As some of you may know (from my life update video) I recently went through an Ectopic Pregnancy and a huge part of that journey was my recovery using Methotrexate. When I first received the shot, I had so many questions that I kept googling and not finding the answers to. I decided to sit down and go over all the questions I had and tell you what my experience was like.
Disclaimer: every body is different and everybody is different. My experience may not be the same as yours but I made this video with the intention of hopefully bringing comfort to the 1 in 50 women that experience an ectopic pregnancy.

Thanks for the video. This is my third ectopic and second methotrexate experience. I have already had a ruptured ectopic and it is traumatic. I didn’t know anything about ectopic when I first had it. Women need more awareness about this as it is life threatening

This has been so incredibly reassuring. I am on Day 5 of the methotrexate and trying to be patient but it's the scariest feeling just waiting and imagining what could happen. Thank you for sharing this- it makes me feel a lot better.

Thank you for your video. I had an ectopic pregnancy in August 2021. I also had doctors disregard my concerns and symptoms and I had to have emergency surgery after my left tube ruptured. The trauma from this experience is so hard to explain. I am now going through a possible ectopic pregnancy again at nearly 5 weeks pregnant. I have learnt to be stronger and advocate for my own care. Your video has helped me prepare for what might be to come and to hopefully save my remaining tube. You are so right about the anxiety surrounding periods now. Everytime I get what I think is my period I do a pregnancy test to make sure. I hope this has allowed me to catch the problem early enough this time if it is in fact ectopic.

@@BloomingBabe unfortunately yes, it was another ectopic. It was actually an unusual ectopic that was on the stump of the tube they had removed after my first ectopic. I had my methotrexate injection not long after my first comment. The trauma surrounding what happened has stopped me from trying to get pregnant naturally now. My husband and I will start IVF next month. There is still a chance of ectopic pregnancies even with IVF but I am trying to remain hopeful that if the egg is placed in the right spot we may see a viable pregnancy
@@tonicox7420 Hi, I had the same experience as you. After my second ectopic pregnancy I don’t want to try to conceive naturally due to anxiety of having another ectopic. This experience was awful. We’re thinking about doing IVF but I would like to remove my tube first cuz I don’t want to risk having another ectopic. Were you able to have a successful Ivf pregnancy? Please let me know
@@Petslovers-tr7uh I am so sorry to hear that you have had a similar experience and sorry for your pain, it truly is a horrible thing to have to endure. We haven't had much luck with IVF as yet and honestly my anxiety regarding another ectopic hasn't decreased as it is still possible for it to happen again. If you do go down the IVF path make sure to find the best specialist for you. It is a hard journey and you really need the right people by your side. I wish you all the success. Make sure to be kind to yourself, I know how hard it is but it is so important in order to get through all these stages.

I'm on on second day spotted yesterday, dizzy, blurry vision, slept 30+ hours, feet sweating, emotional a mess, headache, feel so empty, tired, weak.... I'm so scared and nervous. I really needed this video, they can't find my baby. I'm hurting so much physically and mentally. Thank you so much, I felt so alone.

I just found out yesterday that am having an ectopic pregnancy at 5.5 weeks. The doctors suggested i go for surgery but kept postponing and the following morning said i should do the medication instead coz my symptoms are not severe, just light abdorminal pain and light bleeding, hcg level is at 2000, waiting to take the dose. Its comforting to know that am not alone, thank you for sharing.

Please take extra care of your diet after methotrexate shot. Do not eat anything that says it contains enriched flour (example- breads, pastas, ) or anything rich in folate/folic acid or vitamin B9. Methotrexate strips the body of this vitamin. If you keep eating more folate, it will take longer and probably multiple doses. It’s shocking how little information is available for diet after methotrexate for ectopic. Best to discuss with your doctor. I’m mainly eating only boiled potatoes:( it really sucks, but I’d rather take a few days of extra trouble rather than prolonging this phase :(
last thursday i found out that i was ectopic mama and had my methotrexate yesterday. It’s painful to know that i am letting the little soul go.

I thought the only remedy was removing the tube, my both tubes have been removed cus of ectopic 😭

I got to know about my ectopic yesterday and got my first methotrexate.. it hurts a lot, I have been feeling dizzy, nauseated, too tierd.. I am kind of scared, but so thankful that you posted it.. ❤️

@@The_Mom_Baker it gets better physically but yeah.. sometimes it still affects me mentally.. I wasn't even aware that I was pragnent when I got to know about my ectopic. It's surprising to see how much grief can one carry for someone who wasn't even here.

