You have just opened up an entire musical world withNiN. His skill, depth, mraning, and breadth is unmatched. The album The Fragile is a journey. And of course Hurt, and the Still album will make you cry.
Exactly. With Teeth and the fragile are my two favorites of theirs. Also love Halsey's newest that was produced by Trent and Atticus Ross. An amazing album and collaboration that begs exploration.
You have hit on one of the “radio friendliest” NIN songs. I hope you will explore Trent’s brilliance through The Downward Spiral, I am a Gen X and love Pretty Hate Machine so I hop you will react to March of the Pigs and Something I Can Not Have and Head Like A Hole
@@Ciriousglitch Pretty Hate Machine still holds a special place in my heart, as does the girl that opened me up to NIN with that CD. There are better stand alone songs on other albums, and probably other albums that are better, but the memories and feelings that go along with Pretty Hate Machine will always have it at the top. Its been in every car I've owned in one format or another for almost 30 years, lol.
"What if this whole crusade's ...a charade" is just an insanely well written line. The phrasing, and how it flows is pure magic. NIN, for the serious fans anyway, is almost more of an ethos or philosophy, than just a collection of great music. Like it's own alternate reality with it's own history, and obscure references. Talk of Halos, and revolutions, and the threads that tie it all together.
One of the first bands I ever fell in love with. Saw them during the Downward Spiral tour in the 90's featuring The Jim Rose Circus. Incredible musicianship!!! Trent is awesome! The Fragile tour in the early 2000's was great too. With A Perfect Circle first hitting the scene. Really glad you covered this young lady. Nice!!!!
The music of Nine Inch Nails is a world of incredible songwriting and innovative recording. His earliest work is very light and synth-y. That was followed by an ultra-heavy EP. By the mid ‘90s he was combining the two to excellent effect. Around that time was when the mainstream noticed his work more. But it’s the opposite of easily digestible music. The songwriting is just second to none in my view.
if you haven't listened to it yet, check out both Nine Inch Nails and Johnny Cash's versions of Hurt. Nine Inch Nails is the original and Johnny Cash covered it and they've both amazing versions.
Trent Reznor/NIN has a very dynamic library. Their earlier material (Pretty Hate Machine/Broken/Downward Spiral) is much more aggressive, but then Reznor started to mellow out (relatively speaking, for the most part) in the late 90s with 'The Fragile', their 3rd LP (they've released 11 albums total). Reznor has also done several movie scores, by himself ('Natural Born Killers', 'The Lost Highway') as well as with his NIN bandmate, Atticus Ross ('The Social Network', 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', 'Gone Girl' & Pixar's 'Soul', among others). Reznor & Ross also produced Halsey's latest album "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power"...
Wew NIN nice. My favorite live performance is March of the Pigs on stage in Melbourne (from their YT Channel) in case you want to check out a live show.
hello! I've been listening to this band for half my life and for me they have been the soundtrack of my life!! Each album is different and Trent is one of the best composers he has had in the last 40 years!! They take you down to hell and they take you back up again with more strength!! I'm glad you listen to these groups and other artists like David Bowie. It's a shame you live so far away because it would be a pleasure to talk to you about music!! do not ever change!! You're a sweetie!! greetings from Spain!
NIN Broken album was Trent lashing out against their record label... probably some of his better and more agressive work. NIN had the Broken EP and AiC had the Jar of Flies EP... one of those gems among the gold.
Anyway, you can check out *FILTER* That band is formed by Former Guitarist of Nine Inch Nails, Richard Patrick ( Who also a Brother of Terminator Actor who played T-1000, Robert Patrick ) Check out their song: *FILTER - WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE* Trust me, you gonna love it 🖤
FYI - NIN IS Trent Reznor with Atticus Ross joining as his permanent mix engineer and co-composer in 2016. In studio, Trent writes all the music, sings all the lyrics, and plays all the instruments! When NIN goes on tour, Trent hires and trains the musicians on his songs for that tour, then does it again for the next! Trent and Atticus have also wrote scores for many TV shows (The Batman for example), and many movies (h the Social Network for example)! 😊
SOMETHING I CAN NEVER HAVE, is awesome, it was in NATURAL BORN KILLERS, and the song 🎵 from WANTED, "EVERYDAY IS EXACTLY THE SAME" but the 1st Album Pretty HATE MACHINE, I can listen to that from beginning to end, DOWN IN IT, is probably my favorite song on that one.
I would love to watch you watch "The Perfect Drug". It was my first NIN song. It definitely shaped/changed my taste in rock dramatically. It introduced me to the dissonant and the subtly sinister style of music.
Yes. Great choice and a great album; one of their finest. Be sure to check out With Teeth and The Fragile, two of my favorites. Continue down the rabbit hole...
I am 62. I was a ballet dancer/teacher for 50 years. I have a YT ballet channel. I've seen NIN live 13 times. I have worshipped at the church that is Trent Reznor since I first heard Pretty Hate Machine in 1989. I am now subbed to your channel.
This is probably the best song to start with the NIN saga. Just because it's very accessible. I really recommend you go into more deep dives from them. Such a great band.
I remember this album.. it was deep in the "global war on terror" and the frustration that you feel is partly fed by that, mixed with the regular NIN themes.
Just subbed solely because you’re reacting to this song. A few other songs I think you’d both appreciate and enjoy [that you’ve unlikely encountered before]: - Oslo in the Summertime - of Montreal (well-produced hook and great cohesion) - Subways - The Avalanches (masterful, complex, sample-heavy production) - Now - Eyedea & Abilities (one MC, one DJ. Yes, that’s legit scratching (and rapping - the lyrics have meaning)) - When I Was Done Dying - Dan Deacon (watch the official video. No pauses until it’s done. If you smoke or otherwise inebriate, I’d recommend a pre-consumption before watching) Great reaction - hopefully you give one of those (^) a shot!
Wow, surprising (and good) choice. NIN is one of my favourite bands and I love this song, but probably isn't the first I would recommend. Other great great great songs are the most typical songs like Head like a hole, Hurt or Closer, but others too like Something I can never have, Wish, Last, March of the pigs, Burn (for me the best Industrial metal example), The perfect drug, Somewhat damaged, The great below or Survivalism.
I love your take on metal. Such a cute, bubbly personality getting right into some crazy heavy metal 😂. I think you should check out SiM - The Rumbling. They're a Japanese band, but sing in English and they've also done intro songs for the anime Attack on Titan, which is the song that I suggested.
If you want to hear more... You should be listenting to year zero. It's so good so it's very recomended in this type of generation to stay clean to not have so much brainrot or anything.
Haha! I can relate to car thing. I even sometimes slow down a bit so I get to destination when song finishes. My wife thinks I'm weird, but what does she know, right? LOL
So so so happy you didn't start with Closer. Other than that, I'm not suggesting anything, I'm sure the others got that covered andconce u really like it, you'll get to them all eventually. I had taken a NIN break for a while now (been pretty laser focused on a certain melodic death metal band-Be'lakor💚), lucky me there's a bunch of albums I missed! This is gonna be awesome. It's like it's 1994 again, but this time I don't have to wait for the release date, go to an actual record store, & buy a physical CD. 😅 I tell you, I was *giddy* for that album & it did not disappoint. It was all I loved about Trent and some wonderful new thrills I didn't expect. 💚 Enjoy tye journey!
It doesn’t look like it in the video, but I believe they had fun with this song because it’s so up beat & different than there other stuff. Great reaction. Thanks for the video.
The fascinating thing is how he's gone from Gen X pro rock to becoming one of the most successful Hollywood composers and David Fincher's musical muse winning 2 Oscars.

