Thank you so much Phil ! , I've been watching many helpful video of yours, they are all very useful ! and I continue watching it more to improve my swing. I'm in Bangkok -Thailand and glad to receive your advice. Thank you indeed !
Hogan would be proud. Great instruction. Who ever thinks this is terrible advice is probably a flipper and has no idea how to hit the ball "heavy" ! Through impact you want that butt of the club pointing at your CG ( just below your belly button) and use your pivot to bring the club around to the finish. This equals longer straighter shots. Snead , Hogan, Sarazen, Jones, Nelson , the list goes on and on. They all did it.
Phil I just got your book..I read it twice and watched your videos. After 30 years of golfing and after implementing the Y I hit the ball better than I ever have..I didn't trust what you were saying at first and finally did it and shot a 42 on back 9..I love the fact that when things go wrong you can always go back to the positions of the y swing and get back on track
Also I think it explains what the club should be doing and that most people don't know this..the club swings level out in front and away from you..if you don't know this from a golfers perspective you would think you swing the club down in a straight line and that is very wrong
Please specifically advise what the Right Side means to. Is it only Right (whole) Arm , or Right Hand , or Right Hip , or Right Leg , or they all have to totally work together ... plz. Tks.
Phil, how and when did you come to realize "the club head" drops down automatically while you swing thru and around, per your method/instruction? I think you are a genius in finding this natural phenomena occurring during the swing. No one instructs nor teaches this to golfers trying to understand the golf swing. I don't think most teachers/instructors understand nor realize this also. When did you start playing golf? When did you come to realize this natural phenomena or law of physics in the golf swing??????
Well I'm not sure about law of physics and all but I came to this about 30 years ago. It was experimenting. Of course once you realize that the forward swing has 2 planes (down, around, up), which I detail in the 'Explanation' video starting at about 14:00 minutes, and you make contact in the around plane, it becomes easier.
Hi Phil, been watching your clever teaching of y swing.Have not tried any of your tips yet.I hope you are still in good health and are able bring some more to TH-cam soon.Would you say your swing is nearly stack and tilt method.I hope to try it out soon.
Robert Fitzgerald Oh god no. It’s simply a look at basics of square, plane, turn etc. Thanks for your comment but it’s all just down n dirty basics packaged with a twist. Ya I’m conjuring up something soon.
Not the driver specifically. True, but any change is always more difficult with the long clubs. The driver advantage is that, once you get it, it's an easy club to hit. (A little off line, OK; too far, too short, OK.) The move is the same for all 13 clubs. Hang in there!!!
But for ill agree that the Ty Cobb split grip drill is helpful for women and juniors or those that cannot hold and release the left arm lag you so wonderfully teach
Phil, I like your explanation of the downswing and turn through the ball. Not to hijack your site, but your thoughts on the downswing seem to be very similar to those of Mike Malaska. Do you agree? I think both of you are excellent teachers.
Thank you. A friend mentioned Malaska a few months ago; until then, I had not heard of his teachings. So maybe the downswing is pretty basic in itself - maybe that lots of us are doing it the same?
I do. The swing is the swing, right? Although I don't call it a 'method', rather a 'perception'. The method has been there a long time, no need to change. I would just like people to think of the swing this way. Simpler for all and easier to get a grasp of plane, square etc. Easier on instructors too in analyzing especially. I may do something on putting tho. I think I have an excellent meth... er, perception. Request it at theyshapedotcom.
... Is with soft wrists , an active left hip there is no need to restore the circle with right arm & hand ... Gravity does it for you... The club head has an effective weight of 38 lbs or more ... As you teach a tug of the left arm an active lower plus soft wrist the club shaft will restore the circle by the forces of gravity

Thanks for the compliments !! Go ahead and send me a video if you would like.
Phil Hurrle I will..do I send it to your email on your website?
Philip Spelson yes
You're right, the 'right side' is hand, arm, hip, leg combined. As you go thru the ball it starts with the leg then the hip then the arm/hand.
Never hit the ball so we'll after using this and also the video with right thumb and right pointer out of swing. Thanks again !!

@@peejay3 Thanks, Phil. Too bad I did not know you 30-years ago. Hope you are doing well.
Does this work for chipping, pitching and bunker shots?

Great instruction. Do you have any videos using the driver? The longer driver shaft is a bit tricky to swing unlike the irons.

Can u tell us how to drop club in a slot before u rotate the body? Is there any video on that?

What a gem !!
Sir my ball flight has some hooks . Can u tell me why? I am hitting good otherwise with this swing.
Hey Phil in full steep does the swing look different?
Not sure what you exactly mean.
@@peejay3 in full speed
@@Magicbricklayer OMG I hope not!!
Where do u live sir I need lesson from you. Thanks

The two of you are definitely teaching it in the correct manner. Are you working on any new videos?
Thanks. Yeah, use your energy to move around, not down. Got my book? Go to my site, hit the contact link, request it and you get it for free.
hey Phil, do you still teach this method? any new videos?