I got my first round on Friday during a Laparoscopic surgery that directly targeted the ectopic pregnancy, I want to ask you if u got it the same or by intravenous injection?

I am on day two of methotrexate, no spotting (I never had spotting), I am also getting pinching or pulsing pains on the side that has the TP, I was so nervous about the feeling so thank you for this video!!! I also have headaches and backache. N it's so funny I've been talking to my baby and God. I am hoping for the best in all this. Thank you for this video it helped all my fears.
I’ve got an injection two days ago in the afternoon, and that evening was really scary for me. I guess those were side effects a few hours after. I started to feel super sick, vomiting, diarrhea, fading, sweating, my hands started to numb, pretty strong pain in the bottom of my stomach and lower back and heavy, heavy bleeding. For a few minutes I thought I was going to pass out, but about after 30 min I started to feel much better and just went early to bed. Next day I had little bit of pain and bleeding and today it’s less bleeding and less pain. I’m grateful that I was able to find out early and was qualified for an injection. I believe that everything will be good now. I’m feeling better and I know that there is a rainbow after the rain ☀️🌈😊I have to stay positive for my future, for myself and the future baby. We all have to stay strong 💪

I really appreciate this post! Hcg is 85 and I think I've gotten back into exercising prematurely and suspect that has been prolonging my bleeding! Super helpful guidance and share that let's us out there know we're not alone! ❤
The same thing happened to me! I was hemorrhaging and I found out it’s because I started working out too soon and didn’t allow myself enough time to heal. Sending you so much love 💕
So sorry for you & all others who went through/going through an ectopic pregnancy. I had 2 fetuses growing in my left ovary. It was sooo very painful 😣 my husband and I had been joking & celebrating that it could be twins…. Turns out it was twins , but not what we hoped :( I’m waiting for my first hCG after methotrexate shot. Can’t wait to make a fresh start. When did you find your ectopic pregnancy and what were your symptoms? I mean which week after your periods was missed. Since my doctor said that they couldn't see and confirm anything in ultrasound until hcg value is 1800

@@shrutikat5312 my hcg was 1856 . It was Week 7 going on . Doc didn't make any solid statements about "fetuses" . The person who was doing my repeated trans vaginal ultrasounds was showing me on the screen while looking at left ovary that a blood- like outline was present on 2 "cysts" and that those don't look like "cysts" at all. She said that blood halo means it is a fetus.

wow thank you for this video. You answered so many questions. I received my shot about 5 days ago and just started bleeding today. I have my next blood work scheduled for Monday and hoping for some improvement.

Today is day 2 after the mtx but I haven’t taken any Tylenol yet cuz I’m not experiencing any severe cramps.. I’m going to check my levels tomorrow, hope it gets down from 500. Thank you

Thank you so much for posting this. You're right I've never seen anything about this on TV, films or books. It's terrifying going through this when you've never heard about it before. No one understands that going through this makes you terrified to ever have sex. I have a ectopic pregnancy and had a IUD so it's awful to come to the realisation that the most effective form of contraception for women can result in ectopic. There should be more options out there for me women to feel safe living in a man's world sucks.

Hi there! I just wanted to day you literally helped get through my ectopic pregnancy! I feel we had the exact same experience, even I had a doctor disregard me and told me my emergency Isnt severe enough which is taking away from “real emergencies”. Little did he know i was sitting there with an ectopic pregnancy! Really angers me, however I had similar questions as you and by watching your video I felt so good and secured.i even didn’t know if i should take Tylenol for my cramps. I found out I had an ectopic January 13 & was cleared January 28 of this year. It was probably the scariest experience I have ever had. My methotrexate experience was pretty bad too. I’m still nervous about getting pregnant because I’m scared it is going to happen again.. For months after my ectopic when I got my period i would take a test just to make sure I wasn’t pregnant and the symptoms of my period triggered my experience every time. I’m still coping & working thru my issues. I hope you are doing ok ❤️

I took methotrexate shot at HCG level of 549 and then after 4 days it dropped to 1 after 2 weeks did another HCG blood test it was still 1

I had a lot of heavy bleeding for about three days, some pretty sharp cramps as well. Tomorrow will make it three weeks. Still some light cramping still but nothing like the first week. Stay strong I’m here for any questions. It’s a scary experience physically and mentally❤️

I'm now my second day of methotrexate 1st dose..It was my first conception... I was feeling cramping for 3 days. After consultant with gyanc she told me to do pregnancy test, and what i found i was pregnant and also endangered my life at a same time...Now I'm feeling grief and in pain...why happened this to me!

