If any of those newspapers carried a story about Stonewall, it would have been a filler or 'news of the weird'. I only found out about it because I was in college and found the story in the Village Voice at the college library. I don't think that most of the country really found out about it until the student groups at colleges started having Stonewall anniversary events.
They (Marsha and Sylvia) were on the front lines fighting the police in defense of us, and we didn't accept them. We were afraid they would complicate our call for justice/equality because the straight community was opposed to who they were.....this is our history and we should learn from it. I grew up well with bio parents yet with growing pains like everyone....In my life I have met some really accomplished as well as regular people who were adopted, so I think people should just be grateful that they met up with parents who wanted them and were in the position to care for them. I have also met people who grew up with abusive biological parents. Melodramas are just a waste of time. Always move on and pay it forward. Reliving difficult circumstances is futile. The past is done, the future unknown...all we have is the moment of now...🤓
