四季がある日本では大体3-4月位に行います。
鉢を変えて気分を替えたい時は、根の整理をしなければ、厳冬期を除き、植え替えても大丈夫な場合が多いです。
根を整理して植え替える場合は、根が切られた後、しっかりと新しい根が出て欲しいですから、「樹の芽が成長する前」が良いです。
芽が成長する時期に根を切ってしまうと、両方成長させなければならなくなり、樹が疲れてしまいます。
盆栽を小さく保つ為にはある程度のストレスを与える必要がありますが、多すぎるストレスは盆栽を枯らします。
もし、入手したばかりの盆栽で、盆栽の成長ルーティーンがわからない場合は、野生の植物を参考にするのも良いと思います。「家の近くの雑草達が成長しだす1-2ヶ月前」位に根を整理してやるという感覚で良いと思います。ちょっと強引ですけれども。枯れることはないです。
