It's generally not worth the brick in my opinion. I would need it to be a REALLY good interruption or something good going second for it to be worth it. I feel like I'd side it out every time going second so it'd almost never be used. That being said, I haven't tested it for this format and it may especially be worth it if people aren't main decking Droll.

@ Appreciate the reply! Nibiru seems to be the trend now, but VW got us covered for that, I hope 😅 I’ve tried lots of builds and feel like this pure version might be the only one worth playing at the moment. Adventure is bricky and doesn’t give great value anymore. PUNK is just bad imo…

Oh, I’m also playing Dragoon package. Have you considered it? I feel sometimes like Dragoon can be a win-con on its own against some decks.

Thank you! I haven't played in an event since Ryzeal released so unfortunately do not have much insight on the matchup. I imagine it isn't going to be an especially hard matchup but you'll need non-engine going second. I've been really busy in 2024 but stay tuned for 2025 I think I'll start playing more!

Yes! That's actually something I'm considering testing. But when Shenshen is good, it's better value to go for Shenshen. This new format I don't think Shenshen is very good, so Dragoon might be the play.

It kinda depends vs the Deck. Vs Tenpai going first I usually would just try and make Jaja (E Tele + a normal summon, for example) and pass. If I draw City or Chuche hopefully I have a live Chuche as well. Vs Kashtira going second I will usually just try and make a rank 3 and go into Zeus. If you don't draw a good enough hand, you can't do much except at least hope to get Chuche live. Remember, VW names can still be activated under Shifter. Sometimes you just have to pray that your nonengine is enough to let you survive.

@@alvinzeneli9426 That's in one of my most recent replies. It's hard to say what a typical end board looks like but I'd say usually Shenshen + Crystal Wing + Chuche

Speedroid package is definitely an option over the FBG and Talents, for example. But it plays into Droll and I was ok with my consistency as is. I definitely don't hate it though. It's possible it was better for this event, but I couldn't justify the space.

Standard end board when you go full combo is Crystal Wing + Shenshen + Chuche with follow up and hopefully some non-engine. It's hard to give an exact end board because every card you open decides your line and each draw can change the route.

Centurion engine in Virtual World? I don't really think it's worth it without Hot Red Calamity and Baronne in the game. I think it's strong though, similar to Swordsoul in Virtual World. Centurion alone is probably just better than VW though with not much uniqueness to it. I haven't tested it much myself but I don't think it's optimal in VW unless there's some card or play I'm unaware of that makes them both better.

Nice! That's something I'd be interested in testing if I got some more time. I feel like it's worse without Baronne, but I'm looking forward to the new Swordsoul cards nonetheless.

I played this deck 2 formats ago and it was a pleasure nowdays I would be scared picking it up well known that my opponent could run charmies

@@netdeckhipster3867 Thanks for commenting! I did not really miss Called By in the main since almost no decks that I'm worried about main deck Mulcharmy Purulia or Dimension Shifter. It was kinda between Called By, TTT, or another hand trap and I'm glad I went with TTT. I do not auto lose to Mulcharmy Fuwaros. It's not that good vs most VW hands. I'll give them 1-2 draws and still end on a decent board. I main deck 3 Ash Blossom though which helps give me the option if I open it. Most people will hold Fuwa for main phase (which is correct imo) but I'll side in the Called By going first and often keep the Ash/TTTs in. I would definitely play Mulcharmys if I had access to them. I think they would've replaced the Belles and Soul Releases. I didn't really have time to test, change up my list, or ask for cards before this event tho.

Good question! I think typically Fire King Snake Eye would've been my hardest matchup. But in this event, my closest match was probably Tenpai. Both Game 2 and Game 3 I barely avoided getting OTKd and had to think a lot if I wanted to go first or second. The Centurion match final round was the only one I lost 0-2, but that was just bc game 1 I lost die roll + opened zero hand traps and game 2 I bricked.

@@PhuckedUpPhilosophy I ended up still going first for that match! I had a feeling they were siding heavy to go first and they did things that made me think they didn't know the matchup too well anyway even if they were siding to go second.

15:20 I think I only got hand trapped once but I believe they opened at least two and didn't use one because they wanted to tribute it for deception which I saw later. They had combo and going second cards but just couldn't play through the board/interrupts I had left.

14:35 Another correction I thought of: they actually did have an out for Shenshen which is why they played. They started with an Imperm on Shenshen.

Probably wouldn't have made a big difference for my matchups; I think Evenly would've been slightly better considering I'm playing FBG and Rollback. But again, I really only saw them going first and Evenly is usually dead mid-game. I think if I were to choose another boardbreaker, 3 Forbidden Droplet would've been an objective improvement even though it's a little more expensive for card cost.

