Tibetan Dance: Phebshok Phebshok ( Jangthang Kordo)

Tibetan Dance has its unique movements and styles and Each region of Tibet has its own expression of dance movements. The idea of Dance is culturally not conceived as something to showcase to an audience, but rather an artistic expression of movements that is passed down from generations. Tibetans danced in circles mostly and movements has certain nuances that require keen observation. The dancers pay keen interest in the swiftness of the foot work and this a shared trend in dances across Tibet. Today Tibetan Dance is losing its essence given the lack of understanding of its authenticity. Many follow the popular contemporary dance incorporated in Tibetan Dance and do not understand Tibetan dance has its own movement and style. I hope to bring traditional Tibetan Dance Movements, styles, and its pulse back to the community.

Hi! I love this song, and I came across your video. Your effort to preserve the traditional meaning behind the movements deserves praise! If you have the time, could you perhaps do a video of "the correct way to perform" the most common motives in gorshay and most importantly, the meaning of these movements (or what activity they are supposed to portray)? Acha la thank you for posting videos of Tibetan dance tutorial. Being a young Tibetan American I feel that the young generation is losing their traditions and culture. These videos are very helpful to learn Tibetan dance. I respectfully request if you could make videos on the basics as well like the feet movements for gorshey and how to move hands etc. I have never danced shapto ever and I want to learn so I can dance when I go to Tibetan Gatherings at the Chikang with everyone!
