- I'm adding this so that maybe some repeat questions will stop:
You MUST pick Zelos in Flanoir.
You MUST be playing the PS2 version of the game.
This version is Japanese only.
This is in English because I subbed it. I didn't change what they were saying, it's a translation.

I think we were too picky about sub placement this time since what we were trying to do is almost impossible given the programs that we're working with. And we know that you can see the Japanese through the subs. That's the best we can get it. :P
I know her name should be Shihna in Japanese version, but I just left it as Sheena just to annoy anyone that actually cared! Bwahahaha!
And no, "miko" doesn't mean "shrine maiden" in this context...

You can only get this scene if you get Zelos as your highest affection character (pick him in Flanoir). Just for your information, if you pick Sheena in Flanoir, you get a scene of Lloyd and Sheena going on a date instead. But I don't have that scene. Probably won't ever get that scene either unless I happen to have a lot of free time on my hands some day...
"pair look" (pearukku, what Sheena says in this clip) is when a couple wears a matching outfit so that everyone that sees them will know they are together. In the Japanese PS2 version of the game you can get matching outfits for Lloyd and Colette, Zelos and Sheena, and Genius and Presea. (Genius is not a typo, that was his name in Japanese...)
I saw people wearing "pearukku" quite often in Japan. Some people think it's cute. Some people are like "Look at those dorks over there wearing matching clothes! Haha!"

I figured that Zelos knows Sheena has a crush on Lloyd, so he'd like them together so she would be happy.
You guys gotta realize that in the game sheena does develop feelings for lloyd and dat lloyd is so dam naruto-ish to it, that it would take you as the the player, or sheena, to force him to realize it through acts of pure bluntness(sheena) or controll(player)
I really hope Nintendo releases this version of Symphonia on their Virtual Console! I think you did great on the Subbing!

The costume was an added feature. It wasn't there in the original version of the game so lots of people didn't get it.

if you saw the end of the video both Sheena and Zelos got titles. you equip the titles and there's the costume! of course there are certain titles that change your costume
It's not really retconned since it wasn't ever used. It was in the pre-game design phase. And yes, I'm referring to that card. I saw it once on the net, but I don't have it now. The cards aren't canon, they just show initial planning. An idea that was thought up and dropped.

I've been actually wondering for some time what was true, since I see and hear so many different things like "Oh, Sheena and Lloyd are canon, just watch their ending!" and the like.

They added more than that one scene. I've uploaded some of the other scenes here too. I never got around to uploading the rest because I will have to beat the game again with each character as Lloyd's favorite to get them and that's too much effort for me, especially since some scenes are just the same scene with a different outcome.
I mean, I remember the 4 guys, just not the rest, here's why:
I just read the scene from the fanfiction adaptation. The part that starts like this: "As soon as her eyes closed and her breath evened..." ?
It is an adaptation. A translation and fanfic combined into one. All the parts in quotes are the real dialogue in the CD. So if you just listen to the tracks, without reading her adaptation you hear:
"Mmh. Good night, Zelos..."
*rain falling sounds*
"Even now... ain't stopping."
*cont*
Plus, as of the time of those comments. The final product of the ToS time line was RRT. So as of the time it was written, it was correct since every other release involving ToS used Colette path. Ratatosk has changed things since then by opening all paths again as equal choices. (But only female choices are romantic.) That doesn't change the fact that all other Namco products used Colette path.
I think they were talking about ToS2, but the release date is Spring 2008, so we don't really know for sure. And that's the release for the Japanese version only. The English release will be later. I will probably be posting clips here on TH-cam if I get it in Japanese.
Man this game is sooo fun, if it's coming out for PS2 I'm deffinitely buying it again!
(For example, this scene is the one you get for picking Zelos, if I want the alternate version of this scene I have to restart from the beginning and pick Sheena in Flanoir.)

The idea of Zelos and Sheena dating before the game was from a promo card set that came out before the game. It's not mentioned in either of the games.
RRT is strictly from Sheena's POV. We *NEVER* hear what Zelos is thinking once. Maybe he was singing the Meow Mix song in his head during that scene, we'll never really know.
The author translated all the dialogue. And she added elements of description. What she thinks was happening in scenes. She described the room they were in. We don't know that it looked like that. Maybe if you listen you can hear walking around and the floor makes a wooden squeak sound, but that's as much as you can tell.
And even Zelos tries to give a hint to Lloyd....
But it just goes to show.... unless you force it, Lloyd will not have feelings for Sheena. He doesn't realize it, because his attention goes to Colette.
"Rodeo Ride Tour," a drama CD. Drama CDs tell what happened to the characters and the new world after the end of the game. There were 5 made for ToS. First they made 3 with stories featuring each character. Then RRT was a set of 2 CDs from Sheena's POV featuring Zelos and Sheena going on a trip together. I posted one track from it on youtube already.
Yes, it's a sub of the Japanese version of the game. This scene is only in the Japanese PS2 version.
TT-TT ZELOS WAS SOOOOOO JEALOUS. AND...and....she has this tiny crush on Lloyd...and its all messed up. But deep down, Sheena must have more than a crush for Zelos. Their relationship is so complicated but I think Sheena has strong feelings for his that she has no choice but to deny to herself.
Yeah, and Colette had a crush on Lloyd when Emil and Marta asked her. That scene was showing her crush way more than the Sheena->Lloyd scenes did.

