How we did it growing up was you have a wooden stake. Basically a stick that you would use for doing surveying. You Hammer that into the ground and then take flat or curved piece of metal and rub over the top of the stake. The vibrations from running the metal over the wood makes the worms come up to the top of the surface. I've been told that it's the same principle as when it rains and worms come up to the surface. I grew up in North Florida and this was a common occurrence for getting bait for fishing. My dad would do this also in the Apalachicola national Forest and get thousands of worms and take them to bait sellers to make beer money. 😂
oh yeah I bet it drives them nuts or irritates the crap out of them, like a dog whistle or scratching a chalk board. They want to get out of the ground as soon as possible.

Great to see Abby Back!
This is amazing... Gonna try it!
BRING BACK ABBY CASEY
Abby, I love you so much!
Can I please, somehow get your autograph?
vibrations bring them up
I have always just shocked then out of the ground
This girl is really cute. She makes my worm come to the surface 😂😂
Worms don’t hate the sound, they react to the vibrations. Lay a speaker on the ground and blast death metal and you’ll get the same thing.
I've been looking for such a video but seems nobody is mad as us
I was taught to rub a brick on a stick in the ground
How about catching fish with worm grunting.
A dull handsaw will do the same thing in a stump
Tes yeux, j’en rêve jour et nuit... Je suis tombé sous ton charme... Veux-tu me rendre l'homme le plus heureux du monde ?

Mike Rowe did a segment about this on Dirty Jobs.
