    Finding niacinamide free barrier serum for dry dehydrated skin is so difficult 😢 i always left disappointed when i found a repair serum but then i saw niacinamide in the ingredient list.

    • @EmmaHacker-kj9un
      @EmmaHacker-kj9un 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I can use a low percentage of niacinamide but it’s in every product now. Since most percentages aren’t disclosed I’m left trying to avoid it in most products. I can’t wait for the trend to be over.

    • @ownsbytessa
      @ownsbytessa 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @EmmaHacker-kj9un not even a low percentage of niacinamide can spare my skin from that burning sensation that it caused 🥲 i genuinely wish the niacinamide trend will go away sooner. They're in every single products

      The torrid solid-in essence has no niacinamide. I have my eye on it as something to try if I need a little something extra when I start introducing tretinoin.

      Niacinamide causes skin to be dehydrated is it? I have combo to oily very dehydrated tight skin even if I put any skin care.. So what can we do to counteract the effect of low % niacinamide.. Can't help it almost all products has niacinamide

    • @ownsbytessa
      @ownsbytessa 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @emmagal14 idk how it affect other skin types and conditions but for my own skin, it burns. The skin around my forehead, nose and mouth area will turn red from the burning sensation. I know stop trying new skincare products because almost everything have niacinamide in it. I just stick to what i have now which is biore oil cleanser, eucerin ph 5 cleanser, avene thermal spring water, make prem toner, boj light on centella serum, boj retinal serum (this one has niacinamide in it but i only use it once a week so... i can handle that), isntree moist cream and LRP cicaplast baume.

    The I’m From licorice ampoule is the only serum/ampoule I’ve ever repurchased (4x now). It’s soothing, hydrating, and I find it keeps my reactive skin calm throughout the day. I noticed the most difference in brightness and some improved PIE/PIH after about 1 month.

    Thank you so much for this very informative video Kelly! I always look forward to your seasonal serums and moisturizers videos as these are products that I often have to switch throughout the year ! I currently use the Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica serum but I am really intrigued by the Bringgreen Cera Healer serum and would definitely want to try it. My combo/oily, dehydrated , sensitive and acne prone skin actually enjoys gel-to-creamy rather than watery-to-gel serums! :)

    My two favorite products currently are the Time Revolution First Essence by Missha and the Future Renew Serum by No 7. I know the first isn’t a serum but it has a serum texture to me. It has helped even my skin tone so much. The Future Renew serum has peptides and a Vit C derivative and is a gel. I have never used a gel Vit C before but I really enjoy it! No sting at all.

    if you could pick one for combo skin that is more oily and acne prone what would you suggest? I love the juicy plump look but most of those never help me with my actual skin care concerns. I want one for morning for under makeup after I exfoliate and then one to use before my cerave moisturizing cream but after I use retin-a. I am not irritated or dry as finally used to everything lol

    Hey Kelly! great topic and video! I wonder if you do one for spring/summer moisturizers? I saw some old ones of you on this topic but an update is always nice:) I don't like gel moisturizers and I wonder do you think BOJ Dynasty cream would be a good option for combo skin? I had it but forgot about it a bit:) I think it could be percect for summer?:)

    • @KellyDriscoll

      I like BOJ for combo skin! Nice gel/cream type of feel for warm weather. I was considering a hot weather moisturizer video this year but it's actually all repeat picks from last year's video so not very helpful! You mentioned the gel moisturizer video from 2022 but I'm not sure if you caught my summer moisturizer video from last year so linking in case you missed it: th-cam.com/video/jAybUnTG-Jw/w-d-xo.html
      I'll be doing some more hot weather skincare content, so stay tuned!

    What you said about the mugwort serum reminded me- just yesterday I was looking at a serum for discoloration from Cocokind that features chlorophyll. I thought, well what can that ingredient do for skin? It seems from the marketing claims that it optically reduces redness in this formulation, which makes sense. Cocokind also claims some antioxidant content for chlorophyll, though how much nobody knows! Thanks for the great video, Kelly.

    Hi Kelly- I always love your videos.. so informative!!! I have two questions if I may.. first, how do you know you have dehydrated skin, and second, would any of these serums be enough to use in the AM with just eye cream and sunscreen or would I need a moisturizer as well? thank you so much!!!

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dehydration is a tight feeling in your skin, for lack of a better word a dry feeling. HOWEVER it's not dry skin, it doesn't always manifest as flaky skin and can 100% happen when your skin is covered in oil. It's due to a weak or damaged moisture barrier. It's common to feel like your skincare isn't lasting between AM and PM routines because your skin feels tight.
      If you do have dehydrated skin I really suggest using a moisturizer, even a very light gel one. You need something to hug in your skincare and keep hydration in place which dehydrated skin already struggles to do.

    Have you tried the Inkey list Glucoside serum? I'm trying to find an alternative to Niod Modulating Glucoside and all the online stores in the Philippines are out of stock. 😢 The Aestura A cica 365 essence and Skin1004 probio cica serum worked well for me too for redness and inflammation.

    How does the Bringgreen compare to RNW’s ceramide serum in terms of effects on skin?

    • @Storm411z
      @Storm411z 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ooh that would be a good This or That! as they seem to have similar textures 🤔

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      RNW is much more moisturizing and a touch thicker, I think it brightens the skin more, and Bringgreen is way more hydrating and feels really soothing too when skin is dehydrated! I use my RNW more in the winter months now, if that helps.

    Kelly, if your skin is just naturally prone to redness even when it doesn’t feel irritated/inflamed at all, do soothing ingredients still help with that redness…?

    Is there anything you can recommend for redness caused by overheating and flushing? I am on a medication that has me constantly dealing with this, and aside from the sweating, my main gripe is my constantly red face (except for the white triangle around my nose and mouth). I keep a skin mist in my office fridge, but the cooling sensation ends as soon as it reaches skin temp. Are there options that cool the skin for longer? Without any occlusion, which makes everything worse?

    • @carriemeredith
      @carriemeredith 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have rosacea and deal with flushing, redness and feeling very hot. I'm obviously not Kelly, but here's what helps me. Ice rollers - keep several in the freezer and grab one and use as soon as you notice flushing coming on. Prequel Redness Reform serum - it's affordable and works well at keeping redness and facial heat to a minimum. Also, sheet masks kept in the fridge are incredibly soothing and cooling. The 10-20 minute contact time is the key. I'm From Mugwort and I'm From Rice, Round Lab Soybean and Etude Soonjung are all masks I personally find to be helpful for reducing heat but honestly any mask you love will work well.

    Hi Kelly! Excellent video as always 💙 Could you maybe do a video on the best “fire extinguisher” products? 🧯😅
    I’m talking like those go-to mists, toners, serums, masks, creams, even spf alternatives (like hats or visors?) for when your skin is absolutely ON FIRE-be it from pollutants like wildfire smoke, too much tret, or a bad reaction to a new product 🔥🫠 like those first-line products to apply that provide immediate relief when your skin is so sensitive it hurts to touch!
    My dermatologist started me on some 8% hydroquinone (plus other goodies) pads a couple weeks ago, and my skin is NOT adjusting quite like I thought it would 😞 I’ve got all the barrier care stuff down because as soon as I take a break for 2-3 days my skin is pretty much back to baseline, but MAN the skin under my eyes and around my nose and mouth get so red and sensitive!

      It absolutely does!! I found a fragrance free 13% zinc to rub on at night and yay finally! After 3 laser treatments and flight from moldy house, zinc on my red cheeks is now looking good! I'll take the small victories since the mold caused so far at least 2 auto immune conditions 🤦‍♀️🤣🙏
