Pink Floyd has a lot of albums that are really good and really different from each other. So fans have different favorites. But to your personal preference comments, there's no question what the most iconic, most famous, and most revered album is. That's Dark Side of the Moon. Fans can argue with valid viewpoints about which one is best, but Dark Side of the Moon stands alone, in time and space.
It's a real joy to watch a young person discover music I have been listening to my whole life. Stick with us old guys. There is an ocean of fantastic music out there we can recommend. Enjoy the journey.
A little background, the Very early Pink Floyd was started by Sid Barret, who did too much acid in the 60's and sort of lost his mind and was never the same. The band left him behind, out of necessity, since he was lost inside his hown head. But a lot of the songs refelct the effect on the band of Sid Barret's brain damage, his lunacy, and his living death. Some of the later Floyd songs like "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Wish You Were Here" were specifically and transparently about Sid Barret's experience, and the bands feeling about him. But Sid's influence, both musically and emotionally are all over this bands music. He was their silent muse., Never to reach the sun, only seen on the Dark Side of the Moon. RIP Sid Barret.
The first time I heard this album was when I was just sixteen. My dad drove me to the nearest music store to buy the CD. He didn't tell me anything about it (despite the fact that he was the one to introduce me to Pink Floyd.) I had my trusty Sony Discman with brand new batteries and put the CD in the player just waiting for that signature David Gilmour drop after waiting for what felt like forever; and just got lost in the music for the rest of the long ride home. Amazing memory; and just posting this makes me really miss my dad.
Pink Floyd has been described as a “man’s band”. They play man’s music. The lyrics are deep, strong, dealing with hard subjects. They don’t do love songs, but the music goes to the heart.
Pink Floyd is timeless... it's always amazing to watch young YT reactors that only listen to rap / hip-hop, and then someone convinces them to listen some Pink Floyd... and then, that reactor's whole world gets turned upside down when they realize what they have been missing. And, I don't just mean Pink Floyd, there are so many amazing classic rock bands out there that you will enjoy!
🔶Shine On You Crazy Diamond🔶 is a nine-part composition written by David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. It was first performed on Pink Floyd's 1974 French tour and appeared on their 1975 album Wish You Were Here. The song is a tribute to Barrett, who left the band in 1968 due to mental health issues.❤
In addition to this! While he had stopped showing up to some practices and was sometimes purposefully antagonistic to voice his desire to leave the band, the band claims to have unceremoniously "fired" him by deciding not to pick him up for practice one day, and never getting him again, leaving him to his own devices. When they were writing SoYcD a few years later, they genuinely had no clue what happened to him; until he showed up one day to their studio session bald, many pounds heavier, and mentally gone. They couldn't recognize him at first- their own former band leader. When they did, they wept.
Its fucking epic in concert. Saw Brit Floyd last year and they do the full light show and sound identical to Floyd. This song was hypnotizing in person
@@bradkirchhoff5703 I have seen Brit Floyd several times and every show was incredible!! They are so very close to seeing the real thing. I saw Pink Floyd several times as well and I was very pleasantly surprised by Brit Floyd!
He's keeping it real so far. Like most of you, apparently, I have heard this music, countless times, stoned. And like a lot of you, we know the difference between high and not high, and this dude, to quote a Philosopher, is stoned "to the bejeesus belt," and this music is relentless. So what we're seeing is real, and the reaction video genre has appeared, blossomed, and now theres a lot of "performative" reaction. Getting really stoned, in these strange days of the future, is a seal of authenticity. What's not to like about this, fellow geezers? I dreamed of a day such as this, as I saturated a towel with fabric softener for the scent and shoved it into the dorm room door gap, and blew through paper filters out a window. Nutty stuff. This is freedom, and Im not sure how long its gonna hang around, so, for the record, bring on the stoned reaction videos, but the bar has been set pretty high, so to speak. Stay true dude. No cap, I think.
