Only see him getting hit once and not exiting
Gedalyah Reback it said in extra innings he exited.
It's deceptive to put it in the title and not in the video. In fact, stupid.
T.R. Ryan I agree
He exited the game off camera
He also only got hit once, not twice. Which is also deceptive.
Umpire should've walked to 1st base with that hit
I like how the catcher & pitcher isn't concerned about the ump
Aren't concerned.
@@MrDeterioration you are the WORST kind of person
@@brownie_shenandoah please elaborate.
@@MrDeterioration you’re a great person
The catcher ducked his head. And then both catcher and pitcher, and batter, all just ignore him. Amazing.
Thr pitcher and catcher didn't even care he got hit. they ignored him
Slimy behavior
Mlb going for the click bait....
It's amazing how many comments begin with "I".
I caught until the age of 14 and even at those slow speeds when you get hit in the mask it rocks your world..
Always wondered how that felt 😅
I caught into my mid 20s and took a foul ball to the mask once. That was 1 too many times for me.
RIGHT!!!!!!!!
@@Mvaughn941 And that was not major league baseball, 100 Miles per hour balls! I can imagine such severe hits to the head can cause long time injuries to the brain and neck, etc.
Strike zone just got smaller
Exactly.
Hamilton showed bunt late and it interfered with Posey's line of sight; you can tell he couldn't see it cuz he tried to get a better look and then ducked at the last second
You lose your line of sight when you duck and point the top of your helmet at the pitcher. lol - line of sight. ha ha
Hard to interfere with line of sight when the catcher is looking straight down at the ground, isn't it?
Till this day I think Buster Posey gives us the beyond definition of cold shoulder
The ball was still live. He had to try and track it down. After that the medical staff was over tending to him. He wasn’t going to go get in the way.
He’s doing his damn job
You know nothing about posey then lmao
I’m not even a Giants fan but Buster Posey one of the most genuine players. The reason he didn’t check right away on the ump was because he lost the ball and play was still live
Did you see the video of Bryce Harper getting intentionally hit by pitch and Buster Posey was the only one who didn’t jump into the brawl
@@mateohinojosa3025 I do remember that, the team at the time was going through a weird patch but still trying to contend, yet Strickland is out here continuing beefs that happened over two years prior. Posey didn’t join in because strickland told him to let Bryce charge if he does, so posey did. He also had that terrible leg injury that probably made him prone in situations like that, so it’s best for him to avoid any rapid physical altercations. The whole team kinda felt like hunter was being a clown, which made me feel bad for the dude, but it also makes you realize he made a whole clubhouse somewhat dislike him.
Not one player even attempted to help him, very low rent!
Planned twice. . but of course nothing done..no fines..no nothing
Pretty bad!
There was a time when umpires held in front of them a large padded protector. This injury would have never happened if he had that.
As a catcher I've taken a ticked fast pitch to the mask. I heard bells for a long time.
I forget the actors name, but Randazzo looks like the guy that played Babe Ruth in Sandlot
Art Lafleur, I think.
What day is it today ? Umpire=September Dr=your good play ball
You're*
I have umpired for the last 11 years, and I cannot even Imagine what that first hit feels like. Late 2019 I took a metal bat to the face on the wrap around from the batter. He lost grip and the bat shot straight into my mask. It's the hardest I've ever been struck.
Thank goodness that pitch wasn't an inch or two lower, and snuck between the mask and the chest protector. It blows my mind that some of these MLB umps do not wear a throat protector. Nutty.
That catcher might have been criminally liable. Pretty obvious when you watch the replay in normal speed. Slow it down and it shows a brand new little league player that never caught before getting behind the plate. Did they suspend the catcher for a month or so? They should have.
@@robertbrown6879 with a pitch that fast any mis communication with the catcher could result in a miss like that happens all the time
OUCH!!!!
Watching this in slow motion isn’t conclusive. Regardless, it certainly is a bad look when Posey doesn’t say anything to the umpire when Posey returns to his position behind home plate.
Dooownn goes frazier!!!
It’s called a receipt, and we need more of these the way the umps are this season
Love how the players just leave the poor guy unattended
That UMP is a unit dude
I know buster had to find the ball but damn after ward makes you wonder if he let the ball go by intentionally
There is NO wondering about it. It is on video. Watch it at .25 speed. Where is the catcher looking as he raises his mitt. He made it look good so that in real time it may not look like he intentionally missed that pitch. The other thing I wonder about is why did he hop over like he's a teenage catcher?
Ummmm...am I missing something or did the Ump only get hit once?? Oh and the box score says they're only in the top of the 5th too
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, was motioning both players when this occurred.
These days they know better than to intentionally throw at anyone let alone the umpire. The biggest protection umpires had since the 70's is the catcher when they used the outside protector. Both leagues finally went to the inside protector. When you have professional catchers you can do that.
I don't like how the pitcher and the catcher aren't concerned about the umpire.
guy in scoring position
Satisfying.. Justice serve..
And Posey just walks to the pitchers mound like a jerk and doesn't check on the ump.
Obviously Posey was trying to find the ball. He never noticed the ump was hurt until he was surrounded by medical staff and the other umps. 🙄
@@danvan318I’m pretty sure he knew the ump got nailed and was laying on the ground
@@bernardhsu8331 I'm pretty sure too because the video shows he let the umpire get hit on purpose.
Thanks a lot, Buster!
This needs to happen way more often to send a message to the umpires to try getting the calls, right
Hit by pitch means he should go be ump at first base.
Second hit was so fast the video missed it!
Is the ball ok?
Soccer lmao you have no idea how bad a baseball hurts when it hits you. Soccer 😅
Damn.
