I just learned about these pedals and have a watched a few other videos and was leaning towards the 009 but hearing it side by side has sealed the deal. Thank you gentlemen very much.
I have the 008 and 009. Both pedals sound amazing and its one of the best pedals I ever owned. The high gain Chanel just have a sweet spot unlike any other drive or distortion pedal I’ve ever played on. These are game changers.

I just picked up the Mooer Preamp Live which has (more or less) all of the Micro Preamp pedals built into it and I have to agree that the Engl Blackmore is outstanding.
how have you found the preamp live? I'm thinking of getting one with a power amp to replace my 5150 cos its way to heavy and need a smaller rig for travelling hahaha

Richard Beardsley I thought exactly the same. When Moore announced these I was planning to buy the 5150 but when I heard the Blacknight, that was it. I bought it right away and I'm really satisfied

I went back and forth between the amp and the blackmore pedal several times, its bloody close, really good comparison
Great video! That cab sim on the Blacknight sounded pretty decent. It would be nice to hear more (mooer) of the all the preamps, crunch/clean and cab sim.

The pedal was really close. enough to say they got it pretty right. yes a tad bit brighter with the amp then the pedal. awesome pedals and awesome video.
great demo!! you should also try using the blackmore with another power amp from other tube amp and a power amp from a solid state! (most of us would only have a solid state amp anyway)
I built my own baby bomb using an $8 Mini TPA3118 Amplifier Board and 2 jacks. It drives my 2x12 cab and sounds amazing. I use a boss combo drive as a preamp.

Great sounds from tiny pedals. HoTone also do amazing sounds from tiny devices. Nice video. If I did not have my Fractal stuff I would consider one of these. Would like to hear their AC 30 Vox pedal.

Hi! That's a stock Sterling String Ray - not sure what the stock pickups are but they work!
Are these knobs really in the "middle"? Seem to me that the middle position of the knobs is sideways, parallel with the letters. If that's the case, then you're setting them not at 50% initially, but to 25% value... Can anyone confirm this? I never played in one of those before.
they're not as you say, up facing the power supply is 50%
Hey Guys,
a great review, but you guys maxed out Gain way too much on most of the models. By backing off Gain to a bit past 12, you really achieve a more open sounding thing. You can get the idea at the most when Sam backed off the Gain on the ENGL thing.
And also the EVH massively improves soundwise by backing off the gain to 1 o'clock or 2 o'clock. It's a really fantastic pedal, and worth a try, especially for people who have a rather non High-Gain Amp :-)

To me it sounds like they are really good for their price.
I also think that in a live situation, almost no one can hear the difference.
Also if you actually want the sounds of 5-6 amps, but can't afford 5-6 amps...

Complete side note takeaway from this video but I think I just worked out that my egnater armageddon is basically a clone of a diezel amp by hearing this tone. Looks like a herbert too 😅
Just heard the ENGL for the first time yesterday, but could be the best one, next to the JCM900
The 009 is absolutely great. I went on whim and ordered it online. One of the most fun pedals to get some high gain with.

The 001 only sounds good when turned down at low volumes...
The amp definitely sounds more "real" and dynamic, but that pedal is pretty damn close
UK has one of the nicest marshal sounds ice ever heard with the big chords. I'm not even a marshal guy to be fair
Awesome review 🔥🔥 I fell in love with these pedals, and i plan on getting the 001 diesel or the 009 blacknight. I wanted to ask you, if your amp doesn't have a fx loop can you run it threw the front of the amp? The only thing I hear wrong is the volume when running it threw the front.
You can run it through the front of the amp, just realize the preamp section of the amp will color the tone. If your amp doesn't have an fx loop I'd suggest looking at a cheap class d amp like the mooer baby bomb...
This is the first demo where the fifty fifty sounds bad.

Great demo, the tones were super convincing awesome pedals. Just incase you werent aware the Fifty Fifty 3 is based on the newer Fender made EVH 5150 III which to my ears doesnt sound like the classic 5150 and 6505 that people use for heavier metal, still was the most disappointing pedal
I had to use tweezers to turn the knobs. Me amp goes to eleven.
8:52, 9:05 and 9:40 get some pretty decent AC/DC tones. Reminds me of something like Shake Your Foundations/Fly On The Wall. 10:37 sounds like you could get some good Anthrax-Among The Living tones.
Do you plug these pedals into the front of the amp? I’m still learning the differences between through the front of the amp and the effects loop etc

For real, I got next to nothing out of watching this video because I’m going to try to set it up to sound good instead of the color by numbers scooped sound that the dude who looks like a skunk uses.
I will say, there are probably a lot of people who do get something out of this…because there’s an innumerable amount of attention starved dudes (…why else have that stupid haircut…) who all play that trite, done to death thing that hasn’t been novel in 20 years.
Mids are your friend guy with the hat! Without them you've got no tone . Thin city!
bullshit city. tell that to john petrucci and metallica. it can all work, otherwise we would have never picked up the "term" scooped mids. scooped mids made metallica milions and thin tone???,ever heard the black album by metallica???. you can scoop al you want, as long as your mic is the right place to pickup mids and not loose them.

Congrats on the video, great! Does this pedal get too hot? I ask because I bought one mooer 005 recently and I notice that the temperature rises a lot, getting very hot.
Im experiencing something similar too. Its getting hot as it is in use.

nice video ! "Quick" question, i'd like to replace my tube amp in rehearsals with two Mooer pedals (for the vox cleans and the mesa gain channel) is there a possibility to just change from on to another with one tap only? I am very inexperienced with pedals since i have always played only amp+wah and thats it and that channel toggle doesn't look like i could use that in the middle of a song. Also how do they react to a tubescreamer? I have bought one recently and i like it as a boost with low gain and high volume settings.
Hey! You could use something like a BOSS LS-2 for this (put each pedal in its own loop and then use the LS2 to switch between the loops). I think that may be the simplest way to do it. Also, the Tube Screamer worked just as you'd expect it!
Why do you have the volume cranked on all of the pedals?
Hi Steven, we cranked the volume to match the level of the preamp in the amp so we could get a consistent level from all of the pedals.
tried a 5050 one in my Marshall DSL5c combo returns input and nothin but a loud hissing, tried it conventional way in front of amp it worked better but still a very loud hissing.
I need a sound for Djent or Metal core. So which one that i should buy between 005 and 001??
Hey! You could get that from either really. But I would possibly temp at the 005 for the extra presence.

The Gas Station based on the Diezel is probably the only pedal ive ever owned that could possibly have too much gain. I think its the best for metal. Second is the uk gold 200 as the jcm 900, then the dual rectifier model, cali dual, then the phoenix. Those are the best that i own out of about 7 of em.You kill my ears when you crank the mids all the way up. I think they all sound better scooped.I always scoop the mids all the way out and turn up the bass,treble, and gain.