This is my favorite album ever, equally as good as DSOTM. There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing someone who likes this, experience it for the first time. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Sending good vibes ✌️
Another great reaction Bro - great to see folks experiencing PF for the first time and dropping down their rabbit hole. This album, Wish You Were Here, for me is their best. They were all at a loss as to what to come up with after the incredible success of Dark Side Of The Moon, and found it very difficult for quite a while, but were being pushed and bullied by the record label to produce something. So, it's mainly about the alienation and separation that they were feeling generally, and this extended back to Syd Barrett with their incredible bookend pieces of the album, Shine On You Crazy Diamond. They are Richard Wright's crown jewels (his synth work), and Nick Mason's drumming was so complimentary. Amazing tributes both musically and lyrically to Syd. Welcome To The Machine and Have A Cigar are both about the music industry's greed and use of the band's success for themselves. The album cover reflects this with a handshake deal being made by two men, one of them on fire, getting burnt. Enjoy the rest of the PF journey.
You´re on a perfect journey. It´s time to also watch them Live, because they were the biggest Liveband ever. Please watch "COMFORTABLY NUMB Live Pulse 1994" and also "ECHOES Live in Pompeii 1971/72" (btw: they´re in the hall of fame since 1996).
The last few notes of this album is Richard Wright playing a snippet of melody from “See Emily Play” which is a composition Syd Barrett wrote for the Floyd and put them on the musical map. It’s a sign of love for a friend that’s not there.
I fully concede that "Dark Side of the Moon" deserved every accolade it ever got as a true masterpiece... That being said, I still prefer this album. If I could explain why, I would. 🤷♂
Me too. Love them both, but love this one more. I think it's somehow more personal than DSOTM, less abstract and more immediate, if that makes any sense. I read somewhere that both David and Richard consider this their best work, and David felt the concept was more fully realized on Wish You Were Here than on DSOTM .
@christopherwinkler4451 that sounds right, yes. Another thing that might have influenced me, which has occurred to me since posting this, was the fact that it's got this mechanised sci-fi feel to it... I was already into sci-fi. 🤷♂️
@@christopherwinkler4451 Which is interesting since it was so much harder on the band to do this album than DSOTM. They started out uninspired, and casting about, and somehow ended up with another masterpiece. That said, if you asked me to choose between these two albums, I couldn't do it. These were the absolute pinnacle of the Pink Floyd arc.
Congratulations! You are no longer the person you were just a few days ago. You have been TRANSFORMED and will *_never_* be the same person you were just a few short days ago. Your experience of life will now always be larger
You are one of the great reviewers that doesn’t pause too much, concentrates on thw music and appreciates what you’re hearing. Awesome to watch you do your reviews. Animals was an awesome review as well as Dark Side of the Moon. Great job!
You have now experienced PF enough to really appreciate seeing them live. You will be very happy watching almost anything from their 1994 "Pulse" concert. Comfortably Numb, Learning To Fly, Sorrow, High Hopes, Run Like Hell, and Coming Back to Life to start! Enjoy the trip!
When you think about it, many bands put albums together meant to be listened in full. A story, if you will. It how they were put together, and it’s what the fans expected. Rush 2112 comes to mind. Led Zeppelin also.
Man, jamming this album (yes, real vinyl) with the Koss headphones blasting was a mind altering experience back then. I was 14 when this came out. It still brings all the same feelings. Truly timeless.😊
My mom gave up the living room. We were not allowed to play music in the house. Daddy bought us a pool table, and a big cased stereo. 5 or 6 kids, sitting around it, on the floor, and playing the albums….
You are absolutly right about this Album being like a story. This is Album Rock. The whole Album is a Masterpeice work of art that fits together. The same theme. Not just some random hits like most of todays albums. This was the era of Album Rock, And you would buy the record, and set aside an hour with your friends and a blunt and listen to it full blast in a dark room, or in my case, the Garage where me and my friends hung out. Imagine hearing this Album for the first time, a few beers, a fiew exotic herb products, Total Respect and Focus. This Album is where the band really started taking off in the music business, and felt the absense of the Band Creator and key figure Sid Barret, who lost his mind from too much acid in the 60's. They missed Sid, "Wished he were Here", wanted him to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", and expressed their disdain for the commercialism and tone deafness of the music industry.. Notice the album cover, the handshake of the Music Industry Executive burns the musician that shakes it. The Machine is the Music Industry.. Sit Down, Have a Cigar, You're gonna go far., Where've you been, We know where you've been.. Databyter
It isn’t just songs. Pink Floyd builds whole soundscapes. That’s why they are hitting you different than what you’re used to. They reach inside your brain on a primal, emotional level.
