A fine and detailed overview of taking apart this brand of press. I look forward to the cleaning procedure. I do not own a Dillon press but the care you show is useful in taking apart any progressive press.
@@Michigan4Conservative Hi, Michigan! Thanks for tuning in. The old 550B is a fine press and can last a long time with a little maintenance now and then! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@@viejo2a The knowing how things are attached and how to take the parts off without damage is a very key thing. You did a great job of showing and explaining. Thanks!
Walter, having two presses is a huge advantage. the priming system on the 550 is one of the best as far as reliability, however, it takes time to change out. as far as the roller handle, I found that it really doesn't have an advantage (To Me), you have to take your hand off the handle every time you feed a case in the shell plate, then after you place the case, reach up and grab the handle. the only way around it is to get some sort of auto feeding thing mounted. again, more down time changing things out when changing calibers. as consumers,, we really have to watch out because of marketing and the whole Faster, Stronger,, better than it was before thing. There are fishing lures that are designed to catch fishermen, Not fish. (The 550 goes fast enough to make safe reliable ammo as is) Good project, I'm enjoying the content. peace, - Dave
@@thorsaxe5881 hi, Dave. Thanks as always for your support. For me, the roller handles offer Ann ergonomic benefit for my arthritic hands by spreading the force across a wider portion of my palm. Over a longer loading session, I find that I suffer less strain on the metacarpal bones and joints, as well as less ‘rubbing’ on my thinning skin. So for me, it’s not just falling into hype. I hope your shoulder is doing better and that you will be able to get back to some shooting soon! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@@curtislong1987 thanks, Curtis. I’m unsure if I’ll keep it. On the one hand, I don’t have a ton on loot into it and it would be nice to have a second one to do large primer and the other for small. But..there’s always something else on the horizon and I’m running out room ☺️🔫🇺🇸
