DAY IN THE LIFE: freshman at the Air Force academy

- This is what a typical day looks like for me at the Air Force academy. Morning classes, PE and then track practice. Since it was the weekend I didn’t study after I got back but usually I would begin studying. With classes online it nice to leave your room and just go to the library because after a while it can get really claustrophobic. I’ve been managing my classes well and I’m excited for how this year is going to go even with all the changes due to COVID. We are in off-season for track so workouts are not super straining, we work on conditioning, strength and endurance right now. just stay safe with the online posts! I have seen so many airman on active duty get into trouble over social media, youtube, etc! You would never think something is an issue until you see someone else get in trouble for it! Good luck to you!

Love the video. It’s a nice look into a day at the academy. My dad retired USAF Major and served 26 years (6 was Marine Corp which he hated). If I could go back 20 years I would love to go this route. Good luck to you!
yessss, this is my dream school, because you don’t have to pay and i’m not fortunate enough to go to a school to pay tuition. Also my dad was in the air force

Why not go to community college first and then transfer? It’s cheap.
@@dogestranding5047 you can’t transfer in you have to apply and do all 4 years.

No, you don't generally get into both. You would only get into prep if you didn't get into the actual USAFA.

I am so very proud of you. I visited the Airforce Academy last week when my daughter's team, Cal State Fullerton, played basketball against your team. We lost the game, but I was in awe of your campus, your commitment, and your courage.
Can you do a video of your basketball team? Let them know that although I don't like for my daughter's team to lose games, it was a loss that made me proud of your team.

Apply for academy @ 18. You'll be 27 when your minmum time is over (3 more inactive reserves) with no student debt and so much work and leadership experience as an officer. I'm a NCO and wish that I went this route. I would have saved a lot of time. But, there's valuable things that I learned. Hope your time at the academy goes well, Lt. You have such a bright future ahead of you and you will make a great officer!

It makes me so happy to see your journeys and you improving at the academy! I would be so grateful to join the academy but the acceptance rate is 11.1% and makes me so worried I won’t get in. Right now I am a sophomore in high school and will be transferring to a college and career academy. Hopefully that will post my chances in getting in! If you guys have tips to help getting into the academy please let me know and also let others know.

I think that this is the route I want to take, and I have some questions! First, do you have any suggestions on how to get into the academy? (I am going to be a junior in high school). How do you make your class schedules? Do you get to pick roommates if you already know a person beforehand taking the same route as you?

I am applying to USAFA right now and I’m nervous I won’t get in because I do not do sports :/ Ive aced all of my interviews and I have my medical and nomination. I am doing my CFA again and I improved a lot! I am just nervous that since I do not play a sport I won’t get in :/

I just had an interview for the position of Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at USAFA. I hope I get a second interview, and eventually the job. Teaching at an institution where students are disciplined and averaged a 31 on the ACT is probably the best scenario one could ask for.

@@kirpthedirp1067 I did not. USAFA hired a cadet that just graduated from Illinois. I will probably apply again in the future when Dr. Ashtiani decides to retire.

Hey thanks you!!! Yes I applied to West Point as well but the atmosphere at USAFA was more of my vibe. There was more of a balance between military and traditional college at USAFA. I felt I could fit in more at USAFA

hey, I'm brazilian and I have the desire of joining the us air force academy, and I would like to know if in the weekends the cadets can leave and go stay with their families (because here in Brazil the cadets leave the air force academy at friday after the end of the duties and can go stay with their families or girlfriends, coming back at sunday night).

Hey! Just a quick question. That flight suit in the beginning caught my attention because I would like to be a pilot in the AF. How come she wears that uniform while you wear OCP’s? Thanks.

Hey! So That week we were supposed to pick up our flight suits and she had done so the day before but I hadn’t picked mine up til that day so that’s why I put it on later in the video
And yes there are aviation classes for lower classmen! I am in an aviation class called intro to power flight right now :)