As another random tidbit of info: Ratatosk no Kishi wasn't made by Team Symphonia. I'm not saying it's not canon. It is. But it's another Tales Team's interpretation of the characters.
@MisterHeroman Leaving -sama was just a translation style I chose to leave the Japanese flavor for those who understand. Miko was "Chosen" in the English version of the game. "Miko" means "Holy Child." "Rare Birds" I think were called "Rheards" or something in English version. Why didn't I change those to the English version names? Because quite simply I hope someone can learn something about original version through the words I chose to leave in Japanese form.
Everyone has one new costume. If you want to do it faster, get Zelos and Genis's. Getting Zelos's gives you Sheena's automatically and Genis's gives you Presea's. PS2 version is slower.
So, within the main game all 8 paths are possible, but only 7 allowable in Ratatosk because it would have been too much effort to make alternate scenes for every time it shows Zelos. And in Ratatosk, it's obvious that ALL female paths result in a pairing (even Presea and Raine), and all male paths result in best friends. So it's a split world, 8 paths, Colette most likely, Kratos least likely.
Namco's extra releases are undeniably LloydxColette. And several very highly imply ZelosxSheena.

(somehow this didn't post, but the 2nd part did) I think the problem is I was trying to be too literal then, rather than go for most natural English. ^^; He means picked him over Lloyd, as in she had a choice, just this moment, and ended up with Zelos just by not turning him down. Zelos assumed she would turn him down and go with Lloyd. This "first" is like "best," "winner," or "1st place." Not like "first time." She had a choice (whether she was aware of it or not) and ended up with Zelos.
This scene is only available in the Japanese version for Play Station 2.
Well, this is the JP remake of the game, sort of. The JP Game Cube version is the same as the English version. For the JP PS2 release, they added new features so the people that already had the GC version would buy it again. :P

Yeah, he tries to hook her up with Lloyd. I think because Zelos likes Sheena, and he knows that she likes Lloyd, so he'd like her to be with Lloyd because that would make her happy. It happens in RRT, too. When they were at Lloyd's house, Zelos got mad and left, but Sheena chased after him. So in the end, she chose Zelos over Lloyd. XD
It would depend on how the break up went... But like I said, it wasn't ever mentioned in the game so the idea was canned.
I'm going to go check the script because I don't remember that...

Yes, you are correct. LloydxColette has the most secondary releases showing it. But LloydxSheena, LloydxRefill, LloydxPresea are all equal with the release of Ratatosk.

@MisterHeroman (cont...) If I was doing this professionally through the game company I would have used the English terminology and translated it differently. I also would have translated odd phrases more loosely like they do in all these games. My hope is that fans can learn some things about the original version through this style of translation. I hope that makes sense.
Technically, Lloyd can pick anyone. If Lloyd can pick anyone, there is no canon pairing.
However, all outside of game Namco released materials feature LloydxColette, undeniably, as a couple. Which would make that the MOST LIKELY path that Lloyd would follow. Plus the intro to the game shows LloydxColette. And in Ratatosk it's very obvious Colette has a crush on Lloyd, whether you pick her or not in the new Flanoir scene. The scenes talking about how she feels about Lloyd are NOT optional. cont.
I know that. In fact you can make Lloyd go for any of the girls. I'm just saying that by default, if you don't do anything special to make Lloyd go for Sheena, he pays much more attention to Colette and is very oblivious to Sheena's little crush. And this scene is one that you can only get AFTER Lloyd has talked to someone in flanoir (I got this info from the person who posted this) and that person had to be Zelos, I think.

Have you ever listened to Rodeo Ride Tour? I'm thinking about posting it. It's one of the offical drama CDs for ToS. It's Sheelos and Colloyd. So Namco supports those pairings apparently. ^^
After looking at it again, I guess it could be interpreted as they dated pre-game, in another context.
But she replied with denying she likes Lloyd, so Sheena thinks that's what he's referring to, as well.

Yeah 巫女 is a shrine maiden. 神子 (God Child / Holy Child) is the kanji used in the game. It can also mean shrine maiden though. 御子 (Honorable Child) is another spelling.

