Thank you for talking about this. I’ve recently inherited a family home with a claw foot tub. I set up a shower head that looks similar to this one and had a similar issue to you. There’s water leaking profusely from multiple spots. I’ve been stressing about it because I can’t figure out what to do. I’ve added Teflon tape to the initial problem area but now other spots have started leaking. We had new pipes installed and even that’s leaking. I hate that I’m gonna have to send another plumber out. But I’m glad I’m not the only one to experience this. I was like claw foot rub and a modern shower head is stupid, turning the water on from the shut off valves is stupid, and so on.
I found a replica telephone faucet with a shower riser. I had to use swing arms to get it to fit my particular claw foot tub. Worked great until everything froze (remote Alaska -36*). Which shot the faucet off.
Moral of the story... when your wife says “I want a claw foot tub!” No, comes to mind. And I mean it. We have a cast iron tub from 75’ my wife wanted to keep and that was bad enough.
You just wait till one of those legs kicks out while your enjoying your bath! My wife is still terrified years later. The tube broke in half. Water spay ing everywhere!.

Amazon has several faucets w shower for clawfoot tubs. I got mine for about $60
God you basically described my exact bathroom problem, I want to drop the clawfoot down the nearest cliff!