I have really enjoyed hearing these Pink Floyd albums again with you. Glad to see your positive reactions and to know someone from a younger generation loves Pink Floyd too. Thanks for posting! And you're right, they use fewer words than usual and more instruments, beautifully played. And they can tap your emotions very well. I agree, Dark Side is better overall. Have a Cigar is my fave from this one.
Check out Meddle next. It's the album that introduced Floyd to me and made me a devoted follower of the band. Was fortunate to see the Dark Side, Animals and Division Bell (Pulse) tours live. Nothing like a Pink Floyd concert. No one can touch 'em when it comes to stage production. Cheers....
Listening with you, I surprised myself by tearing up, then legit crying when the vocals first kicked in on Shine On. I felt that. It's been a very long time since I've listened to this album.
🎸💯 Kezzyboii, I'm REALLY enjoying being on this Pink Floyd cruise you're on! As so many others have commented, it's such a great experience watching & hearing you get to know this music! You know it just doesn't get much better than Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd! I truly hope your "addiction" to these groups lasts as long as mine & the others have! ☮️❤️🎶
Hahaha you fell down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole!!! I have been a fan of them for 30 yrs!!! I’ve seen them live loads of times the light effects at the concerts is amazing!!! It’s good to see someone checking them out for the first time!!!! Enjoy Kezzy!!!!
PF is one of those bands that the music holds you for years. Then you start hearing the lyrics and understanding the depth. I hope you come back to these albums over the years.
Great reaction man. Now you simply MUST listen to Animals, then The Wall. Pink Floyd albums are like story telling, it's journey of emotions and your'e just along for the ride. Cheers.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond= SYD Barrett their original Leader. ❤ When Syd was in good health, he'd refer to things he loved as DIAMOND 🔷️ When I saw this Live they had a Giant Diamond Center Stage, shining facets of light all over the venue, man I cried so hard, So emotional, SYD
Watching your reaction to Pink Floyd is heartwarming. You and a few others have restored my faith in the younger generation. I had the pleasure of experiencing this band when the “albums “ hit the record stores. I seen them live 3 times. If you ever get a chance to listen and watch a full concert, do it. To really get the message, you have to witness the show. Especially the wall.
Did a Sensory Deprivation Tank back in the day. On your 3rd visit, they allowed you to pipe in music of your choice. I chose THIS album. I was sober when I dropped into the tank. I honestly felt like I had dropped a tab when I got out. Strong suggest you try it!
the way you loved shine on you crazy diamond. i was waiting to see how welcome to the machine would blow your mind. welcome to the machine will always be my favourite pink floyd song, to think this was in the 70's, we got all this modern music and this album was truly groundbreaking! LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD!
On July 20, 1988, I experienced Pink Floyd live in Barcelona at Estadi de Sarrià during their ”A Momentary Lapse of Reason“ tour. It was an absolutely phenomenal concert and remains one of the greatest memories of my life.
no other Band can compare with Pink Floydm they are the untouchable Masters of Music, Emotion and Experience. Only Cassic Musi from J.-S. Bach or L. v. Beethoven are on the same Level. Pink Floyd is the greatest Band of all time. Greetings from Germany
You mentioned whoever does their music belongs in the Hall of Fame? THEY do their music! They compose, write the lyrics, co-produce and perform their own music. Dick Parry is the guest saxophonist on this and the 'Dark Side of the Moon' albums. As for the Hall of Fame, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. BTW, their live performances were off the charts. Consider taking a quick break and check out the live performance of the title track "Wish You Were Here" from the live 1994 Pulse concert video. Then get ready for the next masterpiece.. "Animals" 1977. Also, those are keyboards not horns. Richard Wright was a master of the keyboards/ synthesizer and set the mood for much of their best music. RIP🙏
Cool display this year at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Has a wall with several of the marionette characters, the airplane that crashed the stage during the Pulse tour.
If you know the story of Syd, this album hits harder than DSOTM. All these guys lost their very good friend because of drugs, and their feelings come through in this album. Gilmour has said he thinks of Syd every time he plays Wish You Were Here.
@tacorocky2012 yes. The whole thing was so tragic. At least he was able to live a quiet, sheltered life and didn't die young of an overdose like some other musicians.
