Yu-Gi-Oh and I love Continue. I can easily say I love this video already without even watching it.
Can't believe you guys played this game. Nostalgia is on ultra!
should of pressed square to see animation
YeSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I am so happy you guys reviewed this game!! This just made my week!
I love how many of the old Yu-Gi-Oh! video games had their own versions of the game mechanics.
"Alright Cleveland! We're gonna play Wings of the Wicked Flame!"
/Guitar riffs/
I'm dying. The filter on the voice and the accent was priceless.
Dear Continue
I fucking love this show.
PS: Nick Murphy... that name sounds so good
FIFA Football 2005 was the last game ever released for the Playstation 1 in North America on October 12, 2004. In Japan/Asia it was a game called Legendary Hits: Dewprism on January 25, 2007. In Europe it was Schnappi: 3 Fun-Games on March 1, 2005
The best thing about this game was just trying to fuse every card in your hand to see you could make one big monster! That was honestly the only thing that kept me going with this game as a kid. lol
If you press circle or something you can see animations of the monsters fighting each other.
Best Continue intro ever!
yugioh began many years ago in the early 2000's. the manga existed for about 3-5 years prior to its anime release. since then it has over 500 episodes and over 12 seasons.
Was that just James Doakes on a Continue video?
I just fell in love all over again.
"I crafted!"
i remember yugioh lore from the show, it's so funny to hear you guys fuck up a couple of times
I actually want to play it again now that you mention it. I remember it being enjoyable.
Continue you have my respect, hats off to you, from London
hahahaha i loved this episode. this game was like one of my favorites as a kid. it doesnt actually follow the card game rules at all. juuust like the anime. good job guys!
I had this game as a kid, and even though I actually played the Yu-Gi-Oh card game (and kinda still did up until a few years ago), my reaction was like their reactions were in this video. Also, they didn't even get to the really hard parts near the end of the Ancient Egypt part, and at the beginning of the present day part. This game makes my childhood sad
Dude, your profile pic is Canas! I know almost nobody else here knows who the hell that is, but I do, and you're awesome for having it!
Oh my god, please do moreof this game.. That was HILARIOUS! x'D
Don't worry guys, this game is barely related to the actual card game. So, you don't have to worry about the card game players correcting your moves. Though, it was monsters sealed in stone slabs, not cards the Egyptian's used. The depictions of the monsters became the images used in the card game.
The normal kid was Yugi, and the deep voiced guy was prince Yami. He turns into Yami whenever he duels, kind of like a Power Ranger...
Yugioh was big back when I was in elementary school. I still have a stack of cards lying around.