No. In this scene - which occurs if Lloyd doesn't go out with Sheena in Flanoir - Sheena likes Lloyd and Zelos knows it but Lloyd, being the dumbass that he is, doesn't. The problem is that Zelos kinda likes Sheena but also believes that Sheena (in his mind) shouldn't like him and probably never will anyway.
If Lloyd goes out with Sheena in Flanoir, he actually cheers her up himself in this scene.
Yeah, it has to be Zelos. Lloyd likes Zelos, so he wants him to be happy, so he wants him to be with Sheena. It makes sense. In the alternate version of this skit, Zelos gets Lloyd to go on the date with Sheena. That happens if you pick Sheena. Picking Sheena results in Zelos not getting a costume.
I haven't actually seen that version of the scene, but if I ever play ToS again, I'll try for it.
They used new writers, maybe a few old ones, but many new ones. Different teams will interpret the characters different ways. The creator of the characters intended for Zelos and Sheena to be introduced as former lovers as that was in pre-game materials. The voice actors of the characters like Colloyd/Sheelos. The CDs were the same person Namco used to write all the CDs for all their games, and the Gumis, and the anime for ToS.

Not necessarily.... and this is actually IN GAME (well... in the Japanese-only PS2 ToS game..) so that means, yes, this scene actually happened and for some reason, DID agree to that! (She and Zelos have an awkward, rocky, friendship.... besides, if she doesn't hit him for something like this, that means she really had something bothering her XP)

The words that appear in the corner are NOT translations. Read it again: NOT TRANSLATIONS. Those are terms that changed from Japanese to English version. "Rare Birds" were called "Rheards" in the English version. So the text you see in the blue bubbles is the translation and the text in the corners is the word that was used in the English version of the game.

It always shows Sheena as having a crush on Lloyd like this. But in the end, she ends up with Zelos. Like in this clip, Sheena has matching clothes with Zelos, not Lloyd. You should listen to Rodeo Ride Tour. ^^ She has a crush on Lloyd there too, but in th end it's Zelos she's with.

Why do you dislike them? I just ignore the pairings I don't like. If you prefer Shelloyd, that's fine, but why not just ignore the others?
Anyway... She couldn't post script only because it would have been both very boring and in violation of the fanfictionDOTnet's rules. She went through a great effort to make that fic, and she did a great job, but only the quoted parts are from the CD. Anything Zelos is thinking is purely her ideas. We never hear his thoughts once.

Yeah, it pretty obvious in both version. XD Just the Japanese one used a little more obvious terminology sometimes. I thought it was neat that both Zelos and Collet make the Sign of the Cross when charging their spells.

Yes, because they can't get over it and will find anything to prove they are absolutely right so that their two favorite characters can screw each other senseless in fanfics without it being considered the "alt path" even though it is. Yes, that is the perfect reason to go around bugging people and to find ways to explain away things that wouldn't have been questioned otherwise. Because everything needs to be analyzed 100%! I've already said they aren't canon. Is that not enough? That doesn't mean one path isn't more likely than the others. And I agree there isn't enough to imply it outside of ToS and RnK. CDs and some other Namco games implied it. Which is why I mentioned it was *side releases* that implied it.

Thank you Ptilol. I watched this video ages ago but no youtube account. Now that I have one, I can thank you properly. I just want to ask a quick question. One of the translations is "You're a big idiot to choose me first of all people. You're dull when it comes to love". The first time I watched this video, I thought he was implying that he and Sheena dated pre-game. But when I rewatched, it could mean a lot of other things. Since you listen/read the Japanese version, how do you interpet this?
Man, I reeeeally wish I had the PS2 version!! And I love how Sheena and Zelos have matching costumes, they look cool! So, is Rodeo Ride Tour only in Japanese, or did they dub it? Cuz I really want to get it!!

If ya look at the booklet, the Japanese version, it does say they did go out before but something got in the way and they split up.... Kinda sad really, he sticks around and she pushes him away yet at the same time they still have a kind of odd deep friendship there.... :/

Sheena being a virgin doesn't mean she's never had a boyfriend. I listened to RRT, what point are you talking about where he is shocked she likes him? I don't even remember her ever acting like she likes him "that way" in RRT. At the end of RRT, they were "friends maybe more."
And I said that was pre-game materials. The idea was dropped later. But if they *were* former bf/gf and they broke up, to me it looks like he would still be shocked. But the idea wasn't used.
Several escort titles have Zelos with Sheena, though you can still argue that they aren't dating, so technically not a couple. But why would they bother making Rodeo Ride Tour, the couple outfits (Regal&Raine didn't match), and side games showing them together a lot. One scene shows Loni and Zelos talking about girls, then Nanaly and Sheena come and drag them away. One matching card game makes you match the Zelos card to Sheena card. If they weren't trying to imply anything, why do that?

WHAT?! Nintendo is missing out on a Gold Mine. Not everyone can find Game Cube games. I had to buy Twilight Princess USED!!! At FULL price! I guess that means that N64 games are out also.

I put English translation over the Japanese words which is why you can see the Japanese words behind the English words! What the hell is your point? You want to see the original? I posted that too. Oh yeah... you can download Nintendo games from NES till N64. So you can still download N64 games. But you must buy Gamecube games.
