This was just what I wanted, simple no bullshit, no scales, no thermometer instructions. You were even polite enough to edit out the politics! What more could I want?
I just bought the exact same coffee maker in a thriftstore today for 2 bucks, and this is the perfect instructional vid to make a perfect cup o'Joe. Thank you !!!
mate. i love your style so much. You're so right about taking the mess out of coffee - this is coming from a barista with 10 years experience (I have a moustache, but don't wax it). Your approach is so refreshing. "BOOM"
I have had a french press for years sitting in the cabinet and not until I watched your video did I have any idea what in the heck to do with it. I now make the best coffee that I have ever made with that thing and I am going to impress my friends with your spaghetti squash and creamed kale recipes! Thank you!
I love this video, im getting my first french press today and all of the other tutorial videos seemed so intimidating, like if i didn't do it super well the coffee would be ruined. Nice to see it dosen't have to be such a finely tuned process
OMG I FOUND YOU! i saw this video years ago, and ever since IVE BEEN SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW to find it again. i never forgot it. my fav french press video, the coffee looks so good and awesome results. thank you
Looks great boss! I make my press every night and it makes me SO Happy. I grind my beans just a little finer than yours but nowhere near as ground as you would for a regular coffee machine. I loved watching this cuz early on I had such a hard time with it!
As a fully credentialed coffee snob with a coffee snob job I couldn’t decide whether I was more stressed out or amused by this... you’ve pretty much got us nailed, spot on and I love you for it. And if the way you make coffee makes you happy, I’m happy you’re happy -deep breaths, anxious moustache twiddling-
I just watched a bunch of fancy pants how to use your French press vids and laughed so hard after watching this one.. Thanks for calming my shit.. I was freaking out for a moment thinking--I ain't cut out for the French press haha!! But I think I'm good.. Thanks for the tips ;)
Ha! I was thinking the same thing! Also, I like my coffee first thing in the morning and was thinking that I'd be too sleepy to mess with timers, pre-heating the glass pot and weighing out beans.
I just got one in an office grab bag. I made my first pot and it was yucky! You've inspired me to try again!! I will not give up until I get the perfect pot !!!!! Great video !!!!
After watching your daughter make expresso, I decided to watch this too as my drjp maker might be kaput. Really enjoyed both videos and how light hearted you and your family make them.
excellent, just plain down to earth instructions. If I might make 1 suggestion: Don't use a metal spoon when stirring the grounds in the hot carafe. The metal on glass can crack it. I speak from experience. I use a long plastic milk shake spoon now. Again, thanks.
Thank you so much for cutting the b.s. on this. You two make a great team! I think I have been steeping a little too long but it doesn’t taste bitter or anything. Fun video.
this Canadian elder (81) is excited to find your french press coffee 'how to'. and my quick run through the recipes on your site . This where I am pitching my tent.
Thank you for the easy instructions for using a French press to make my coffee. Love the coffee grinding face you made, I sure that makes all the difference :D
The French press he used is at Walmart and I bought it this morning when my electric coffee maker broke and I wanted hard-core espresso type and it cost 19.88 at Walmart. It is an amazing cuppa coffee you can make it super dark or light make it like you want and it will never break there’s no electrical system that can go wrong
Dude I like your vibe! I feel like you would be a cool guy to hang out with lol. I've been using an aeropress for some time, but I'm tired of going through the motion 4-5 times a day for 4-5 cups, gonna go by a French press now.
So my girl got me a French press & I said to my self " Wonder if boy Chef Buck has a vid on this gadget?" Cause I LOVE me some coffee ☕️ & I want to make it perfect 👌 Of course he has a vid👍 Forever fan buddy lol Thanks as always
Loved this video, all the others I watched were intimidating, but you made me feel like I could actually do this! Can't wait to try it! Thanks.....Dude!
Hey Buck, I got A Fib a while back and can't have caffeine anymore but I watched anyway. I have been experimenting with making chicory and barley coffee. It looks like coffee but there is no boom. glad to see you 2 posting again. have a cup of iced coffee for me.
I just got a French Press machine and had no idea how to use it. This video made what seemed like a very scary process seem like no sweat at all. Thanks.
I'm a coffee geek and maybe I'd be categorized as wanting mine to "fly to the moon" (as ye say). But you know what, I LOVED this video!!! I laughed and it just gave me some joy!
