I really enjoyed Billy Summers, a fantastic book. Even shed a few tears once or twice along the way. I think King is writing as well as he's ever written. In fact, I think his writing style is IMPROVING as he gets on in years. He's finding an economy - and maturity and confidence to go along with it - and he's really found a late in life golden surge of inspiration. But every new book by Stephen King is a gift. His life could so easily have ended in 1999 - so we are all privileged to be still getting his stories.
Great review, man. Thank you. And I love that flannel shirt you're wearing, by that way.

I read Billy Summers couple of months ago and I really enjoyed the story. Very well written, good fleshed our characters Billy Summers come out as a nice guy eventhough he's a contract killer but he only kills scum so they not sad loss. I liked the second half when Alice comes in, and they go on a road trip to where a certain haunted hotel was burned down long time ago, nice easter egg there.

I absolutely loved this book. The character building was fantastic. The story was so involved yet easy to keep track of, glad you enjoyed it!

I think it’s interesting that Later was published as a Hard Case crime story, but had a lot of supernatural elements. Billy Summers is a standard King novel, but it’s totally a crime-driven story with no supernatural, or even horror, elements.

That’s a great point. The only problem with Billy Summers not being suitable to be a Hardcase was the length id say.

True, but then the earlier published “Joyland” for HCC also contained supernatural elements.

An amazing book. Even though it is not my favorite of the Stephen King novels (it still ranks high though), Billy became my favorite character King ever created. I don't remember the last time I felt such compassion and pain for a character. A must read.

Thank you for sharing your review! I haven't gotten around to reading this book yet, but I look forward to it!
Also, super random, but I would love to hear your take on the order that you recommend for reading everything related to The Dark Tower series. Related to The Dark Tower series, I've read 'Salem's Lot', 'The Stand', 'The Gunslinger', and 'The Drawing of the Three' (in that order, as suggested by another booktuber), and the next two books on their list are 'The Eyes of the Dragon' and 'The Talisman'. You're one of my go-to people for Stephen King content, so a video like that would be super helpful and fantastic!
Thank you again for another great video 🙂

      Once again thanks for watching!

Where would you rank Billy Summers in all of Stephen King's work? I just watched your video ranking all 61 (62 now) of his books, so I'm curious where this one would land for you.

Hi, again thanks for a great video! Do you know if there is any connection between Alice Maxwell of "Cell" and the one is "Billy Summers"?

    SPOILERS
Late to the party, but I honestly wasn't too keen on the ending, although I enjoyed the book overall. I thought it was much sadder than it had to be. It would have been nice to just have Alice recieve a letter informing her that he's enjoying his retirement on a tropical beach somewhere. But I'm a sucker for happy endings, and Stephen King doesn't always do those.
