I get the bees from next doors hive in mine every day there active. Bee sure to put a stick of wood in the bird bath so the stragglers dont drown and can climb out on something :-)
I’m in outer east, Dandenong Ranges, no damage to our property but ses have done a great job clearing the trees that were blocking roads. Have a few neighbours with power out until Friday. I planted my seed last week so fingers crossed but I have strawberries in my grow pod and they are all flowering and fruit is appearing. My chooks only came out yesterday to free range since the winds, they loved it.
Your garden really has come back to life after the pests had their feed. Up here in far East Gippsland I have peas and beans going nutso and quite a few have not made it inside!! hahaha
ive been watching your videos for a while now Christie, theyve been really helpful to me as a fellow gardener in Melbourne! Good luck with kindie fundraising :)
North region, all my leafy veg got smashed by the hail & winds, torn right through almost every leaf even thicker collards. Other things fought with what protection I could give them... bit frustrating but knew it was coming!
@ChristieCooper no - just crossing my fingers because like you said with the warmish weather everything still seems to be sprouting and having a crack!
Hey Christie, love your channel, I'm in Penrith and the wind has been up to 60kms and twice last week 30 and 32 deg days a shock i wasnt really for that type of heat seedlings didnt like it much
Hi christie i bought the square shaped container from bunnings and transplanted some seedlings into it. How do you water them in that container? I tried from top but the seedlings fall over and dont have a tray big enough for bottom watering
@ChristieCooper they're radish so a bit delicate. I tried using a watering can with shower head but it's too powerful. Container turns out is too heavy to lift for bottom watering, so I think I'll try another way to top water with a pressure sprayer that is usually used for herbicide
Definitely! Most veggies will grow well in pots as long as they’re deep. Now you can do carrots, beetroot, lettuces, peas, and a few weeks as soon as there’s no more chance of overnight frost, you can get all your summer veggies in - tomatoes, capsicum, zucchinis etc.
Good upload Christie
I love the joy I get when my seedlings appear and then put on the true leaves. I hope I’ll never lose the feeling😊
It’s a bit like a wholesome addiction / dopamine hit, isn’t it!
@@ChristieCooperMrs Bucket vacuuming the seedlings😊😊( teasing)
I’m noticing LOTS of bees drinking from my birdbath … I’ve never seen them mob like this before. Strange weather we’re having in Melbourne.

Interesting! Wonder if you’ve got a new hive in the neighbourhood too? I wish we had more bees! Instead we get inundated with wasps when it’s warm 👎🏼
Strange weather in ADL too... Definitely nothing to do with the "contrails" . 😆

The SES have been working overtime - agree doing such a fab job! Glad your place held up ok 😥

Yiew! What sort of beans? Mine rarely make it inside, they’re so good fresh!
@@ChristieCooper The beans would be Redlands Pioneer Stringless Bush Beans and with the peas I have Blue Bantam; both for flavour!! YUMMO!!
Now I know what to do with the spoons from the Costco sized box of cutlery!
Wooden spoons are the best! So many uses 😂

Glad you’ve enjoyed them and thanks for the lovely feedback! Good luck with your garden! Let’s hope that wind doesn’t come back 😊
It’s crazy weather atm. I’m in Essendon, our new Colorbond back fence took a hit and broke two windows as well . Side note, my beetroot seeds are UP!
Oh no! Bet that was scary if you were home at the time! Nightmare. Great news about the beets!
Started to watch your channel. Good work.
Welcome! Hope you enjoy it ☺️

Oh how devastating 😥 I hope it grows back quickly!! Or have you pulled it all out?
@ChristieCooper no - just crossing my fingers because like you said with the warmish weather everything still seems to be sprouting and having a crack!
I was always told Nov to pick garlic
I recon that sounds more likely for mine too! They look like they’ve still got a good bit of growing to do.

Thanks for the lovely feedback! Yikes, hopefully it just makes the seedlings stronger and more weather resistant in the long run!
Love rhe update. Thank you. How big are your pots with the chilli and capsicum plants?
The ones outside? From memory 30cm x 30 ☺️

I top water, what sort of seedlings are in there? I’d just water the soil around the seedlings and try avoid getting the seedlings too damp.

Hey new to the channel and also in Melbourne
Quick question, am i still good to start planting in pots? And what would br good to plant now

@ChristieCooper awesome thank you for the fast response, plan on getting a few things planted this weekend with the little one 😁