Perfect coffee video, fresh ground coffee and hot water (its that simple)! I also love the Kona. Awesome video, please make more. (burr grinder never heard of such a thing before now.)
French press is my favorite way to make coffee...we're staying at a house sit right now and I've been using the owner's moka pot to make coffee lately...I like that, too (for a cafe au lait), but if I could only make coffee one way I'd always pick a French press
Chef Buck, you are hilarious! I'm making my coffee with a french press too and it's like you say: delicioso! Subscribed and watching as many vids as I can. Greets from the Netherlands, dude!
Hey Chef! I JUST made your Scandinavian egg coffee! Drinking it NOW. WOW it's so smooth! I REALLY want to learn ways to make my coffee smoother! I want bold smooth coffee!
Long time watcher first time commenting. First you crack me the f up. Thank you. This is exactly how me make our coffee - well minus one scoop plus the addition of the dance while you grind maneuver (try it next time). Thanks again for always keeping it real - informative and funny as hell.
Hello Chef Buck We switched to a hand grinder for coffee beans. Grind coffee beans the same way, ground it like you. Not fine. Beats the electric grinder that we used for 8yr+. :D Keep up the great videos.
My kuerig quit on me today. I have one of these I bought years ago that I just hucked in the back of my cupboards. I have adhd and that's just the kind of thing we do. I used it today tore open a couple McDonald's kcups. Omg it was a really good cup of coffee. I didn't even follow the four minutes or wait for the water to cool. The coffee was slightly fine. Cream made it smooth palatable and good. I can't wait to try this with full beans ground in my magic bullet. You saved me a ton of money on a new coffee maker lol. Shit I have all this free space on my counter top. Bye bye kuerig.... I think this would be good for loose green tea too.
yeah, I've come to prize counter space as I get older (and especially as we move into dinkier and dinkier apartments)....got rid of the microwave a few years ago and haven't missed it.
thank you!!!!! needed simple instructions for coffee in a french press! i have found some fancy stupid instructions. this was just right.... so THANK YOU!
Thank you!! I just to switched to French press after our coffee maker broke and was starting to get frustrated as it wouldn't come out right with the PhD method! Just made some coffee watching your video and it came out perfect. Thank you for taking the complication out of the French press. 👍🏻
I heat my water in the microwave just under 3 minutes in my coffee mug. I use about 4 tablespoons of decaf coffee ( I'm caffeine sensitive btw). While the water and grounds are brewing in the press, I microwave the creamer in my mug for 30 seconds. ******@@@And BOOM! Easy way to make coffee. I would love to find some whole bean decaffeinated coffee, But I'll have to order it online one day as I can't find them at any stores. One thing tho, shake and pulsate the blade grinder when grinding. It will help make it a little more even.
+Carl Blemming I've got a dinky French Press, too, which is the one I generally use, but CG has been drinking more coffee lately, so I went crazy and bought a larger French Press
My beard/hat combo is a long goatee and DWC Baseball cap thank you But yeah that’s pretty much the same exact thing they do in the other videos, just without all the *pretension*
So how many cups of coffee (measuring by an actual coffee cup) did you get? It looks like you got about 4 cups, 2 cups each? My wife and I are using a drip coffee maker and grind our own store-bought beans. We drink two or 3 cups each out of a 10-"cup" pot, but she uses a large mug while I use regular sized coffee mugs. We bought ourselves a burr grinder for Christmas. Before that we had a blade grinder similar to yours. The grind DOES make a difference, we noticed that right away! Overall, a good video for those wondering about how to use a French Press, and just want a good cup of regular Joe w/o all the snobby bs of coffee connoisseurs.
great video, lol. love the humor. spot on. I just got a French press but don't have whole beans yet so I used some bagged stuff. It turned out a lil bitter for me after only 3 mins so I think the suggested ratio might be a little to much. 1 rounded tablespoon per 4oz but that's for already ground. You are saying the same ratio but with whole beans which obviously wont convert to 1tbsp of ground.
This was just what I wanted, simple no bullshit, no scales, no thermometer instructions. You were even polite enough to edit out the politics! What more could I want?
I like Steve Jobs explaining me how to make coffee
😂😂😂🤣
Bruuuuuhhh he does look like steve
I just bought the exact same coffee maker in a thriftstore today for 2 bucks, and this is the perfect instructional vid to make a perfect cup o'Joe. Thank you !!!
LOL. I no longer stress about my grind size. This coffee therapist has set me free.
Just got me a french press, been watching videos for an hour, this is the best instructions ive seen.
Thanks for watching!--and thanks for the kind comment....hope you have a great holiday and new year!