@@jillgro I wish I could’ve seen Syd’s lyrics evolve like everyone else did, he he low key had good lyrics in his song in my opinion I love Gnome and bike
It was mostly from acid, largely to a group of people who overdosed him repeatedly, but also pure mental illness from exposure to the industry, crowds and fame.
Love watching people discover one of the greatest bands ever. This album was written about their former band mate Syd Barrett. Syd was a founding member and very close to Roger Waters. Early in their career, Syd, who was already doing a LOT of drugs, went to Paris for the weekend. He came back completely changed. I mean completely. His brain was gone, fried. Within months Syd was out of the band, which broke their hearts. Syd could no longer function. He tried to make a solo career which didn't work. He ended up moving back home with his mother who basically took care of him. Roger Waters made sure that Syd was provided for for the rest of his life. Syd was replaced in the band with David Gilmore (we're not worthy!) and the rest is history. The "crazy diamond" in the songs is Syd.
This album is a masterpiece full stop and a tribute to Syd Barrett- he was a founding member who wrote all the bands songs early on- over time- he did copious amounts of LSD and it drove him fairly mad. In the 60s during a early recording session they said he arrived at the studio after being MIA for several days and he looked as if someone had switched his light off- they said his eyes were so dark it seemed as if they were “black holes”- if you looked to long you might fear of falling in. That is where that lyric came from about eyes being “black holes in the sky”. They say way later, in the 70s after Syd had disappeared - they hadn’t seen him in years and he showed up while they were recording Shine on You Crazy Diamond!! Out of the blue! The sad thing is- is he was devastatingly handsome in his prime- but when he arrived at the studio, they didn’t recognize him- he was much heavier and had shaved his head AND eyebrows- Roger Waters is said to have been brought to tears when he saw him because this vibrant guy they once knew was barely recognizeable. The story of Syd is truly tragic-Syd lived out the rest of his life as a recluse and never wanted to be reminded of his former rock star status. I think he felt that fame was pressure- and he didn’t seem to enjoy that aspect- I think this is what “Have a Cigar” is about- the whole smarmy show biz thing he never dug too much. There are Syd Barrett documentaries on TH-cam and one on Amazon Prime called “Have you got it yet”- also a great audiobook on audible called “A Very Irregulsr Head- the life of Syd Barrett” by Ron Chapman if you ever wanna do a deep dive on Syd and how much he deeply effected the trajectory of the band. At the very end of the last shine on you crazy diamond you hear a short melody from “See Emily Play” which was the first hit Syd had written for them in the 60s. Pardon the marathon comment.
A note about the title "Shine on You crazy Diamond": It kind of spells out "SYD" who is Syd Barrett, the genius who cracked up c . 1968 after leading the band to the forefront of the London psychedelic scene, changing world culture forever, and the subject of the song. E.g. "come on you piper" maps back to their first album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn". The Floyd also likes to pepper in links to the Beatles here and there. In this case the title can also be read as a commentary of the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" which despite half-hearted protestations to the contrary spells out "LSD". On a related note John Lennon attended the Floyd's great all night outdoor concert in London as preserved in a documentary.
The song "welcome to the machine" is an hommage to Syd Barrett. He was one of the pink floyd first member and composer. He led the band unique creativity on multiple songs and albums. Unfortunately his mental issues were to hard to manage for the band and he was replaced by David Gilmour.
Wish You Were Here, Welcome to the Machine are both all time greats. Wish You Were Here is my pick but I couldn't hold it against anybody for having Welcome to the Machine as their favorite. It woke me up to realizing that almost everything we are is programmed into us and that we can reprogram ourselves. Have A Cigar is a personal favorite of mine. Feels cool, smooth and maybe even a bit funky near the end, my favorite transition ever. Shine On You Crazy Diamond are beautiful pieces dedicated to Pink Floyd's mad founder ( Syd Barret ) but can also serves as the listener's own personal epitaph for the things we've poured our heart and souls into and dedicated ourselves to completely that have caused us to be isolated and distanced from those around us. Made especially poignant given Barret's story being one of schizophrenia that ended up having to depart from the band he had helped to form despite the early albums he'd made with the band serving as inspiration in the 60's for Floyd's later 70's output. I do like Wish You Were Here a little more than Dark Side but Time, Great Gig In The Sky, Money and Us and Them was probably one of the biggest spiritual awakening of a mass population in the 20th century.