I had the injection yesterday, 4 seconds later I passed out, fell straight to the floor now I’m in more pain from the fall I can’t even feel the soreness from the injection. It was a crazy experience for me but it made me stronger. I’m ready to tackle this

@@LayanBee I have to comment again just so I don’t scare any ladies out there suffering with an ectopic, it was partly my own fault I hadn’t been eating or taking pain meds and since my body has been through so much I should have looked after myself better. I’m back on track though getting plenty of fluids and eating as much as I can, I think the worst is over. :)

I am on my methotrexate second dose. My levels have came down today from 3980 to 2340. I am so anxious that when they will come to 0..! I am not able to eat anything.. feeling nausea all the time..lot of weakness.. really not able to coop in current situation. Hoping it gets better soon.

I had my ectopic in sep 2021 and I was devastated. But my doc was very patient enough to make me understand what is better for me. I was injected with 2 doses and I experienced decidual cast after my first dose and then HCG dint fall so was injected with 2nd dose. Got my first periods after ectopic in nov. Am on folic acid since feb and now hoping for the rainbow baby

I have three times suffered with ectopic pregnancy, first in left tube, next in right tube and then also in left tube, firstly i was treated by laprotomy, second time with methotrexate and now third times fist shot of methotrexate done but no bleeding still, i cant explain how painful to lose cardic activity you feel in your body ☹

I was taken to the ER for the worst pain I've ever had in my life, and I'm a lifelong kidney stone sufferer. I received MTX 72 hours ago, and I'm still in pain. My pain is in my uterus now, not my right side. I hope this ends soon. I took miralax thinking I was horribly constipated. While on the toilet, I felt like I was giving birth. I have an extremely high pain tolerance, but this has been awful. I was 7 weeks. It was not confirmed that it was ectopic but since they couldn't find anything in my uterus, they were treating it like an ectopic. The worst part though, is the thought of them being wrong. What if the barely 20 year old girl who did my US didn't do it right? What if it was hidden somewhere in my uterus? What if I just killed my baby? I had a major attack night before last.
Then, I read my medical record, and it says, "Elective abortion." I'm in medical, so I know how they label things, but its hard to read that on there.
Hey Keeley. I am currently going through the same thing. I was given MTX 48 hours ago. I had an ectopic pregnancy according to my doctor. The pain and nausea is beyonddd me ! The constipation is ridiculous. But I hope you feel better. I pray this pain and symptoms does not last very long.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I have gone through this in February 2022. It was very hard for me to understand what had happened in my first pregnancy. When I felt some abdominal pain I went to doctor and she has checked my bets hcg level and did the scan and then they noticed that pregnancy is not in right place. So send me emergency hospital and they checked my hcg level again after 2 days and it went down without any treatment.
But still they decide to give methotraxate treatment.
Now it's already 2 months and I am back to normal physically.

Most Dr will not do surgery if the 15% doesn't show.. they'll give you a second shot in hopes that it bumps things up..then surgery if your body is still not taking to it.
It is a tough journey..long..and emotionally draining.
Stay away from EVERYTHING green..with folic acid and stop taking your prenatals.
Drinks lots of water.. green tea and rest..rest..rest your body. Stop doing everything and just rest..it is very important

I got my methorexate shot on Monday and I'm experiencing stabbing pains on my abdomen like more painful that period painsl. I went back to ER yesterday because it was so painful and they told me it's not ruptured so it may be the medication working. I'll get another bloodwork tomrrow and I'll be back for a follow up check up on Monday.
The exact same thing happened to me. I woke up on my third day with stabbing pains directly where my ectopic was and I was so scared I ruptured but I talked to my doctor and he said you would know if it’s a rupture but the pain could be the medicine working. The next morning I was completely better

