I doubt she was the intended object of that "Jaquen`s" mission, just an incidental encounter and probably he`s the same faceless that turns up in Oldtown in the books later. The "Jaquen" that in the TV series she meets in Bravos is not the same person, just another faceless using the same identity adopted because she was banging on the door and using that name.

The Faceless Men don't take names they are not meant to. Arya saved 3 names from death in that cart, so Jaqen gave her 3 names for death at Harrenhall. There is a strict code and they don't fear capture or death -- they live by, and carry out their code.
I wonder though, who Jaqen was in King's Landing to kill.
Also in the book he gave her a coin and told her to exchange it at the temple, so he definitely intended for her to join the faceless men or to have the opportunity if she chose it. I think this was kind of in the show too right?

@@yyz4761 I never really saw him as a "bad guy". He was just extremely bitter and hated the world so he lashed out, like a hound does. He thought knights were the righteous and finds out they're mostly all pieces of shit, and then his brother who disfigured and nearly killed him becomes one and everyone speaks highly of him while looking down on Sandor because of his disfigurement. That's why I always figured he kept saying "Killing is the sweetest thing there is". It's his way of getting back at the people of the world who made it the way it is, cruel and shitty, and who also treat him like he's a monster. It's also one of the few ways he has control over things. I think that's why he and Bronn were so at odds. They have the same view of the world but go about it in different ways. They're both realists, but Sandor sees the world for what it is and hates it and nearly everything about it, while Bronn sees the world for what it is but is able to make the best of it and even uses it to his advantage.
The Hound always felt very nihilistic, and that even gets reinforced when he actually makes an effort to change and starts to think maybe the world isn't so shitty and there's good places and people still, and look what happens, the place gets burned to the ground and every one of the good people murdered. It just strengthened his belief that the world was horrible and if you're good then it's going to kill you.
He wasn't really bad, he just saw what the world does to good people (Takes advantage of them, kills them, maims them. He was once a good person, too, as a child and his own brother severely burned him over a fucking toy.) and goes out of his way to NOT be good to avoid weakness and death.

They were the two most cathartic - most of the people on the list well and truly deserved it, but they'd only hurt one or two people and/or Arya wasn't the one to off them. Walder Frey and Littlefinger were responsible for thousands of dead Northerners, including her brothers and parents, so it was great that she managed to avenge them.

@@sparkyadondavid Dan & David, the lead producers and writers, said several years ago (around season 4, iirc) that they knew the story they were going to tell, they knew in broad strokes how it would end, and how many episodes they needed -- they had been aiming at 70 episodes, but were now looking at extending it to 73, so season 7 would be 13 episodes, maybe split in two parts. That was, what, five or six years or so ago. They had each episode lined out around that time.
So it wasn't that they had 6 episodes left and had too much story to fit into them, it was that they knew the story they wanted to tell and had planned number of episodes after that. Everything left out in season 8 was done so intentionally, not being part of the story they wanted to tell. Instead of thinking of the last six episodes as "the last season", the one final piece out of eight pieces, think of them as episodes 68-73 out of 73. Plot and character development started wrapping up much earlier. The first 67 episodes weren't just all build-up and set-up. It's all one long story. They didn't have 6 episodes to wrap up everything, they had 33 since season 4.
People are setting themselves up for disappointment by, at this point in a story, expecting the plot to move as slowly or with as detailed character development as earlier in the story.

Deep down the hound was probably just a playful peaceful Bear before everything went wrong.

The Hound proves himself the better warrior, the only thing keeping the mountain alive is the curse/magic.
Otherwise, he’d have been killed pretty easily by his younger brother.
Then, Realising that the Mountain cannot be killed with steel he plunges them both into fire. Conquering his own fear and ending the “life” of the only unstoppable warrior.