Uhhh because I know I could just make it better anyway 🤓 But maybe one of these days I'll give em a whirl I would just have to get used to playing the different ED and stuff

Thanks! VW is a very difficult Deck to play and honestly even if you play perfectly you can still lose to bricks and better Decks pretty easily. I feel like I played perfectly in one of the matches I lost and in the other I think I could've done something differently but not sure if it was even correct or winning me the game. It'll take practice and at large events you'll definitely have to run an optimal, consistent list. Good luck with it in the future! Hope these videos are able to help spur ideas as well.

I think Adventure is still good! It's a little brickier and less versatile than the Rollback variants that are about to come out. I would play it pretty similarly to this but definitely play Beatrice in the extra Deck and I'd play a thicker Deck. Right now, I think you could just replace the 3 Desires, 2 Prosp, 1 Ghost Ogre, and 1 Nyan for 2 Water Girl 2 Rite and Gryphon/Fateful/Dracoback. I have an adventure VW list from just last year on this channel! I would check that out. Only thing I would change about that one is probably play more consistency cards and maybe a level 10 or level 7. Feel free to test it out and let me know what you think!

@bobonomics ah gotcha! I'll try out adventure since rollback is going for like 40$ now and I'm not entirely sure how long it is for this world with all the unfun cards it enables

Also just hitting a "you can't play this turn" button isn't very fun to me and I think it subtracts from the reason I play decks, I do play midrange in like every card game I play lol

Prosp is pretty much only if it's the only card to activate. If you don't want to play Prosp, you can play Small World, FBG, etc. It's kinda my inferior consistency card, but SOMETHING like that is necessary or else you'll brick too much.

The card is pretty much always good. Sometimes it's the only top Deck that keeps you alive. In 42, you're unlikely to banish everything good. If you're super scared, you can play around it 99% of the time first by dumping a Qinglong or activating an E Tele or something and THEN activating it. You want to avoid starting with it, similar to with Swordsoul. But at the end of the day, resolving it once shouldn't matter too much. You play Nyan for the shuffle back as well.

Love all the questions! Thank you for commenting. I'll try hit them one by one: - To replace Totem Bird my top 3 options would be Break Sword, Jaja, or Xyz Armor Torpedo. Longlong isn't generic enough unfortunately but is a perfectly good replacement for Fortune Tune. - If not playing Lars, I think Beatrice or Utopia Beyond are good options still. It kind of comes down to your play style too and what comes up the most. If you're playing two Rank 3s, there's a world where you could consider a Downerd. - Full Armored Xyz line is definitely good but I'm not convinced it adds enough to justify the brick and extra Deck space. It did well for me when I played it but the only time I took it to a big event I lost 8/9 die rolls so it wasn't doing me many favors. I played pretty much the exact same build but with 43 cards instead. - I prefer pure. I think it's a little harder to play and sometimes weaker but more versatile. Right now, I think Transaction Rollback or regular will be the best versions. Playing packages like Adventure, Speedroid, and Armored Xyz are more format dependent imo. I'm thinking with Fenrirs at 3 and Droll so popular, none of those are optimal right now. - I kinda hate Malong because it takes 3 monsters to make one Baronne... But I think it may be necessary next format. So far I haven't liked it at all but to protect Beatrice it might be optimal. - I haven't tried any of the zombie stuff. I've seen it and I think it's good. I just haven't played with it. It's definitely not necessary but I could see it being cracked in a certain meta. Hope all that helps! @@bobonomics Thanks for answering my questions! I've only been able to do tests with proxies for now since I'm still missing a few cards in paper. The Armored stuff have been kinda nice, Droll does hit it pretty hard though. Was kinda sad that Snatch Steal didn't proc Dark Knight Lancer effect to attach though, would've been a fun interaction. The zombie lines have been helping a bunch against Droll and getting over some stuff like Zeus with the 3.5K Eldlich, specially since I've yet to find a Utopia Beyond.

@@Nesetera Glad I could help! The zombie stuff sounds interesting! And yeah snatch steal will only trigger Dark Knight if your opponent uses it to steal another monster you control. It'll pretty much never come up. Good luck with the Deck though and thanks again for commenting and following.

I may make a test hand video eventually but it's really hard to actually show it optimally since your discards and what's in the format change what route you go for. It all depends on your other cards, your draws, and what you're playing around. For basic VW combos, I would watch tcgsam old videos. Look up "tcgsam Virtual World combos" you should find a few. The Deck is difficult overall though I think playing with good players and vs meta is the best practice.