Where’s the second hit and exit?
@0:05 it's good to know the player has his priorities straight, and I mean that sincerely.
Too bad MLB couldn't spend a few more dollars to hire a proper video editor who had enough sense to include the clip of the second time the ump got hit and exited the game. After all MLB is a billon dollar industry
Surprised Angel Hernandez not hit more
What was on the ground behind the plate that the Catcher was looking at? Did he think the ball was in the dirt when he raised his mitt. No, that crapper knew exactly what he was doing.
How often do you comment on this video?
Ouch.
That umpire knows how to keep his eye on the ball, and nose.
Well that's one way to get back at the umpire for making bad calls. 😅😅
never seen an ump flop before
92 MPH pitch to the face?
How about you take that?
Couldn’t do much brain damage...
ITS SCOTT STERLING!!!!!
Chrisrebar, you probably never played sports in your life. These are all professional men.
If I were Randazzo I'd worry more about my BMI and not a fast ball.
STOP THE CAP IT WAS ONLY ONCE
The players should have completely moved their attention to the umpire. In fact, this is pretty disgusting. Major league baseball players don’t deserve to be paid like they are and then turns away to a human being who is in trouble
Not their job...
Have you seen the way umps treat players lol
Looks like that Manager was doing everything he could to keep his pitcher from being ejected.
Buster going for the ball😂. Good for him. Screw that Vegas stooge disguised as an umpire
Bad calls equal busted teeth...
Any questions ?
Lol exactly
Any evidence of "bad calls?" The pitcher and catcher mess up their jobs all the time, yet umps are expected to be 100% perfect?
I call them “blackout shots” ya hope catcher got cha back
"shouldn't have been standing there"
Must have been calling a bad game.
It is disappointing to see pitchers and catchers who lack these human qualities. It makes me hate that team.
No pain no game😮
How can you call balls and strikes if you can’t see the ball???
I particularly like that catcher not looking back to see or offer any help to the umpire. it's like the umpire didn't even exist once the catcher got his hand on the ball. Just sweep that mass out of the batting box and let's get on with it.
I wonder if the strike zone was more favorable to the pitcher thereafter
WE ARE THAT,,,,, TOUGH WE HAVE TO BE TO GET HIT AND KEEP GOING TO GET THE GAME IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better start calling the game fairly.
You don't think you're going to get hit because you have the best catchers in the world catching. In this case the catcher missed on purpose. Obviously. On purpose to hurt the umpire.
Hit twice? I only saw one
Thank God ump was wearing the protective mask
Why couldnt this have been angel hernandez or joe west
I know it's a live game but... a human is hurt and the closest person to him is trained to continue PLAYING a GAME. Programmed.
i'm a 3 sport interscholastic official. injuries do not end a live ball play.
He continues with the play because he knows medical personnel are able to handle it.
I was a catcher (DII) and an umpire and both can be dangerous in their own right. I agree that players add trained to keep playing but I’ve never seen such disregard for another human being on the field.
I know they got their signals crossed and Posey wasn’t expecting the pitch up there but he ducked....and when he saw the umpire face down, even after he had the ball and the play was dead, he didn’t even attempt to look like he was concerned. The pit acher and catcher are the only ones that know what pitches are coming and what spot they’re supposed to hit so after DUCKING and leaving the umpire motionless on the ground, I am just floored. Reminded me of when he stood by when a batter charged the mound, going after his pitcher. Watch Yadi Molina or Willson Contreras for examples of how to stand up for your teammates while still being compassionate for everyone out there while doing your job.
That's just KARMA for all the bad calls and throwing players out of the game! hahahahahahahahah
Do your Fing job Posey. If the ump wasn't going his he would hear it.
It took 4 seconds for Posey to find the ball and that's when play was halted. Posey especially never turned around and Cueto couldn't care less
He didn't need to turn around. It was a setup if I've ever saw one.
Looks to me like the ump should be called out for violating the pitch clock.
Nice pitch
Is that still a live ball?
Cincinnati Reds 🔴 vs. San Francisco Giants 🌉
Give the ump a shot of whiskey he'll shake it off.
This ump reminds me of Art Lafleur from Field of dreams.
They set blue up.
The umpire plays defense for both teams.
Multiple times ive seen this with buster Posey and he acts nonchalant
I mean...are they ALL swallowing their chew spit?
Isn't that why we have umpires? To help the catcher on pass balls
Nice git them gastapo guard
The lack of concern by the catcher that caused his injury was disgusting to me.
Unless he didn't see the ump go down? but the pitcher did. Cold.
He didn't cause anything. The batter squaring to bunt blocked his view, by the time he saw the pitch it was past his glove pretty much.
It hit the u shaped steel neck protector under the mask driving it upwards..
So Posey doesn’t even check on ump? Hmmmm 😵
Twice? Why only show once
Should've called time out
I love this
Your title is misleading.
Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...
Too soon
Buster Posey glove be like "ight imma head out"
Twice?
If a ump gives bad calls this is what he deserves
If someone makes bad calls they should be assaulted?
@@rickhaavisto9023 If they do it on purpose, YES!
Everyone talks about how good a guy posey is...
No compassion with all their money.
Two strike no balls
Umpires have way to much power. It takes away from the game.
You have it exactly backwards my friend. From now on, have games without umpires. It will not be a baseball game.
You know nothing about baseball and umpiring. It shows.
7
Bros acting like he got shot.
Strike 3!!! Your out!!!
@Paul Kryder don’t be dumb
Payback for all the f'ed up calls?
The catcher couldn't see the ball with the hitter showing bunt. Hidden behind the bat.