Listen to "The Downward Spiral" album. Probably one of the best albums of the 90's.
@@VenomousCarnage69the 90's had sooo much great music. Was a great time to be a teenager
Exactly. With Teeth and the fragile are my two favorites of theirs. Also love Halsey's newest that was produced by Trent and Atticus Ross. An amazing album and collaboration that begs exploration.
yeah, dude is awful :P

Yeah, If she reacts to added NIN songs - She will be even more tongue-tied as the Journey begins. It will be fun to see further reactions..
Pretty Hate Machine is my favorite album! March of the Pigs is great also but on Downward Spiral
I’ve been a fan since I was 7 I’m 35 seen him live 8 times….the guy is not of this earth it’s just an experience like tool for me not just music

"Wish" or "Head Like A Hole" needs to be listened to next. Welcome to the NIN universe
My fav band for about 10 years now. Such a diverse band that never sounds the same. Would really love more NIN song reactions!
Agreed, She will never be the same!
Trent is a genius. Please do more of his work!
I've been listening to Trent for over 30 yrs. Every song brings a new memory!
"With Teeth" as an entire album is much more accessible to get into NIN. I'm Glad your first introduction wasn't "Closer"

the show i saw on this album tour was honestly the best show i've ever been to, it was recorded for a hd dvd video.