The second part of SOYCD is at the end of the album. The great Rick Wright (R.I.P.) on keys and synths. Ready for some Pink Floyd live? How about an early one: "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1971; then a later one: "Comfortably Numb" live at Pulse, 1994. After that you could go on reacting to their albums.
You listening to this for the first time takes me back to when i saw Floyd for the first time live in July 1975 Knebworth on the wish you were here tour. We hadn't heard anything fromthe album because that didn't get released until two months later. So we all saw and heard Floyd play soycd and have a cigar live first which doesn't happen very often i feel very privileged. I saw all their tours after that until the division bell tour 1994 (P. U. L. S. E).
I just watched your Dark side of the Moon reaction video and you've got a new subscriber here! This is my favorite Pink Floyd album although I love them all. This one just touches my soul in ways I can't explain. Love your reactions brother, keep them coming!
Whent down the pink floyd rabbit hole 2 years ago after hearing breathe in the air on the radio your in for a hell of a journey my friend keep them coming
It is always a pleasure to sit down and listen to this album with someone who appreciates good music. I was a teenager in England when this came out and a group of us would go back to somebody's place after the pub and skin up joints and share the experience and each other's company. I heard you say you loved instruments in your previous reaction to Pink Floyd - may I suggest the group "YES" from the same time period, starting with "The YES Album", considered one of the legends of prog rock.
My very good friend who I used to play wish you were here with and taught me so much about music and friendship passed away a few years ago. Every time I listen to it, I miss him. Here is another one for you Darryl!
45:00 They write the music themself. That’s what bands do. David Gilmour: Guitar, sometimes bass and lead singer. Comes up with most music Roger Waters: Bass, lead singer and comes up with most lyrics and themes. Rick Wright: Keys and singer Nick Mason: Drumms
this is pretty accurate but you’re selling Richard Wright a little short, no disrespect. the same way he and David traded vocals, they also traded coming up with the melodies to the songs and then the other would riff on top of that. to say he did the keyboard and piano parts is pretty accurate (to a point, until it got weird in the late 70’s), to say he *just* did the keyboards and sang undervalues his contributions to the band and their output. Nick Mason did pretty much just play drums tho, and he was damn good at that
They are both good. I too love the dirty muddy mix, but there are aspects of the newer one that slaughter the old mix. Either way you can't go wrong.@@ianfortier6796
This is why we took acid and sat around and listened to PINK FLOYD for hours! I saw them twice, once when Roger Waters was still in the band and once after he left. Then I saw Roger Waters on his solo tour. The music, the lasers, the production and knowing that half the crowd was trippin' like I was is indescribable! Acid in the '80s wasn't near as good as what we had in the '60s & '70s but if you took 2 tabs it was all good!🤯🤣❤️✌️
I think that a lot of PF fans are very happy to see you hooked. PF were like "musical shamans", food for the mind, revealing experiences WHILE not bein mystic or religious, which is a great performance. I bet they changed many people lives, for the best.
You will never see talent like this ever again. The sound that they produced with the instruments and equipment that they had at that time makes it a masterpiece.
Well before CGI, Photoshop, etc. Dude is straight up on fire, wearing nomex fireproof clothes under that suit, fire resistant gels and hoping to GOD they hit him with fire extinguishers before it all goes to shit. 50 takes. Dude was lit on fire 50 times to get that one picture. Insanity.
Thanks for letting us on your journey experiencing this for the first time. You can never go back and hear it again that same and I enjoy you having the same amazement as I did.
PINK FLOYD albums that you should hear as a whole are THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WISH YOU WERE HERE, MORE, ATOM HEART MOTHER, MEDDLE, ANIMALES and THE WALL
I would add Obscured By Clouds, The Final Cut, and The Division Bell to the essential full album list, but really all the albums should be listened to in full.
It's so great watching "youngsters" discover Pink Floyd for the 1st time! Their music is almost 50 yrs old but you'd never know because great music is timeless!
They were some bad dudes bro Pink Floyd times catalogue is like a piece of furniture in the sky. Representing times ..places. and memories 💥⚡✨💫☄️🕳️ Wishing you check the 1967 to 1972 albums
A four member band who writes their own SH&T!!! I know Youngblood. Today is different, I know. It’s cool bro, you’re there now. THERE’S NO GOING BACK!!!
