    Have planted as a back drop over an acre. Love the sparkle of pink and yellow flowers. They have to be tough to grow here in Central Texas. Plus deer generally leave then alone. Each cut-back encourages multi branching. Also easy to propagate. Thanks for vid.

    Thanks for the information, it's very helpful. One thing though, why didn't you have a small table that comes up to your waist next to you, then set the pot on it. That way you can give your presentation without constantly messing with the pot. My arms were getting tired just watching you fiddling non-stop with the plant. Other than that, you presented very useful information. Thanks again.

    Thanks so much this is an amazing video, so happy to have found it. I have planted three Miss Huff’s this summer they came from a 3 inch pot and they have grown to be about 1-1/2 feet tall to about the same widthwise so far this summer and it’s only been about 2 months, I’m so excited! I’m just hoping I have given them enough room in between! Thanks for the great tips I wish I had planted some wood chips in with my clay soil but I will hope for the best and perhaps put some down before winter time I am in zone 7a in Nashville, TN, wish me luck that they winter well, as they are my absolute favorite perennial!

    Purple lantana is green and produces flowers year round in Phoenix... butterflies flock around them... new gold tends get woody and stops flowering in winter so I stick with the purples... most soil in Phoenix is clay but I live on old farmland with south facing ... some of the more exposed lantana, the purple, is frost sensitive, but all my lantana growing near the house or otherwise protected is not affected by freezes... although we have not had a hard freeze in years... they get minimum daily water with drip system... although your technique is good if one does not have drip system... so far the purples are my favorite for their year round blooms in Phoenix area... I want to try this one and grow it into a tree

  • @stephenp1131986
    @stephenp1131986 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very well explained, it has helped alot especially with regards to over wintering. I live in UK this is almost unheard of here, (to grow Lantana as a herbaceous perennial), and in most places it wouldn't be feesible, but I planted one in a really dry, sunny microclimate.. it's now early April and although there is no sign of growth, I did the stem scratch test and the stem under is still solid and green, so remarkably these are likely to be deciduous this year rather than herbaceous... as yet we haven't had the warmth to trigger growth - currently in the high 50's low 60s territory. I hope it makes a quick comeback for a longer growing season. I'd normally expect these to re-emerge in May though here. (zone 9a winter minimum but only heat zone 2-3.)

    Hi HortiTube, My question is about sun. I live in north central Texas where it gets over 100 degrees F, cookie sheet weather. The humidity swings wildly from very high 80% to very low 18%. I'm brand new to lantanas. I bought a baby, only a twig with one flower cluster. Do I grow her in full sun all day or something a bit milder? Thank you for any advice you can provide.

    My lantana was growing very well in a pot, but I have moved it home recently before the first frost since I am in zone 5B.
    At home the leaves imediately started drying no amount of watering seems to help. I also sprinkle it with water since I though maybe the air is too dry. Still leaves continue to dry out. Do you know how I can save this beautiful plant?

      I live in the waco area now. Did live in houston for a while. I have one in my back yard and have come to the conclusion that the more you try to care for it, the less it likes it. I prune mine back in early to late spring and then walk away. Fertilizing minimally or not at all. Just make sure you plant it with the root ball slightly above ground level. Mine has rooted itself in a tree trunk and it does fine. It's really not a fussy plant. Exactly why I love it.
