Very nice video....only just noticed your using an old-school tube TV for video output so definitely good for people still without a HD TV. It does allow for HDMI out and I am using it with a HDMI home theater projector I got at Walmart so if you have a HD Antenna you can save money not only getting local news and network shows but a cheap way to PVR them.
I'm not even sure if that feature is in the TV box. I have so few channels maybe 16 so I find that's not enough to make a favorites list. Although it'd be nice to have one for works most of the time and another list for Works some of the time
Channel 7-1 is a CBS station that also is affiliated with the Fox TV channel, and is carrying the Fox network as a sub channel. WSYT-TV is also a Fox affiliate
The booklet included did not include a lot of information. The Aluratek web page does not even have this device listed. I wanted to know how to take out channels that I did not watch
You can take your recordings with you. The .mts files will play on other devices. Using an OTG usb cable, I can play them on an LG G4 at my workplace. They can also be played back on virtually any Homeworx or Homeworx clone (Using the same software menus). Also, vice-versa. They will also playback on PC/Laptops, Raspberry Pis via Kodi/VLC & others.
Mine isnt even 2 months old and would work fine now its just stays stuck on the aluratek pink display screen goes black and over and over before it started acting up the channels would appear after the display

Do you think there is a way to hook this up to a VHS VCR to digitally record the playback? I guess the question is, will it recognize Ch. 3 NTSC? I believe it allows NTSC to pass through, but does it see it in any other way?
The problem I run into is with my SanDisk 32GB when I record a program and when I go to play the program picture tends to pixelate do you know if there's a reason why this does it I also have a 3.0 2 terabyte external hard drive it says it does not recognize this device. Do you know what might cause this.

Red & white are left and right audio. Yellow is video. Use the HDMI output if at all possible. Much better quality video (HDTV capable) and HDMI also passes audio. So most people do not use those red, white and yellow outputs. You may choose to use the red & white (left and right audio) in conjunction with the HDMI if you want to pump audio out to a separate amplifier and your TV does not offer that option.
Thanks, but mine does not do that it’s not an alutetek it’s a Homeworks and they use the exact same remote control but I can hit record and it starts recording and there’s a yellow dot flashing on the top of my screen but when I hit record again it doesn’t change
Clear QAM is mostly a thing of the past. The major cable companies have scrambled all the signals and you need an adressable box(at least in the U S). I am sure it may be the same in Canada but i am only guessing.
I'm confused. I was googling for dvr sets so I can record some of my favorite TV shows so I wouldn't miss any of them (I have comcast cable) and see this product. Then I see in its description that it helps with picking up more channels for an antenna and also records said channels. So is it only compatible with an antenna? Or can I use it to record my shows that I get with cable?
It can But most cable company's encrypt there channels so you need a Proprietary Cable box that they like to charge a at least $5 monthly fee. This is more for people who watch TV using a Antenna.

@@rickosman5100 It's not actually a pass thru. The COAX OUT is just a way to connect the output of the box, like the HDMI and RCA jacks to your TV channel 3. The only way you can see the coax out as a thru put is if the box is OFF.

Yes, it works exactly like a converter box. If you have a new TV that works without a cable box with your current cable provider, i.e. your ISP has QAM channels, then this box will find those channels as well. So you can use an old TV that doesn't do QAM with this converter box.

There is 3 ways to do that. Depends on the TV if it is a older tv you use the audio video cables to a video input. Or you can use a coax cable and use the output on then Aluratek or you can get a HDMI cable (not included) (Dollar Store!) to connect to you modern HDTV. The video out = cvbs!

Is your usb hard drive a MBR (Master boot Record) drive? I tried 3 GPT (GUID Partition Table) drives and it never was able to boot properly with those. I also tried a number of different thumb drives and a SD Card, none them recorded properly for 1080p. But they did work with 720p or lower resolution stations. This was annoying since I primarily record Global 27 out of Coburg.
@@RobbieStrike As it turned out that type of drive did not work for me. But I was using a USB 3 dock. Now I realize the SD card reader on a thumb drive is working fine. But it still refuses to record Global 27 out of Coburg. Now I primarily use it for PBS and Fox, both which are 1080i (interlaced). The drive was a one terabyte MBR drive, I suppose the USB 3 dock could have been the problem but it is USB 2 compatible.

Yeah you can do that. Just have to have a video editor that can read the files. It recorded them as mpeg-2 so they're rather large. But in the editor you can encode it to h.264. compress it over half of the megabytes down. MP4

i am just starting my journey I just bought a ematic(at walmart) and ordered the mediasonic homeworx from amazon. mediasonic is smaller than yours or ematic. the alurtek and ematic are possibly the same box altho the mediasonic is smaller it has same remote and UI looks the same. that said the recievers pick up very well, I dont care much for the DVR function it is very clunky. Pause/timeshift you lose CC. and the remotes SUCK. I probably wont use these long I plan on getting a tablo quad

Here in the states most cable providers use the QAM system.. It works... But it’s a big pain in the ass when setting up.

If you're using COAX make sure you select Cable, if you're using an OTA antenna, be sure to select AIR.

I have the same problem. I wonder if a different USB would work better. The recordings distort even if the channels are clear.

Hit the TIMER button, it allows you to choose the start/end time for the recording.

It's 2022 and I get QAM from my cable provider. In fact I cancelled my cable but the QAM channels still come thru.

If you can view channels from your cable company on your TV now, without a cable box, you can use this box to record the same channels.

for 1080 i record with a usb 2 drive that has a power supply was always fast enough!
