The area you passed is known for Platinum and Chrome mining. South Africa has the richest deposit of that mineral. The plant with smoke is a furnace for ferrochrome.
Pretoria was for many months struggling with public services, all the municipal workers under the union were on strike, this affected a lot of services including water, waste removal and street cleaning etc. The strike only ended end of November, when workers agreed to get back to work although their demands were not met.

That toll gate is the last one when you count them from Mpumalamga to Botswana. So their prices keep increasing from Mpumalanga to North West. As you travel in the opposite direction from Botswana towards Pretoria then their prices decreases. Unfortunatley you started the free way from Botswana which technically the last toll gate on the N4 from Mpumalanga Province to Botswana is located. To avoid the toll roads, you should have opted to go to Kimberly in the Northen Cape Province and drove down to the Western Cape Province from there. I was looking forward to see you as you pass my home town Rustenburg, the town you passed before you crossed the second cheap toll gate.
@ 6:30 min, if you say 72km's to PTA thats around the BRITS area so most of the mines there are Platinum mines. There's a platinum belt from Rusternburg to Brits town
Eldoret town in Kenya was also founded by part of the Voortrekker who went to east Africa. Ndururumo High school in Nyahururu was started as Jan Von Riebeck Schöle and used the Transvaal education cariculum. The De Klerk family ran the Reformed Church in East Africa. There is a place in Johannesburg with very Kenyan street names, which tell the story of the land owners in East Africa.
I will read more about this history...it's quite interesting to learn that some settlers who settled in SA also settled in Kenya. This is because usually SA is bullied by Kenyans on social media and they make it seem as if it's the only country which was colonised, hence the development...despite the work done by the current government in terms of development.
@@TheMandela21 interesting to learn about this history. I will definitely read more about it...SA is always made to feel bad about the fact that we are the youngest to get democracy. South Africa is a leading economy in Africa hence the rand domination to most african currencies, it has the best infrastructure including transportation and roads hence the toll fees are higher, but that is predominantly due exchange rate between the rand and African currencies. But if you compare against the US dollar the rand is very weak making travelling S.A by overseas very affordable.

Afrikaners came from Netherlands and Afrikaans is somehow like Dutch they colonised SA and Namibia after the German and Brittish left, imagine being colonised twice
In Afrikaans language, the letter "F" is written as "V". So Voortrekker is actually Foortreker. Voor = forward, trek = long distance move. White Dutch left Cape Colony because they were protesting against British rule. The term "Voortrekker" emanate from that movement.
Great video Liv and company. I love your videos. I noted some unhappy drivers overtaking you on the left in a dual carriage way. My guess is that in South Africa, just like in the UK, the driving rule is, you must keep left at all times unless you are overtaking so that faster vehicles shouldn't overtake you on the left side. I note Kenyan drivers, including lorries, driving on the fast lane on Thika Highway. Please keep left unless you are overtaking and drive safely.

The highway you traveled on from Botswana is N4, and it link Botswana with Mozambique. On your right hand side there was the Moutain range that stretch from Rustenbug, it is canceled Magaliesberg. I stay on the foot of the mountain in Pretoria North. Brooklyn is in Pretoria East. Thank you for video.
Finally!!!! Been so busy didn't get a chance to watch
I hope you enjoyed it
jerome thanks for my kitalean siz. you were the bomb
I love the adventures in this channel keep on pushing.much lov guys❤
Thank you so much 😊
❤❤
Thank u for the trip, I am mourning with u guys and having lots of fun
Eeish I am loving it here, South Africa is so cool ❤️❤️
I'm speechless!
Looking forward to seeing which areas you explored in my hometown Pretoria , I really hope you had a great time
I did! It’s a great city.Stay tuned more coming
I've realised if Kenya maintains the momentum it has in building and Construction, Kenya and Nairobi in the next 5 yrs is going to be the most modern city in Africa.
Not with the corrupt and jokers we have as leaders
First of all congratulations guys for achieving that milestone. We thank God we have arrived safe🙏🏾.
I can't wait to go to Pretoria City🥳🥳
Thank you Kennedy
Great content, I followed you on the Lake Victoria circuit trip and I am still with you. My Geographical curiosity is fully satisfied 🎉and I am now reliving the history of the Great Trek, the Anglo- Boer wars and establishment of Orange Free State and Tras-Vaaal where your trip has reached so far. Thanks for injecting life into the trip
Thank you so much for always supporting glad you enjoying the series🙏🏾
So the guide is speaking khoi khowab a Namibian language
Afrikaners came from Netherlands and Afrikaans is somehow like Dutch they colonised SA and Namibia after the German and Brittish left, imagine being colonised twice
I like going places. Your journey was very interesting to me
In Afrikaans language, the letter "F" is written as "V". So Voortrekker is actually Foortreker. Voor = forward, trek = long distance move. White Dutch left Cape Colony because they were protesting against British rule. The term "Voortrekker" emanate from that movement.
Watching this video and it's giving me inspiration of traveling the world
Welcome in my home guys... I have just been following without commenting or liking🇿🇦🇿🇦. Loving your content
Thank you 🙏🏾 Noted
I'm in love with the channel and how authentic you guys are. I'd love to travel all of South Africa so beautiful cuntry
75 km outside Pretoria, you were passing by Brits or Mooi Nooi, it’s a mining area, chrome and platinum I think. Those fires are a smelter plant
I couldn’t wait for your reaction when you arrived here. lol and I must say it surpassed my expectation 😂😂😂
Thank you TumeloRm South Africa is way too beautiful
that was a cute lightening 7:27
That moments, I will never forget and share forever. Winning the 4th Rugby World Cup. Pretoria is also known as Tshwane
Thanks for giving me a tour of southern africa
