Kevin Rider - Just made one - best way to drill plates quickly without cracking is put drill speed on 1 and run pilot bit and hole saw backwards full speed from the back of the plate onto a wood block cut to fit inside plate - cuts/melts at the same time leaving a clean edge within a few seconds. Wished I had figured out sooner - would have saved a lot of time trying not to crack plates.

Any chance you could find the link to those small icicle lights?

Ingenious my friend. Making some space videos and looking at props. Like the Power Pylon. Bought some blue icicles for my own space video. Drawing some different ideas. Thanks for sharing. Love the different ideas you come up with. I used to work for Disney and many of the studios in Hollywood as a prop maker in the 80's and 90's. Made some great props and worked on many movies. Shame CGI is making virtual props for movies these days. When the shoot is over no props to take home anymore...

Fantastic. I've been working on build a Tardis console and trying to figure out how to make the time rotor. With a combination of this and your power converter build I think I can put something together. Thank you.

Sweet. Had an inspiration last evening to take a really nice Frankenstein mask I own and use it to build a Frankenstein Mad Scientist lab display for my yard/home display this year. Two of these would be added to the display would be perfect. Thanks for sharing!

Use blue painters tape over the spot where you are going to drill and the plate won't shatter. Nice tutorial. :)

My set of lights came in a set of 8....would the lights still work the same way if I cut off 6 of them and only use 2 for my prop.

I'm here because the Weird Kid built mad science props, and I need them, so...the cheaper and easier to build , the better.

maybe try laser cutting the holes in each plate.

Great stuff! Where did you get the brick backdrop?

It was actually just a cheap 4' x 8' brown hardboard panel from Home Depot that I painted.
