    • @hobomike6935

      I think they have to graft the trees, or cut saplings in order to continue growing the fruit.
      Some of the oranges have seeds. Halo oranges are a similar brand that often have seeds even though they're supposed to be seedless.
      Some fruits can be bred to have tiny, chewable seeds that you don't have to spit out, but you can still grow a new plant from them.

    Great video! I'm interested to know more about how this fruit came to be.... according to both the website you linked and the official cuties website, the fruit is non-GMO verified, but it still seems to last an unusually long time, be much easier to peel and break slices apart than other oranges, very brightly-colored peel, ETC ETC. Was this specific orange variety cross-bred? Other brands of mandarin oranges do not seem to have these qualities.

    • @Theproducenerd
      @Theproducenerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's a link you might find of interest: www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/morton/mandarin_orange.html. Cuties are a mix of Clementine (which are covered in the link) and W. Murcott mandarins.

    But how are the so easy to peel? It’s like air was forced into the peeling to separate it from the actual eating part. Idk. Can’t find this answer anywhere. Maybe they really do grow easy af to peel right off the tree.

      @@sOnlight67 They're bred to be brightly colored, sweet, easy to peel, easy to separate, seedless, and to be shelf-stable for MUCH longer than other fruit.
      The fibrous insides don't break down as easily (why the orange lasts a long time without rotting) and this also means that it can help you pass stools if you're having bowel troubles.

      There is a huge demand for agricultural workers and a lot of companies have trouble finding enough workers to help grow, harvest and pack all of their product. I am sure they would be happy to hire more workers, regardless of where they are from.
