    I miss you. I know you got off the site awhile back. You were so kind playing your music and giving free lessons. Hey my friend, I'm 68, and you taught me so much! I'm a 80 percent better guitar player because of your kindness. Thank you, thank you, and thank you-

    Seems like a lot of people are not aware that BW wrote both Maria and Shambala with writing partner Daniel Moore, and he had other minor regional hits, all recorded in his hometown of Dallas. All were released by him before all the covers came out. Solid songs, and a great way to remember him. He was crippled by alcohol by the time notoriety came to him. Another artist that the recording industry could figure out.

    So many good old songs from the 70s. I’ve been listening a lot to Afternoon Delight recently, a song I absolutely loathed for decades. It really is a beautiful tune, as is My Maria.

      Maybe I'll have an epiphany cos Afternoon Delight still sounds ewww to me. Lol. And I was a teen in 1970s. 70s rule.

      That's hilarious! I detest that afternoon delight! Always liked my Maria bw Steven's and Brooks and Dunn versions

    `Thank you James!
    I've been wanting to learn this song since the first time I heard it. Something about that sound, acoustic and aggressive.
    Also wanted to thank you for all your other lessons especially Led Zeppelin. I can tell that you truly get Jimmy Page.
    Your lessons have helped me turn the corner and play songs I didn't think I could.
    You really do have the best lessons and an awesome guitar collection.
    Rock On!

    You are really messed dude… the way you put things across was great. It taught me a bunch of songs that I never even bothered to learn. I appreciate your time… I hope everything is going good for you. Thank you.

    .....Hard song....The world must be in awe at American songs like this one...and the Cowboy Cha- Cha dances that go along with it...both line- dance and couples.......This song could never be invented in Albania...or Russia....it's American all the way...

    Such a great song. Apparently a mixed blessing for ol' BW. He never really got over his lack of follow-up success. Died fairly young i think

    Nice work Brother! Sounds just like Brooks and Dunn! Kix Brooks capoes 2nd fret and plays in D.

    Thanks for calling out the chords, that's kinda how I taught myself. Plus, sometimes the hands quicker than the eye. Plus, it's also an insight to the key and you can figure out what's missing...thanks for all the lessons...

    Thought I would ask you this before I Googled it. What tunings did Keith Richards use in the Stones? Same thing for The Allman Brothers Band? I've been trying to play along with both using my "Riffstation" software program but something always sounds off on a lot of the songs. Thanks in Advance.

    • @taranis1964
      @taranis1964 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hawg427 Keith is known for his use of open G tuning. But there are a lot of stones songs that are still in standard, especially the very early stuff.

    Three Dog Night rushed their version of "Shambala" out to beat B.W. Stevenson's version to the charts. If I'm remembering correctly, the rush caused them to destroy or misplace the multi-tracks for the song, which is why no true stereo version exists.

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the two versions were released within a couple weeks.
