Same here. I fast and eat one or two meals in the evening. Not eating breakfast or lunch has always been easy for me and having all of my calories in the evening satisfies that desire to consume a large meal.
Started with lean gains, now warrior. Also, just did a 42 hour fast, was easy; could’ve went longer and will next time. Just be clear, you still have to “eat clean” in the eating window no matter which system you use.

what did u do while intermittent fasting to lose 50lbs? i only ask because i too am doing intermittent fasting but im not sure what to incorporate in my workouts
@@keyaanmaxwell5700 I was about 203 lbs, lost 40 lbs in about 5 and a half months using IF... all I did was good diet, train 4x a week (including 3 sessions of cardio, for fat loss reasons), and then I slept well... I did cut out almost all carbs for about 2 months which saw my weight dropped like crazy. I have kept up intermittent fasting for about a year and a half now, just to keep my weight in check. Ive been doing the 16-8 fast for years and never even thought about it. I just didn't feel I needed any food upon waking up and ate my first meal at 12 midday. Just plenty of water. @@juniorponce6666 Honestly I don't count my calories. I make sure to eat enough till I'm full since I only eat 1 meal a day with hardly any snacking, 6 days a week. I'm 5'7 and was 203lbs, dropped down to 180lbs within 3-4 months. The key element is keeping your carb intake low, consume veggies with high protein. So example i grew up eating rice so now I only eat a scoop of rice instead of my usual 5-6 scoops. I was still able to gain muscle during this phase by eating lots of protein which helped with muscle growth and kept me full until my next meal. I dont take any protein shakes. You really have to find what works for you. I'd recommend looking up Dr. Fung, he's the Pioneer of fasting. My last advice is try cutting out all the soft drinks and junk food. You can still cheat once maybe twice a week but that depends on how much progess you want to lose or gain. I also drink 3 cans of flavored sparkling water every day which helps keep me full until my meal (zero calories, zero everything).

