It’s annoying that many of these journalists keep avoiding the question of the contradiction between the Federal law and state law. It has been said times without number that defamation is criminal offense at Federal level so even if your state doesn’t count it as an offense the nominal complainant can still use the Federal regional law against you irrespective of what your state says. For the record, Northern Nigeria uses Penal code and Southern Nigeria uses Criminal code act. For instance, the criminal code act is said to contradict that civil Procedure rules of Lagos when considering Defamation as an offense. Why is contradiction like that? Can someone explain better
