Unscripted, in-depth deck profile and tournament report! I'll try keep em separated for future. A couple key notes that didn't make the video: - The 2022 Wichita, KS regional had 133 players and played 8 Swiss Rounds - This whole Main Deck and Extra Deck is under $100 altogether - I decided to main deck Called By due to both Dimension Shifter and Tearlament/Ishizu being so common Thanks for watching again!
@@NeostormXLMAX Pure Virtual World cannot play dimension shifter comfortably. You can't really do anything under shifter since the VW hand effects won't summon. The best you can put up is like a live Chuche if you have the right hand (or one extra deck monster with a bunch of e teles) going first. There's really no matchup that it hurts more than it hurts you. Even vs Tear they can put up a Rank 4 through shifter and then you can't play enough under your own shifter. It's just not good enough and is an added dead card mid game.
Dang good luck! That'll be tough but wild if you top with it in 2023! I'm hoping to make a YCS/Nats next year too if they have good locations. Is it going to be a team of all VW or are you the only one?

A really cool decklist ! Thank you for your analysis. I search for a decklist of VW lately. I think the deck has a strange match-up against tear. He can't automatically win against but i don't think he will lose. Shenshen, Chuche, Wollow can't win by themselves. But they clearly incapacitate tear at certain points (Shenshen vs Kitkallos, Wollow vs every name in GY, Chuche vs Perlereino,...) It's cleary a skillful match-up. Do you think Jaja and Photon strike bounzer are good choices for the extra deck ? In this format, i prefer Jaja over break sword because he can out permanently the names like kaleido-heart. And strike bounzer is, overall, a good negate who can play during the time. Congratulation for your result !
Thank you! Personally, I don't see Photon Strike Bounzer being good enough. He's only a negate on field and he's very easy to play around in time. There are multiple other Rank 6s I'd rather play before him. Jaja is definitely not bad, but it's usually dependent on activating its effect in order to crash for a Zeus which isn't great when your opponent has a negate up. Break Sword is way better to out floodgates and can sometimes help you play by popping your own Qinglong. Jaja's only real advantage is being an Earth Wyrm and being a Virtual World name to target, which doesn't really matter in this build since if I can make it I already have a name. I've definitely not ruled Jaja out but I feel like even Longlong would come before Jaja due to higher attack and more relevant effect. Overall I think either way the Tear matchup is heavily against Virtual World. Milling the wrong things can ruin your strategy and them playing on your turn is near impossible to counter since we don't make monster/omni negates early on. VW also can't play the hard counters like Shifter/Macro Cosmos because it hurts them too. Overall I think the cards you mentioned are viable but they're not my first picks. I may consider another VW name like Jaja for the banish effect eventually though.
This is why I like Yugioh, you could be playing Kuriboh Spam and still top 50. This is not a diss to the TH-camr or his deck nor am I being sarcastic, I literally think it's great that you get to play VW or any of your favorite decks and do good. Such a based deck.
Thanks! Generally agreed. Though, top 50 at this type of event (Tier 2 event with less than 200 people) isn't something to be too proud of. I wish Yu-Gi-Oh was more like "You can top 8 with a bad Deck if you play perfectly" but the reality right now is that it's not really like that. Hopefully, the power ceiling gets lowered soon. Virtual World is relatively popular yet has 0 YCS tops in the last year and almost no Tier 2 tops especially in the last two formats. Decks like Tearlaments are just too strong to where players that make multiple mistakes consistently beat me even if I don't make any mistakes. Still satisfied with 17th place though, especially knowing I was so close if I hadn't bricked that hard. And both of my losses were bricks vs people that made the Top 8. Either way though, I'm a big fan of playing your favorite Decks regardless of what the format looks like! I'll continue trying to adapt my favorite strategies like VW and Morphtronics for the meta and enjoy myself while hopefully doing well and inspiring others. Thanks for the support!
That's a good question! Personally, I think it's between Pure and Adventure. I don't rate P.U.NK too well anymore without Halqifibrax. It's too fragile to a Havnis, Nibiru, Veiler, etc. Adventure VW is probably a bit stronger and just as consistent as Pure but the worst possible hands are worse in Adventure than in Pure VW. I don't own Adventure VW and haven't tested it much this format to know for sure. I lean towards Pure just because it's more toolboxy/versatile even if it's a little weaker. In theory, I think Pure is a bit better vs Tear Ishizu because Adventure can't fit as many handtraps (they rely on Rite to serve as a going second card) + if they mill your Gryphon/Fateful/Dracoback the package becomes a lot worse. I also think Desires is near necessary for VW to keep up with the meta; often it's the only possible top deck that keeps you in a game. Overall I'd give it a tie to Adventure and Pure but I think Pure has a higher skill ceiling and is more customizable to your play style if you know the Deck well. If I had Baronne and the Adventure package I'd definitely play it more though and see what I lose to this format. It's super close.