A ate mostly once a day for 5 days a week for years now. Sometime just 4 days. Mostly raw vegan. I think I m getting fat. For a year didn't go to gym and have hard muscle and need two wifes at 64 (maybe three).
I'm interested in the benefits of intermitent fasting but every morning when I wake up I feel I'm starving. I love having a huge breakfast and I can't imagine how I'd be able to go to the gym on an empty stomach. I feel I wouldn't be able to do it.
María Celeste There is a hormone called ghrelin, it is considered to be the hunger hormone. Ghrelin is also highly adaptable so if you for example started eating your breakfast at noon every day instead of at 9am, it will take ghrelin about one to two weeks to adjust to your new schedule and you won't be feeling hunger before noon after that adjustment period. EDIT: Important note, women are not advised to follow the 16h/8h fasting/eating schedule, but 14h/10h instead, because some slight hormonal changes have been noted in women doing the 16/8 program and while it is not certain that fasting was the culprit it is best to be on the side of caution. However this info is from when Iast researched the topic about 2 years ago so maybe some new conclusions have been reached in the meantime, feel free to do your own research.
Hey guys, I just came across your channel recently. Adam, when you incorporate fasting while trying to build muscle, are you lifting on the day(s) you fast? If so, do you break the fast pre or post training? Love the videos I've seen so far! Thanks for the great content.
You know when I was younger I fasted all week M-F and ate what I wanted on the weekends and I was in perfect shape. Go figure I just did it so I could have what I wanted on the weekend. I think now the first fasting method you mention would be best for me at my age now. Thanks for your informative videos.
So for us early AM workout people, what would be an acceptable post workout meal if I am technically in a Fast till about 1PM? or is that a plus to not eat after a workout? Thanks
here's the problem I have: I've been fasting for years. On most gays I have been 18 hours fated and 6 hours not ( or the so called eating window!). When I began working out, however, everything told me to add more calories for weight gain and to get a significantly higher amount of protein. So let's take your lean 16 hour plan for example. How in the world do you get the protein requirement of someone working to build muscle all in 8 hours???? I'm a small person and my protein needs are only 74 grams a days.I cant comprehend eating enough food to get 74 grams of protein in 8 hours!! Please advise?
Im just a bit speechless after watching this video. Ive decided to keep my comments about the things you said, to myself. Only because ive learned a large amount of informative, and SAFE information on the many other videos Mind Pump have made. Hope you guys get back to what is best for all of us. Looking forward to them.
I dont remember saying the information they provided was inaccurate. Im saying, in a nutshell, I dont see or understand how starving the body of food can be beneficial. I listened to their explanation as to what they think the benefits are. I just dont agree or see it. After 3 hours i really need to eat a small amount. Im eating probably 1700 calories or less a day. I dont see the point of intermittent fasting, whatsoever. Im loosing fat, gaining muscles. Isnt that the goal?
Yes they failed to mention individuality in this video. Everyone will respond differently and if what you are doing is working well for you and you are feeling great, then stick to that. Not everyone will feel good with fasting, but for many it is a great practice.
Nutrition is at the same time more complicated and more simple than what we've been "taught" in our lives. I put that word under quotation marks because we haven't really been taught anything and a lot of things are simply inherent knowledge at best or hearsay and old wives tales at worst. For example did you know that it doesn't actually matter how many times a day we eat as long as we take enough nutrients and energy? In fact if you have a tendency to have teeth issues (cavities) then it's better to eat fewer times a day, while on the other hand if you have acid reflux issues then it's better to eat smaller meals more times a day. The whole fasting and starvation subjects is very interesting from a biochemical standpoint and I'd urge you to do some research yourself, all what I said can be found on PubMed and other medical research websites.
Good video guys, and I was super glad to hear you talk about the fact that it's not ideal for maximal muscle growth. There's clearly some health benefits that come from fasting and I agree I can definitely help with appetite and satiety as well when you do eat. Definitely though if your main goal is to build muscle you do you want to be making sure to have protein at least 2 to 4 times a day. I'm probably the same as Adam where I incorporate a fast occasionally, maybe wants to max twice a week. All the best you guys and thanks for the content!
If you eat once a day approximately every 24 hrs it is hard to do for the first five day but than it becomes easy to starve and it feels good but after a few weeks your energy finally breaks down.
Have any of the Mind Pump team tried 12-hour fasts? I think I heard it on either Joe Rogan Experience or The Art of Manliness podcast. The guest was talking about intermittent fasting, and recommended eating one meal in the morning, fasting 12-hours, eating a meal in the evening, and then fasting 12-hours at night, to include your sleep period. Just curious.
I tried 16:8 fir a month and all I got is that my metabolism slowed down and my trash can (belly) poped out like a was 3 months pregnant. Intermittent fasting is not good for bulking.
so how does one fit in a tough workout (heavy lift, or crossfit) around these eating windows? should we break fast right before, or right after working out?
Hi guys, thanks for explaining different kinds of fast but can u also help us out in ways one should break their fast? I've seen with myself that breaking fast with simple sugars or carbs actually made me gain fat rather than an alternate approach of breaking fast with low GI foods or Vegetables n protein.... Maybe this equates to what u call "relationship with food"
I'm 5'7" 160 lbs and after 16 hours of fasting I'm typically so hungry I can eat pretty large meals every 2 hours. Can't tell you exactly how many calories because I don't have a food scale but all the ingredients of my prep meals are whole foods and with plenty of protein and healthy carbs. After losing 35 lbs my weight leveled off and now I just continue to get leaner. Think I could bulk if I added one more meal and cut the amount of time I fast down to 14 hours?
Can anyone show met some human studies proving this works? I can only find studies showing it works on mice.. And studies showing that calorie restriction and fasting have the same fatloss benefits.
Agoge Diet really took my diet to the next level. Not only diet, but life. I can see improvements in many aspects of my life. Guys, you rock! #Agoge Diet
The biggest problem with these bodybuilders/fitness people that try to teach you how to build muscle or lose fat is that majority of them are on gear (steroids) and a lot of people do not know that 1/3 of American active males are on gear, so when that 2/3 of people that have no clue, look at that Men's Health front page at your grocery store and think what am I doing wrong, why do I not look like that they turn to these videos. With that said, looking at these two "gurus" that are on point about dieting and keeping low body fat are for some reason not shredded because of their gear and water retention. These videos give good info and what these guys are telling you is correct but their chemical build is completely different from your average joe. A person on steroids can fast for weeks, as long as they take multivitamins their muscle will not break down because of all the testosterone and HGH, this is how bodybuilders get shredded before the competition. People need to come clean on steroids, the bodybuilding industry needs to come clean, all the supplements, protein shakes and all of that other bs crap they sell is for those people that have no idea that steroids exist.
What do you mean by "eat all your food" when you say you have to eat all your foot in that 8 hour period? The same with the warrior diet. when you are in your eat window, how much are you supposed to be eating? Are you trying to eat your whole day's worth of food in that window?
yes you can. it is even better that way since it will keep your hgh high until you eat meaning you get more anabolic results. if you are really worried about muscle wasting (which shouldn't occur due to the rise of hgh) you can take some amino acids before your workout
MOST NORMAL PEOPLE WILL NOT EAT THOUSANDS OF CALORIES IN A 4 HOUR WINDOW SO DON`T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF SITTING DOWN AND EATING FOR 4 OR 8 HOURS. YOU CAN EAT ALL YOU NEED (NOT ALL YOU WANT LOL) WITHIN 1 HOUR.
You make eat stop eat sound more difficult than it really is. It’s just 24 hour fast. So stop eating at dinner one day and don’t eat again until dinner the next day stop at 6pm and start at 6 pm the next day. So you don’t have to go a day without actually eating anything.
Yeah, I'd prefer a 36-40hr fast once a week so that whole day you don't eat and break the fast the next morning or noon. A 36 hour fast is actually pretty manageable if you can do 24hr.
+Mind Pump TV does the fasting include the intake of fluids as well. What do you think about protein shake meal replacements for breakfast & lunch and then have a meal for dinner?
I was having a pizza with my friend when he said he was on a diet and pizza is his regular cheat meal and part of diet plan he got from Agoge Diet. I thought he was crazy, but after a month I noticed his body has changed a lot. He looked better than ever. I should really visit that website