This is what I needed. lol. The Dad approach. Not the science coffee sissy approach.
Jeremy Camp yeah those Sissys...using the science and whatnot
😂😂😂
OMG I FOUND YOU!
i saw this video years ago, and ever since IVE BEEN SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW to find it again.

yeah...it's definitely not rocket science...finding and fresh grinding coffee beans you like is the thing that's gonna make the most difference
DAMS indistress you took the words out of my mouth!
Ha! I was thinking the same thing! Also, I like my coffee first thing in the morning and was thinking that I'd be too sleepy to mess with timers, pre-heating the glass pot and weighing out beans.
Me too!! I'm happy I found this less pretentious video.
Yes, he makes it easier for me to understand.
I just got one in an office grab bag. I made my first pot and it was yucky! You've inspired me to try again!! I will not give up until I get the perfect pot !!!!! Great video !!!!
French Press in an office grab bag sounds like a win!
Loved your video, dude! Very down to Earth without the BS most people put out. Keep up the good work!
Excellent presentation and fun to watch. Thanks for answering a lot of questions I've had for years.
At what point do you add the whiskey?
Before and after
And in between
This is the one slightly unnoticed comment that deserves more.
😂
Do people do that??
I learned a few pointers. Thanks. And, thanks to the both of you for the smiles.
ive watched 10 french press videos and this is the best one tbh lol
Loved this video! Easy peasy without the phd. :) Plus loved the dynamic between you and your wife.
I like this guy. "it's not the end of the world!"
After watching your daughter make expresso, I decided to watch this too as my drjp maker might be kaput. Really enjoyed both videos and how light hearted you and your family make them.
Great video 👍...love the humor. I've been wanting a French Press and you just clinched it for me. Thank You.

This is the best no-bullshit how-to-french-press coffee video on the internet. Subscribed
Thanks for keeping it simple, and giving the tablespoon measurements. Ain’t nobody got time to whip out the triple beam just to make a cup!!!
Rofl this was the best French press tutorial I’ve ever seen
this Canadian elder (81) is excited to find your french press coffee 'how to'. and my quick run through the recipes on your site . This where I am pitching my tent.
Thank you for the easy instructions for using a French press to make my coffee. Love the coffee grinding face you made, I sure that makes all the difference :D
Imagine how better that coffee could be if he had a PhD.
Finally. Someone who gives it to ya straight. I don’t know what other videos you have but you have a new subscriber. :)
This maybe the best video I've seen, you two are great!
I loved the demo and the two of you.

Love this! My first attempt at FP was on the weak side, after watching your simple approach, I adjusted and perfect! Just too bad you're taken ;)
p.s. the day I think about buying a scale to make coffee is the day I switch to tea!
Perfect..simple, easy to understand. I want a French Press now. This guy is hilarious. I want him to be my uncle.
Love the tone of this video!!
This was a fun instructional on the use of the French press. Thanks
Hey Buck, I got A Fib a while back and can't have caffeine anymore but I watched anyway. I have been experimenting with making chicory and barley coffee. It looks like coffee but there is no boom. glad to see you 2 posting again. have a cup of iced coffee for me.

Chef Buck, you are hilarious! I'm making my coffee with a french press too and it's like you say: delicioso! Subscribed and watching as many vids as I can. Greets from the Netherlands, dude!

Hey, where'd you get the hand grinder for coffee beans, if I may ask? Would love to have one.

Love your video!! My husband makes our coffe with the french press and enjoy it making it!!
I like this guy !!! And those pecan sandies!! Going to do my coffee now!
Living in Louisiana, the best brand of coffee I ever had was Luzianne coffee. Have to order it online now, since I am not in Louisiana.
I used to live in New Orleans and would drink a ton of chicory coffee...even now years later, I'm sure my insides are coffee-stained
I appreciate your insight and personality... Now, I’m ready to make some French Press Coffee🙋♂️ Thank you
The three videos I watched before you I thought! No way and hell am I doing this! But you’ve convinced me you’re funny as heck and fun to watch 🤣
perfect. no scales. exact instructions and measurements. plus....comedy routine.
thank you!!!!! needed simple instructions for coffee in a french press! i have found some fancy stupid instructions. this was just right.... so THANK YOU!
That grind is exactly why you should get a burr grinder.
Thank you for helping me make up my mind. Was trying to decide between Aeropress, Chemex or this. The French press it is!
Thank you!! I just to switched to French press after our coffee maker broke and was starting to get frustrated as it wouldn't come out right with the PhD method! Just made some coffee watching your video and it came out perfect. Thank you for taking the complication out of the French press. 👍🏻

I have a small single-cup french press. I don't use it much though, as it's a pain to clean up. It does make good coffee.
+Carl Blemming I've got a dinky French Press, too, which is the one I generally use, but CG has been drinking more coffee lately, so I went crazy and bought a larger French Press
First video I watched of yours, lol I love this!!
Really down to earth, nice.
My beard/hat combo is a long goatee and DWC Baseball cap thank you