I know you said you’re scared of maybe being pregnant, or maybe confusing early pregnancy symptoms with period symptoms but I was told not to try and have another for at least 6 months.
Going through this experience is draining to say the least. On December 10th I started bleeding and assumed it was my period. Normally I bleed about 5 days so when December 20th came around I started to worry because I was still bleeding and very heavy at that point. I decided to go to the hospital and when I was checked, it was determined I have an ectopic pregnancy. On December 22nd I received a shot of methotrexate and it’s been a waiting game ever since. Day 4 my numbers went up but day 7 my numbers went down from 950 to 606. As of 1/16 I’m down to 131. Have another blood test on 1/22 and I’m hoping I will finally be under 100. What still concerns me is the off and on bleeding. It seems like it never ends! This is a long and draining process but hoping I get to the finish line soon.
My prayers goes to you dear... Don't bother about the bleeding, it will definitely finish gradually,,eat enough fruit especially watermelon and drink a lot of water.. don't stress and don't carry anything heavy..have enough rest ❤❤❤

I found it's a ectopic pregnancy for me I had a little spotting I went to ER thy did ultrasound nd told me u shud do transvaginal ultrasound and found its etopic pregnancy I have taken 1 and 2 dose of methotrexate but I dont ve pain r bleeding till know please pray for me it's almost 8days

I had my shot 4 days ago and got my blood test today and today is Day 4 and hcg levels went fron 2000 something to 3000 something and im scared that it didn't work.
Thanks for sharing your experience with ectopic pregnancy and methotrexate. I am just going through this right now, got a lot of stomach pain on day 2 after the shot and was kept in the hospital cos they could see some free fluid (internal bleeding), luckily it resolved itself the next day and I could go home after 2 nights at the hospital. Today is day 6 and I’m having strong stomach pain again but not as much as on day 2. I just hope I’m not bleeding and that this is the MTX doing it’s job. It just feels like I have internal wound and if I move too much it may bleed again. Lying in bed feels much better. It was my first pregnancy ever and I really pray the Lord gives me a healthy baby with the next one soon. Did you have any of these symptoms? Did you have another baby after the ectopic? I hope things worked well for you and all the other ladies who are reading this comment! 🙏🏼❤️
What the limit to be given methotrexate pls. I’m going through a lot and it’s my 6wks
@@Mama-ly2zg my gyn said most ruptures occur after wk 8 or 9 but I don’t think there is a strict limit as can depend on many factors. The important for me was to be convinced there was no uterine pregnancy before taking the MTX as I had no big symptoms or pain. They suspected ectopic at ~wk6 and I took the MTX at ~wk8, after following the HCG and having US almost daily for 2wks. My heart and prayers go out to you 🙏🏼

I’m on day 4. I have a missed miscarriage and trying to avoid surgery bc I have fibroids and scar tissue. Day 2 I had bleeding, dizzy drunk/ high feeling and extreme fatigue. I was nauseous from day one head aches and slight cramps. The bleeding has now stopped. Nervous about my labs today.

Yes, even i felt a little pain after a month but it stayed for 2-3 dAys and then i was all good, so keep thinking in positive direction this too shall pass ❤️

I tried the methotrexate but it did not work in time so I had to have emergency surgery.
I'm day 1 post shot....in the most unbearable pain and super nauseous. I was justifying it saying i was just being dramatic but with levels at 3323 prior to i think im going to the er just to make sure. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you heal and gpd blesses you in life

Thank u for such an informative vedio... I m experiencing my first ectopic pregnancy going through Methotrxate shots. I have to take 3 shots as my beta hcg was continuously increasing from 2000 it increased to 6000 on my 2 nd shot. Post 3 rd shot it starting going down with heavy bleeding n cramps. I m on 4 th week of the treatment n still my beta hcg is 900. I just had one question are we not supposed to do any heavy physical activity while undergoing treatment??? Pls try to answer this if possible

After the shot and healing, is there any procedure that they remove the cell/baby inside the fallopian, or it will remain there or how it will remove there? Because I believe if it will stays there then it will cause another ectopic in the future?

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’m not a doctor but from my understanding, the methotrexate shot dissolves the cells in the tube so the egg will be gone once you’re fully healed

Today is day 9 after methotrexate, just a little spotting, little nausea but any other symptoms. Hcg levels went up since the day I received 2 doses of methotrexate. I will be going to doctors office in 2 days.

@@LayanBeethank you. When I went to the doctor’s, he found a sack and a baby in my uterus. But didn’t have a pulse. I think he misdiagnosed, he said he doesn’t what happened. I ended up miscarrying the next day.