I don't always do 6 is the crazy part! Especially if I'm deep into the game and want to preserve my grind. But if going first I'll usually banish the draw related cards like Charge and Coral + going second cards like Fortune Tune, Lars, Wollow, M7, etc whatever I don't think will come up given my hand. Like if I know I'm going to make Baronne, I'll prob banish the Tzolkin/CW.

Thanks so much! I'm not sure top 17 would count as "a top" since it's not top 8, but glad to get the invite at such a tough regional. I think VW is going to well-positioned next format for sure. Especially if the Rollback variant proves to be the optimal way to play, I think it has better matchups into the meta than it historically has. It's still underpowered and a little less consistent compared to meta Decks but it may be the best it's ever been in a while starting next week.

NO WAY really?? I considered going to YCS Indy too that sucks one of us could've gotten VW a top. That's still very impressive though. What was your list like? Main Deck skill drain pure version?

No skill drain I was testing it out but wasn’t a huge fan of it. At ycs Indy I was playing a 42 pure card list with handtraps and fenrir. Where the list shined I was siding a Beatrice with zombie world and necroworld banshee and the shufflers. It was a searchable way to deal with a lot of matchup tear, infernoble,floo d-link etc… good stuff rocking vw and on the invite!

It honestly may be better than pure exactly right now. It's better into RACE and Shifter. But I decided to stick with pure since it's easier to build a more consistent version of it. There's pros and cons to both; Adventure is definitely playable right now though so if you like it more I'd go with it. I think Armored Xyz also works well with it but I'd recommend playing a bigger Deck.

Similar to another reply, I think Adventure VW has its place in this format. It may even be better than pure. With Armored Xyz, the extra Deck gets tighter AND of course you add another brick. But I think that variant may be the strongest VW variant. My main concern is that it is less consistent than pure and plays harder into handtraps like Droll and Lock Bird. So it's a little more glass cannony, but definitely could play it and get similar results.

Thanks! I have considered this for sure. Unfortunately, VW is one of those decks that's a 2-3 card combo Deck where the other cards in your hand greatly affect it. It's pretty non-linear depending on what you want to play around and go for. I may make a test hand video one of these days, but it would probably be off the cuff and not super useful. I normally don't memorize lines and just play it through experience. I'll consider for future though!

Droll in the main is definitely reasonable! Mannadium is so difficult of a matchup that I think it could be justified. At the same time, Lab isn't super difficult to beat. Have you taken it to events and liked Droll a lot over Imperm or Ash?

I normally run 2 FBG in my standard build and I definitely could've played it in this. But FBG is one of the inferior consistency cards for VW because it's at least a -1 every time. If you're playing majority monsters, I lean towards Small World these days. Or just more Pots. Consistency is one of the things I plan on improving for this build. As far as hot red, I don't think it's good enough because you don't really have the space in the ED + it's fragile to Nibiru. This regional was when Mannadome was popular too so I figured people would be prepared for it. You can check out my response to another comment that asked about Calamity lock; I think it's potentially the best variant in the future but probably not optimal for this event.

@@ZEROTURBO1092 I think if Lancea is out of the format, Small World tends to be a bit better in pure because at least it doesn't go through your Qinglong. It can also sometimes search something that isn't a name. It's a little stronger and a little less consistent because it technically requires set up. If you play Small World though, I'd recommend trying to max out on monsters that you play. It's no good if you don't have monsters in your hand.

Honestly, this Deck is hard to make combo videos for since the rest of your hand pretty much always changes your preferred order, dumps, and searches. I could make a combo video eventually if that's something people are interested in but it wouldn't be THAT helpful since this Deck is difficult and non-linear at times. I know fellow VW player @tcgsam has some virtual world combo videos but I don't think he plays Adventure. Either way, the pure version is very similar it's just a different Extra Deck. If you want Adventure specifically, I'm not sure if it exists but I'm sure there's something out there. I could make one if that's something you really want just reply to this to let me know. Hope I was of some help!

I didn't play Crimson Dragon because I think it's too fragile to Nibiru, Imperm, etc. That's my main complaint. I wouldn't play it right now, but I'm sure eventually it will be a good variant. VW can't comfortably put up a negate under 5 summon AND make two level 12s so pulling off the Crimson Lock is usually risky. I also don't think I owned Crimson Dragon at the time and I didn't have much testing with it. It wouldn't have been great for this event in my opinion though; Mannadome is just a better Crimson Lock Deck and was popular at the time so I'd rather have a different competitive edge that wasn't prepared for.

Would've loved to see another VW there and see how it does! I think I was the only VW in the room 🥲 Especially curious how all the different variants are since I don't have time to play them all
