      No, Not even Close...And How would You "Know??" Yes, He was a dynamic guitar slinger, But most of His Songwriting isn't great though 1999 was. Frankly, I'm weary of "fans"

      Prince will always be held in the highest regard. But he is one of the greatest to ever play music. Even he would acknowledge and praise those who paved the way before him.

    It would be Very easy to think that Prince was born with a guitar in his hands.. I Do Not understand how people, other musicians, etc. said that they didn't know he was that good on the guitar.. Where the hell were these people at from 1978 to 2016 ?? Did they have ears ?? WTF, guys and gals.. Prince played Many instruments Very Well, but what he could do with a guitar was Pure Magic !!

      I mean to be fair a lot had to do with access. I didn’t get into prince until I got in college. I wasn’t born when Prince was at his commercial height. My parents weren’t prince fans and you couldn’t easily find old videos of his.

    Those Parade shows were so tight. The Dirty Mind in NYC in 1982 and Parade in Detroit 1986 shows are my favorite shows Prince ever played. This footage you’ve found is gold. The late Parade tour footage and Cat on Star Search. Wow! This might be my favorite episode. Bravo!

    I already knew Tony Toni Tone played with Prince. In their song Born Not To Know from the Who? album, they sing a line "Things are getting crazy, I ain't wearing paisley" was a reference to when they walked away from the Madhouse project.

    People are making a connection between T!T!T! and the Madhouse project. From the information presented here, or from other places that I have found information on the subject either in reading or listening to interviews, I do not make that connection. Eric Leeds does not mention them Madhouse was created to display Eric's sax talent. Prince was going to use T!T!T! as part of Sheila's band and they declined because they wanted mo' money and artistic freedom. Correct me.

    What people got to know is
    A lot of members specially west an Lisa
    Were picked from the inside
    Notably Lisa’s dad 😂😂

    • @Sinnik22
      @Sinnik22  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      explain

    • @nancypatricia511
      @nancypatricia511 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your comment is confusing. A lot of members? Members of what? west and Lisa? Do you mean Wendy and Lisa? Were picked from the inside of what? Where does Mike Melvoin come into the picture?? I know that cell phones can be difficult to use but this makes little sense without guessing what you mean.

    • @nancypatricia511
      @nancypatricia511 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Tony Thanks for the interpretation. Were you appointed? That was also my interpretation. But I wanted them to explain what they meant. But seeing as you got two thumbs up and what looks like a stamp of approval from Sinnik22, I will go with that.

    • @nancypatricia511
      @nancypatricia511 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Polius, What constitutes "a lot of members?? There were/are only five members of The Revolution. And it is WENDY"S dad, Michael Melvoin, NOT Lisa's dad, Gary L. Coleman, who MIGHT have had some power to help Prince crossover, having been a one-time president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. But there is no basis for believing that the choice of any of the members of The Revolution was to somehow get some kudos from someone who had any power to pull strings to help Prince cross over. That is insulting to Prince.
      Lisa Colman came in contact with Prince because a friend of hers, who was a secretary for Steve Fargnoli, Prince's manager, gave Lisa a heads-up when Steve had put the word out that Prince needed a girl keyboardist to replace Gayle. Prince had no idea who Lisa was, let alone her father. And Lisa didn't know who Prince was. Prince was about to send her back to California because he didn't think they could get along. And then he heard her play . . . . . It was because of her talent and the classical training that she brought that she was chosen . . . and that she was white . . . . for aesthetic purposes, of course.
      Wendy, a childhood friend of Lisa, had been traveling with The Revolution. When Prince became aware that Dez was unhappy, he was looking for a new guitarist and heard Wendy playing in her hotel room, not realizing that she even played guitar or, at least, had never heard her play before. How does all of that add up to Prince picking Lisa and Wendy because of who their dads were????? Where are they even in the picture??? From the information that has been presented here for the past two seasons of this series, there is no basis to draw that conclusion.
      Your comment, if I have indeed I interpreted it correctly, puts Prince in a place where he is some sort of inside trader and that he didn't believe in himself. That cheapens his talent and genius. Every decision that Prince made, good or bad, was because he believed in his talent. It also puts Lisa and Wendy in a place of having no talent, and are simply there because their daddies were big in the music business. How did you come to your conclusion from listening to these episodes???? 😂😂😂😂

    • @nancypatricia511
      @nancypatricia511 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tony Why would you answer my question that I directed to one person by responding to another, i.e. sinnik22??
      You felt qualified to answer in someone else’s stead because you hold the same opinion. To Alexander Nevermind, you commented: "Also Wendy and Lisa has their daddy’s connections in the industry to help him crossover, etc.” (S3E1 comments section) Explain how that worked!!! How did “their daddies” accomplish that for Prince?? Prince pulled off some shady things, but that sure ain’t one of them. And you didn’t hear that here. The only way "their daddies" contributed to the cross-over of Prince was by passing on their genes!!
      Why are you, AGAIN, responding to my comment as though it is directed toward you?
      Why did you take everything that I was addressing to SOMEONE ELSE and convolute it into something that I did not even say?
      What business is it of yours to tell me how seriously I should take something that I decide to listen to? You freely flit around the comment sections and give your thoughts and opinions, some of which are very unsubstantiated.
      If we can’t know much about the decisions that Prince made, then how can you make the statement that Prince used Lisa and Wendy’s connection to their fathers to help Prince cross over? So if we can’t know, how can you make that statement as though you can know?
      But when they were doing "the white people count" before the concerts and watched the cross-over happen as the tour progressed, please tell me how "the daddies" were involved in making that happen?
      Oh, we can know by Prince's actions the decisions that he made. It was Prince that made that happen by composing music that appealed to the white population's taste: by composing music in the genres of pop, rock, and punk and melding them with funk!!
      By making the statement about Prince using "connections" to cross over, you strip Prince of the genius that he demonstrated in his quest to break out of the boxes that black artists had been forced into. You strip him of his heroism. Why are you here?