Bojan Veselinovich “You who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may be mindful of God.” - Quran 2:183 Yes my brother you are right! The only difference is that fasting Ramadan in Islam is one of the pillars of Islam, it is a must condition not a volunteer unless the person is severely sick, pregnant! Peace be upon you! 🌷
avesh narainpersath You are right my dear! But the difference is that Ramadan is fasting 30 days straight with no break! That continuous fasting has a wisdom and does wonder to our bodies, since Allah knows the benefit of it to humanity, it is one essential pillar of Islam!

so how does one fit in a tough workout (heavy lift, or crossfit) around these eating windows? should we break fast right before, or right after working out?
After. And i've heard that it might be better to wait a bit (approx 90 min) post-hard-workout before eating...
You need to know that even if 16/8 may be good, coming out of it may be tricky as probability of overeating is high there.
Should we drink water during the fast you didnt really say anything abt that?
Yes, water is the only thing u can have.
Anything other than water, will take u off your fast.. even chewing a piece of gum.
Been watching the podcast for a while and only found this channel now? 🤔🤔🤔
The TH-cam algorithm is F***ED.
What actually counts as breaking a fast? If I had a preworkout supplement during my fast would that break the fast?
Peter Vanden Branden As a guideline you can consider that a 50 kcal intake "breaks" a fast.
Yes
14 hours is not Intermittent fasting
Let’s fast
Can anyone show met some human studies proving this works? I can only find studies showing it works on mice.. And studies showing that calorie restriction and fasting have the same fatloss benefits.
can you drink coffee during the fasting window? thinking about trying the eat stop eat
Black coffee
And zero monsters lol I have a high acid stomach so can’t do the coffee
I do caffeine pills.
Agoge Diet really took my diet to the next level. Not only diet, but life. I can see improvements in many aspects of my life. Guys, you rock! #Agoge Diet
Okay ISSA BIG MON TING 🚫🧢💪💪💯
Is this true?
Adam I just saw a video WoWw. Thanks
How much calories should you eat when you're fasting??
120% of your BMR
What do you mean by "eat all your food" when you say you have to eat all your foot in that 8 hour period? The same with the warrior diet. when you are in your eat window, how much are you supposed to be eating? Are you trying to eat your whole day's worth of food in that window?
Yes your whole days worth of food is what you want to eat. Then you do not eat.
Yep. That's the idea. Just don't eat garbage...only quality calories.
But Cumstein, does being mgtow help your gains?
Soo good
cool love your guy's channel
also can you still train empty like first thing in the morning if your fasting? cause i train at 5am and won't eat until 12pm to start my hour window
yes you can. it is even better that way since it will keep your hgh high until you eat meaning you get more anabolic results. if you are really worried about muscle wasting (which shouldn't occur due to the rise of hgh) you can take some amino acids before your workout
Dude I pooped my pants when I saw the thumbnail, while adam looks like he's trying to poop his pants hahahaha
Adam is a fucking monster but Sal is THE MAN!
Can you drink water on the full day fast?
yes
Steven Cortes yes; that’s the only thing you can have when you’re fasting.
Thank you bros.
Can I workout fasted ?
Can you?
Can you make a video on how to lose the flabby arms and thighs?? :( Thank and God bless!
You don't want to lose your arms and thighs
Gotta tone em up pushups, curls, squats, resistence bands, running
Relationship with food...?
I'm fasting because I broke up with food.
+Mind Pump TV does the fasting include the intake of fluids as well. What do you think about protein shake meal replacements for breakfast & lunch and then have a meal for dinner?
Hi
16-8 how many times a week bro?
Everyday.
Guy sounds like Joe Rogan
Deep bros!
I'm not your Brah

I really pray you guys go search Islam!
that's why God "Allah" the creator prescribed to humankind to fast one month a year called Ramadan and also we are encouraged by the teaching of the prophet Muhammed( pbup) to fast every Mondays and Thursday as a way of life!! Islam is the only sophisticated religion that matches all science and modern discovery and that is the miracle of Islam! Thank you 😊
No need, I am orthodox Christian and I fast to we started way before Muslims but thx anyway.
All Pagan Religions Have Fasting , And These Religions Are 3000 years older than islam
Yeah I’m fasting rn
Bojan Veselinovich “You who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may be mindful of God.”
- Quran 2:183
Yes my brother you are right!