Appreciate this. Noone is compared to Pink Floyd in my book. Just saw David Gilmour (singer/guitarist) last saturday at MSG. Greatest show! Great reaction to this album. It was a nice dedication to Syd that they did for this album. Yes, all sounds you hear besides the sax are done on keyboards by Rick. Haha hall of fame you say? Yup they are in the rock and roll HOF. Perfect band. Outstanding guitar work, killer baselines, funky drums and trippy keyboards along with lyrics that actually tell a story. Welcome fellow Floydian ❤️
Dude you say it makes you want to pick up an instrument... DO IT!!! The best thing any musician can ever do is inspire. You got the passion! Let it shine!
After you get to The Wall, don’t skip The Final Cut. Some floydians don’t like it, more of a Roger Waters album, but to be fair so was The Wall. And it is thematically a follow up. It’s got some pretty moving songs and Dave’s phoned in guitar work is phenomenal. Great reaction. Subscribing for more. 🤛😎👍 🔥🌳🌬️💨
Shine On You Crazy Diamond and (imo) Wish You Were Here are songs about former Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett, who suffered from mental illness and after their first or maybe second album wasn't mentally fit enough to lead a band. While they were recording and laying down Shine On You Crazy Diamond in the studio, an overweight bald dude showed up and was hanging out in the studio. At first nobody knew who he was and assumed he was a guest of one of the other guys. It was Barrett. He had let himself go and was almost completely unrecognizable and it was just a coincidence that he showed up while they were working on their tribute to him. Years later, Dave Gilmour put a Barrett song on their live album (Pulse) so that Barrett could get a boost in his royalty checks and not have to worry about money for the rest of his days.
Just wanted to say I enjoy your reaction. You have done a few Pink Floyd albums now. I have been listening to them since the late 60s. In your reaction to Dark Side of the Moon you mentioned you hadn't researched first and mentioned you wondered how they got the name. Well to answer for you they named the band by combining 2 Blues musicians names. Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Keep up the good work 👍
You are officially a fan! I am 43 and saw David Gilmour on 11/9/24 in NYC and Roger Waters 8/5/22 in Philadelphia. Ive been a lifelong fan, seeing them was a dream come true.
@johnroberthines7811 The whole album was performed as the second set each night of the In the Flesh tour in '77. Each night, they played Animals as whole (in a different order than what was on record), then played all of WYWH, with an encore of Money and Us And Them on almost every occasion. Late '75, WYWH, and Welcome To the Machine still weren't ready, so it was just Have A Cigar sandwiched between the two halves of SOYCD.
A long time ago my sister bought our very first stereo record player along with an early Queen album. The first time I heard stereo through headphones was a revelation. I rushed out and bought me the first stereo album I could get my hands on. I bought Relics because I liked the album cover. So took it home, donned headphones, and boy was i hooked there and then. Been riding Floyd ever since and nothing has surpassed them. I am 71 now and still hooked ......

I play a lot of PF. When Richard Wright died, I played Great Gig in the Sky and went throughout it.

“The Machine” and “Have a cigar” are both about the music industry when you make it big
You know when you stumble upon a TH-camr and have the need to watch all his videos? That’s how I feel about this guy!
Same thought fr fr
Yep, he's a real one..gives me hope for younger generation
"Back in the day, " LSD was the drug of the philosophers and dreamers amoungst us. This was the TRIPPIN MUSIC of our time.
“I feel like the music is speaking words” You totally get it!!
Yep.
🔥🔥
Every note Gilmour plays is poetry in musical form. Every note has a meaning and he doesn't do anything extra.
This is my favorite album ever, equally as good as DSOTM. There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing someone who likes this, experience it for the first time. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Sending good vibes ✌️
I agree!! I’m watching Kezzy listen for the first time and I love it!!!
Same Same Same😊💯
I literally just wrote the same message. It is soooo great to see a young person experience Pink Floyd for the first time.
#same!
Appreciate all of you 💪🏾💪🏾🔥
Comfortably numb from pulse concert live will blow you away!
Yes need to do this! Best solo you will ever hear
Definitely, and perhaps other tracks performed at Pulse 1994 too.
YES! The entire Pulse Concert.