      @Libellulaire 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

What ? Arya had like... zero character development. Even Jon Snow had more than her, and yet Jon had basically been your typical great hero since day one.
From the beginning until the end she was never a lady, but a wild girl who dreamt about explorations and adventures, who wanted to learn how to fight and actually go on the battlefield. She was well aware that fighting and death were terrible (unlike Sansa who completely trusted the romanticized versions she read in books), and Arya had probably the biggest plot armor possible with Sam. They both should have died like 50 times but didn't purely because of plot. People talk about Dany surviving solely because of plot armor, but you actually see how things lead one to another in Dany's story, how she makes deals, agreements and fights to achieve things. Arya and Sam survive everything that happens to them because of random things like: "Oh, turns out that thing my friends randomly found was dragonglass, one of the two _only_ things that can kill a White Walker," or "Good thing the only non-dumbass man arrives right on time in Harrenhal to realise I am a girl and prevent me and my friends from being tortured !" or "Wow, isn't it neat that despite me never being shown to be particularly kind or helpful, especially towards dangerous, creepy criminals, I end up helping the _one_ man who is a highly skilled assassin ?"
Like come on, I love Arya (and Sam), but she never had any development in the show, she stayed the same until the end, and while her journey was interesting because she met so many different people and showed us unique places, it was often very random because of her plot armor.
To me it's kinda funny that you talk about Arya's character development and praise it, and then say how you hated Sansa until the end when they finally had to throw in our face "Btw, Sansa is great now" despite the fact we could start seeing Sansa really grow and change right after her father's death, still in S1. But it is actually not surprising at all since most people seem to think Sansa started developing only after like season 5 or 6, when she actually started right at season 1.
The end of S1 is when Joffrey torments her by forcing her to look at the heads of her dad and septa on spikes, she does it without ever blinking, even asks him for how long she has to watch (which pisses him off), he tells her he'll also give her Robb's head and she replies "Or maybe he'll give me yours" and looks him in the eyes, once again without blinking. Then she has the idea of pushing him off the bridge to kill him... but the Hound stops her and saves her life in doing so. A completely naive, dumb little girl wouldn't be able to do that. She was already growing inside back then.
And constantly throughout the other episodes we see her endure the pain, she lets him break her body if it pleases him but she never lets him break her mind, and she always stands firm and straight, she keeps her dignity, despite the fact she has literally nothing going for her. The only difference is that because of the situation she was in, Sansa's development was a lot more gradual, and I feel like a lot of people never really paid attention to what was really going on around her so they never realised it.
Kind of like how everybody is "Duh, the Hound is obviously on your side, so let him help you !" but he isn't even really, and he isn't even the best chance at life she has. It's the same with Tyrion, people are like "Sansa is such a dumbass for not accepting him" when he's a Lannister, his whole family has been ruining her family and other families... of course she wouldn't trust him.

With out doubt we travel the path with Arya in GOT from a very excitable and frighten little girl to a very cold, skilled, determined and logical killer with out any feelings at all. Accepting her character had the luxury of seeing that changed over six TV series, I believe it is one of the best changes in character I have ever seen. In no way do I compare my self to Arya but as once a very troubled young boy, teenager and young man with a very emotive personality caused me many problems as I grew up and only later in life due to those 'bumps', I was fortunate to wise up and now consider my self totally different to what I once was. Along that path, I became a teacher in the 1980s and 1990s and I am proud and know I changed quite a few troubled teens to take a different and wiser path. My point !!.. sadly at schools and society generally we don't teach the fact that we all 'change' as we grow up and it is only the people we meet, the conflicts and failures plus something inside us, that learns and changes us, that makes us wiser and better humans. In my time of teaching we had to do 'Pastoral' lessons using absolute rubbish ie political correctness materials with the intent to socialize pupils. I am sure it will be seen rather perverse of me (ie the violence Arya dishes out) to say so, if GOT had been around in my time when teaching I would have played much of scenes of Arya in HOW she changes and used that for discussion purposes for kids to appreciate that they WILL change which at that age, they simply cannot conceive as I did at their age. To change you need to know you can and appreciate the concept of time, growth age, Arya in GOT does that. And her most well known quote " Not today" very simply and poignantly states that.

A lot of the death scenes were rather satisfying, like Tywin and Littlefinger. But the one thing I really wish they'd actually included was that after the red wedding, Lady Stark rose from the dead as a Revenant and she was going to kill all of house Frey for their betrayal. It was in the books but they never translated it into the show. I think it would have helped to emphasize that there IS an element of the supernatural in their world (beyond the white walkers) and that when an oath is given to the Gods, it's to be taken seriously. Her family had guest right, sharing of salt and bread, which is an OOOOLD tradition, even here from the middle ages. In that world however, it's held as sacred. And Walder Frey broke that guest right big time. There's only so much you can do to spit in the Gods eyes before Karma comes to collect it's due.

He uses chaos to climb the ladder of society, and when the Others invade and the Long Night falls, the chaos of it all will allow someone (probably Sansa) to depose him, where I hope he will die to the Others or Wights as a beggar travelling down the road essentially, all of his ladder-climbing pissed away while he's left with nothing, because of the chaos of the Others ironically

I mean he did that because he promised Cersei to find Arya and Sansa so by selling her to the Boltons he could tell Cersei that Boltons plotted against her and now they are using Sansa to claim the north if he hadn't sold her he would lose his head because he would be unable to keep his promise, what failed was he was unaware how Ramsay is a cruel sadistic sociopath who would torture Sansa even try to rape her, he planned to get permission from Cersei to kill Boltons gain support from John Snow and wipe them out then marry Sansa and become the king of the north sadly for him and for Bolton, Ramsay screwed them both lmao

Did no one realize that Joffrey died from the PIE not the wine. That is why he said that it was dry, many old time poisons contained many things that absorbed moisture.

I always wondered what jaqen h'ghar's true intentions were in training Arya Stark, knowing from the very beginning that she wasn't ready to give up her identity.

Darren Frey i am with all of my heart that he was Syrio Forrel, but mind tells me that he simply ahd taken intrest in Arya. I think that he had some profits from her going rampage. And also, she never said that she does not believe in the god of many faces. She simply believes in another way. Perhaps he hopes to make some kind of side branch of his religion with Aryas philosophy of life, which involves live and let live philosophy.

Cersei for ordering Lady put to death as well. Arya already hated Cersei even before Ned was arrested.
