    Really Useful Video.. I do not remember now why we need SRL in DG but all my colleagues were telling me that SRL is required. I used to tell them that I worked on DG without SRL a decade ago but they were not believing it. This Video helped me to recollect the old concepts.

    Hi, Nice video 👍 i have two queries :
    1) how to avoid archive deletion from primary if not applied on standby db.
    2) If we have EE license do we need to have separate license to use ADG feature?
    Thanks
    MS

      Thanks for your questions and Comments MS.
      1. You can set RMAN deletion Policy to applied on Standby. so that the archives will not get deleted until it applied on Standby. If you have enough storage, you can set your purge script to keep 1 day archives.
      2. As per Oracle, If your Standby database having Real time query (or) Incremental fast backups enabled, then we need to procure ADG License.

      Thanks and Keep Asking More...

      Tekdba thanks for your update! Does this mean even we have enterprise edition license if we use adg we need to have separate license

    • @Tekdba
      @Tekdba  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@15mukku Yes. Because mostly we use ADG for Reporting query offloading (or) Backups.

    HI, Here i could not understand the point, how the data loss will occur. Even though the primary database got crashed, oracle has roll forward method right to apply all the committed data to data files? Thank yoou

      Hi Nagaraju, Thanks for your Comment. In the traditional method, the change applied to Standby database only through Archivelogs being shipped. Consider I have standby database applied until SCN 10000. There are some transactions in Primary, which are commited and updated on Primary Datafiles (SCN 10050). The Delta of 50 transactions gets applied on standby only when the archivelog from primary gets shipped and applied. Just in case if there is a crash of primary and all files including ONline Log Files are inaccessible, then we will lose the delta transaction.
