- 2024 Topps Series 2 is here! The checklist was finally released today in anticipation for the full release on June 12th. 2024 Topps Series 2 has a more shallow pool of rookies than sets in the past, but there are still some solid rookies to target. One difference in this product is going to be the heavy focus on international players like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Jung Hoo Lee, and Shota Imanaga. Even though there are a few rookie headliners, there are a few other sleeper rookies that I break down in this video.
Note: The following players ARE NOT on the checklist and are being held out until Topps Update: Jackson Holilday, Jackson Chourio, Jared Jones, Andy Pages, Wyatt Langford, Jackson Merrill, Paul Skenes, and more. Topps Update is looking like it will be the flagship set of the year.
Scottie, how do you feel about them including Chourio, Merrill and Langford as SP RCs in the set?
Omg Wilyer Abreu has to be on that list! He’s having ROY numbers. He’s just been slapping it and defensively he’s been a stud!
Yeah he should be in over Noelvi Marte for sure
Winn has been crushing it this year and no buzz lol
Yay! We have been waiting for this vid. Update will be fire, but this is solid
Keep up the great work, Scottie!
Caminero hit minor leagues and blistered through his first season. I think he will be the one true stud from this list!
I hope. I have an auto of his and I keep turning down lowball offers. He is absolutely a Top 3 RC for me to get.
Stop me if you've heard this before, but 2024 Update might be an insane set for rookies
Thanks for the video!
Nice and cool!
There are baseball stars rookie autos for Langford and Holliday which are stickers but Chourio actually has 89 throwback on-card autos. Worth just waiting for Update as a Brewers fan with Gasser and Black coming too.
Yoshi has always been my favorite 🦖
Wilyer Abreu is in series 2. Prob should have been on the list over Marte at least.
Crazy good video. You should charge for this info. ❤
I agree the update set could be loaded
Masyn Winn is tough and Junior Caminero is also. That's my two top picks.
I definitely won’t be chasing any of these
Random comment just to help support the channel
I've been waiting on Lawler and Crow to hit the bigs for what seems like forever!😂
Preordered an hta box of series 2 and was disappointed when the checklist came out.
They are gonna make update wild this year. Holliday skenes langford merrill
And it'll be printed to the moon
Skenes might be saved for next year, his Topps now cards don’t have a RC stamp they have a “call up” stamp
@dylanl3845 that'd be terrible. He debuted what almost 3 weeks ago at this point. Mid May he definitely makes the cutoff. Hope he's in update update is gonna be wild this year
Ok? @@chrisc4264
@dylanl3845 this is not correct. His topps now cards has RC logo. Anyone called up this week and onward will be held for 2025
Winning MVP awards in NPB can be misleading because they typically will only vote for a player on a playoff team. Yamamoto is definitely a stud though and certainly worth collecting.
Wyatt langford and jackson chourio are now included as SPs
SP has no meaning to me. Not numbered. It's a vague term just like SSP. If only we had mandatory print runs
Winn and shota for sure caminero and Lawlar maybe after that I don’t think any of these guys are chasers
Yamamoto as well
probably not gonna rip too much of this.
Joey Ortiz not in the product? Damn.
Ortiz rookie cards came out late last year in Topps Update and Chrome Update
What about Merrill?
Seems like no one cares about Merrill haha. Probably because he doesn’t hit home runs. He will be in Update. He does have a Baseball Stars auto in Series 2, but I believe that’s his only card in the release. Can’t wait for Update.
Why no holiday or Langford
Topps did not include them in this set. They will be in 2024 Topps Update.
@@scottiebcards2354 that really thins out this checklist
I understand no Holliday but why no Langford or Churio. Topps has typically included players that make the opening day roster in Series 2, with the exception of 2022. The strike delayed the season but they still made sps for the big opening day guys although it was probably the biggest disaster ever.
Andy pages?
Pages is not in this product unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
If youve only had 14 AB in the big leagues you shouldnt get a score for that column. Not saying Kjerstad is going to be a stud but thats like 3 games dragging his score
Fair critique. He’s been jerked around by the Orioles with playing time. He was demoted back to the minors after not looking ready which is why I gave him a lower score. It is also why I have four categories since all of them have their own imperfections. Being in the top ten really is what matters on this list.
In my honest opinion Wilyer abreu has been better than all these guys, easy collect for me
1000% that guy gives 200% every game. Defensively he’s super reliable and his numbers at the plate are solid too!
Why not Jared Jones? He's been better than yamamoto
Hi! After second review, Jared Jones is not on this checklist. That is why I initially did not include him. Thanks for watching!
@@scottiebcards2354 Weird he made the opening day roster
This is probably going to be one of the worst Series 2 ever released. Worse than 2021
Noelvi shouldn’t even be on this list. He ruined his card market. Rest of this checklist is poor, real highlight is Imanaga, Caminero, and a small handful of other decent players.
Agreed who would collect a player who’s suspended before he’s in the majors? He has to have a HOF Career just to be collectible and won’t ever be in the HOF. I’m surprised Scottie B even mentioned this guy
That is why I dropped him to number ten and made sure to discuss in length the steroid suspension and how it will hurt his value. If I didn’t include him people would ask why he wasn’t included so I figured it was a happy medium. Thanks for watching!
Damn. Pulled two parallel yesterday. Team logo and rainbow
Looks like a horrible checklist
You talk too much.