Only after the studio albums. Pulse has that nice solo, but the shit isn't in the same galaxy as the recorded masterpieces. Period.
Iconic guitar solo😊!
The music industry. It's a machine.
Real musicians playing real instruments.
🔥🔥 I loved it
No triangles though.
@@RushfanUK LOL
What is a real instrument ? One built by a true Scotsman ?
Well, with a lot of help from 24-track recording studios … 🙂
They always had kick ass light shows that went perfect with their music!! So Epic!!
They should, they literally invented the live concert light show.
Soon you will be ready for their 23 minute long track Echoes, the studio version.
Do Echoes Live at Pompeii!
Studio first & then live
Echoes is a truly a journey by itself
Echoes last time played " Dave Gilmour live at Gdansk" **************************
My favorite!
I just have to say that EVERYONE has the potential to be a Pink Floyd fan. …All you have to do is listen to them, and you’ll become a fan.
Yeah you're in the rabbit hole now my man! Loving the reaction remember Animals next!
Animals is my favorite. It explains the human condition perfectly, which is the purpose of art.
The last few notes of this album is Richard Wright playing a snippet of melody from “See Emily Play” which is a composition Syd Barrett wrote for the Floyd and put them on the musical map. It’s a sign of love for a friend that’s not there.
ALL RECORDED ON TAPE REEL TO REEL, OLD SCHOOL RECORDING BACK IN THE DAY, BLOODY BRILLIANT MUSICIANS, FANTASTIC.
Fully agree. No one did the quality then. No one.
I read somewhere that both David and Richard consider this their best work, and David felt the concept was more fully realized on Wish You Were Here than on DSOTM
.
@christopherwinkler4451 that sounds right, yes.
It is so hard to pick a favorite album
Animals is my favorite and it hurts to make the comparisons as to why. Each album is like Stanley Kubrick tier of songs
Keep Talking needs to be in that conversation, as well.
All amazing songs too.
You’re doing it right. Floyd really needs to be listen to as albums at first. Or entire performances. Live at Pompeii will blow you away.
Databyter
Like so many Pink Floyd albums, there are references, tributes and homage to Syd Barrett. (RIP Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett 1946-2006)
Syd Barrett was a pioneer in his own right......I completely understand why Roger waters missed working with him. And wrote so many songs about him
Syd Barrett's solo stuff is amazingly surreal and gorgeous
Cheers....
definitely Meddle

Great reaction man. Now you simply MUST listen to Animals, then The Wall. Pink Floyd albums are like story telling, it's journey of emotions and your'e just along for the ride. Cheers.
That’s the right order.
It's about time someone mentioned The Wall. One of my favorites.
So excited to see you enjoy this for the first time! This album is such a journey❤️☮️
Thanks for the love 🖤💪🏾
I've been listening to Pink Floyd my whole life. It's so cool to watch someone who's never heard em before hearing for the first time!
the way you loved shine on you crazy diamond. i was waiting to see how welcome to the machine would blow your mind.
welcome to the machine will always be my favourite pink floyd song, to think this was in the 70's, we got all this modern music and this album was truly groundbreaking!
14 April 1994 Division bell tour @ Jack Murphy stadium had GA tickets was a sold out show, They had a huge disco ball that lit up the whole stadium.
If you know the story of Syd, this album hits harder than DSOTM. All these guys lost their very good friend because of drugs, and their feelings come through in this album. Gilmour has said he thinks of Syd every time he plays Wish You Were Here.
Jugband blues is heart breaking when you get the context
@tacorocky2012 yes. The whole thing was so tragic. At least he was able to live a quiet, sheltered life and didn't die young of an overdose like some other musicians.
@@jillgro I wish I could’ve seen Syd’s lyrics evolve like everyone else did, he he low key had good lyrics in his song in my opinion I love Gnome and bike
It was mostly from acid, largely to a group of people who overdosed him repeatedly, but also pure mental illness from exposure to the industry, crowds and fame.
Wish you were here is one of only a handful of songs that can make me cry !
THEY ARE THE 8th WONDER of THE WORLD !!!!!
The best Pink Floyd song ever, Shine on you Crazy Diamond.
This speaks about life in this masterpiece
Second single. The first was Arnold Layne
I'd forgotten about Piper at the Gates of Dawn, thanks for reminding me!