I personally am not a fan since it fills up your extra Deck for really only one strong play and Scythe is a brick. It loses to an Imperm, Gamma, Crow, Called By, Skull Meister, Bystial, etc the list goes on and on. It also doesn't provide much needed follow-up that something like a Shenshen or M7 provides. I think it's strong and good but just not the best way to play any format so far. Now that Bystials exist, it may never be the best way to play. That being said, I think it's still up there if you need a budget option or if you want to try new cheesy stuff (Scythe is only one of the cards Pairen can summon)
I would use 2 Triple Tactics instead of Foolish Goods and Called By because Called by is mid rn due to being largely ineffective vs tearlamanet and floow + you buy a turn with handripping even after getting Shiftered. You can also Tactics after getting bounced by Kelbek in the hand, while Called by cannot interact with it. I would also use 3 Skull Meisters instead of DD crow and Ghost Ogre because it stops the shufflers.
I've definitely been considering Meister more recently, but I think I'd rather play Belle. It synergizes more with my engine (lvl 3 tuner) and is a little more versatile by preventing an opposing Called By, Crow, and Gamma. I actually had Belle in my side before I pulled the Bystials. Talents is definitely good and I have considered it, but it's not a suitable replacement for FBG. FBG is a going first (consistency) card meant to get me access to a Qinglong. Talents is dead if I can't even start my combo. I find that, most of the time, Talents is dead either way because my opponent doesn't use a monster effect or I have to discard my Talents before a monster eff is prompted. If I was cutting FBG, it'd be for another consistency card. Otherwise the Deck just becomes too bricky. Remember, my main losses were from bricks. For Called By, I consider it mandatory right now. It's usually at least a solid one for one trade going first or second vs Tear. It also hits Dimension Shifter, one of my biggest threats. I've considered cutting it, but I think it's better than Talents. It can be set as an interruption or protect me when I'm trying to play. Often for TTT, if I've let a monster effect resolve (like Nibiru/Havnis) I'm already in a losing position. Talents and Called By are good alongside each other though; but Talents just doesn't equal an interruption that the Deck desperately needs to have a strong end board.
@@ninezerotwo1778 I usually am hitting my opponent's monsters anyway with Bystials but yeah I get you. Belle is cool and more versatile+ synergetic but the banish is just stronger vs Tear Ishizu than a simple negate. If I had more room it's definitely up in the line.
@@ninezerotwo1778 Worst case scenario my extra Deck monsters that are dark/light will end up in grave and I can banish those. But this format, everyone plays a dark monster. Even vs Floo I can hit their shifter in GY for the free body.
Personally I think that playing 3x Fenrir is just too good for this deck. It can search itself which allows us to have better hand size for follow up turns due to nature of discarding for VW (Xuanwu, Qinglong). It also allows us to run Baronne de Fleur which went out of favor after Fairy Tail Snow ban. I would add fenrirs over the Bystial package because I find it a lot more consistent. That way we can reliably have Crystal Wing and any of these three consistently as our end board, which isn't that bad (Shenshen, Baronne, Wollow). Also I don't like running two rank 3 XYZ's - feels like wollow can successfully substitute one of these.
It's a little unconventional but the two Rank 3s come up a lot. I think I'm sticking with them for now. I've definitely considered playing different ones though. The Fenrir with Baronne sounds good in theory but I don't own them and don't plan on buying them so I haven't tested much. Too expensive lol. Either way, versus Tear Ishizu I'd rather have handtraps to cut them off completely. That's usually the only way to win. Board breakers aren't good enough to main Deck in this version of VW imo. They're bricky and allow a broken Deck to play and make their broken end board. I need the handtraps to back up my weak end board too. Just my thoughts. Appreciate the rec and comment! Definitely good points. If I was spending more I'd definitely pick up Fenrirs and Baronne. I like the versatility this variant has to offer though.
Only problem with Fenrir and Baronne right now is that if you are buying those, you are probably playing a deck that doesn't lose to itself instead of Virtual World.