The song "welcome to the machine" is an hommage to Syd Barrett. He was one of the pink floyd first member and composer. He led the band unique creativity on multiple songs and albums. Unfortunately his mental issues were to hard to manage for the band and he was replaced by David Gilmour.
nothing but support from us pink floyd fans, happy to see you enjoy the ride!
Pompeii is so good
You listening to this for the first time takes me back to when i saw Floyd for the first time live in July 1975 Knebworth on the wish you were here tour.
I haven't heard this I a while. I forgot how amazing it is and hearing it again while I'm watching you hear it for the first time is sublime!
Comes up with most music
Roger Waters: Bass, lead singer and comes up with most lyrics and themes.
Rick Wright: Keys and singer
Nick Mason: Drumms
this is pretty accurate but you’re selling Richard Wright a little short, no disrespect. the same way he and David traded vocals, they also traded coming up with the melodies to the songs and then the other would riff on top of that. to say he did the keyboard and piano parts is pretty accurate (to a point, until it got weird in the late 70’s), to say he *just* did the keyboards and sang undervalues his contributions to the band and their output. Nick Mason did pretty much just play drums tho, and he was damn good at that
So glad you came back to PF!!!! keep going.... it's a great trip!

Acid in the '80s wasn't near as good as what we had in the '60s & '70s but if you took 2 tabs it was all good!🤯🤣❤️✌️
This turns 50 yrs old soon. Just as good now as it was new. Remember when you were young?
I think that a lot of PF fans are very happy to see you hooked.
PF were like "musical shamans", food for the mind, revealing experiences WHILE not bein mystic or religious, which is a great performance. I bet they changed many people lives, for the best.
You will never see talent like this ever again. The sound that they produced with the instruments and equipment that they had at that time makes it a masterpiece.
The cover art for the album is two business men shaking hands on a deal, and one of them is getting burned.
They did 50 takes a used a stuntman!
Insanity.
It’s fire can’t lie 🔥🔥
Thanks for letting us on your journey experiencing this for the first time. You can never go back and hear it again that same and I enjoy you having the same amazement as I did.
PINK FLOYD albums that you should hear as a whole are THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WISH YOU WERE HERE, MORE, ATOM HEART MOTHER, MEDDLE, ANIMALES and THE WALL
I would add The Final Cut, The Division Bell, and Obscured By Clouds to the complete album list.
I would add Obscured By Clouds, The Final Cut, and The Division Bell to the essential full album list, but really all the albums should be listened to in full.
I agree with both of you!!!!😂
And Ummagumma..
It's so great watching "youngsters" discover Pink Floyd for the 1st time! Their music is almost 50 yrs old but you'd never know because great music is timeless!

Literally shine on you crazy diamond made me buy an electric guitar or let me say, Gilmour in general. 😅 never played an instrument in my life before
After you get to The Wall, don’t skip The Final Cut. Some floydians don’t like it, more of a Roger Waters album, but to be fair so was The Wall. And it is thematically a follow up. It’s got some pretty moving songs and Dave’s phoned in guitar work is phenomenal.
Great reaction. Subscribing for more.

Keep up the good work 👍
This was our chill music before you were born. It doesn’t know age or generations.
You are officially a fan! I am 43 and saw David Gilmour on 11/9/24 in NYC and Roger Waters 8/5/22 in Philadelphia. Ive been a lifelong fan, seeing them was a dream come true.
This is my personal favorite Floyd album.....SO, SO FREAKIN' GOOD!!! THANKS for this one!!!!
Greetings from México, More of Pink Floyd please! New suscriber bro ♥️👌🏻
Thanks for the love bro 💪🏾💪🏾🔥
this album is basically a tribute to Syd Barrett.
You need to see it at pulse concert. They do the whole album and some you haven't heard yet. Its freaking fire!
From this album, they only do Wish You Were Here and part of SOYCD on the PULSE record.
100% it’s a great album! Delicate Sound of Thunder is another amazing live album of Pink Floyd.
Yes! Totally agree, also live in Gdańsk , their concerts brilliant
GREAT ! KEEP UP THE FLOYD! YOU DO THY REACTION AWSOME.ANIMALS. STAY ON THAT PATH, IF YOU WISH. 40 YEARS + AGO
