    Another good interview and just based upon this conversation alone, Rachel seems like a fantastic representative of the Recovering From Religion support organization.
    I like how she mentioned that RFR is also a resource for those who are and intend to remain religious but are having some issue that they need to talk through.

    I like that both Rachel & Tim both offer a quick frog anecdote at the start of video. 🐸
    If Christianity uses a fish symbol the frog can be atheist symbol.
    The frog is capable of living in water , but also capable of living on ground . Making the frog a much more versatile creature capable of seeing a vastly bigger picture of the world.
    in comparison the fish must remain submerged in only one.

    • @FoursWithin
      @FoursWithin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fish live in an environment
      where they are drenched in a material they can't fathom.
      And yet entirely lack the imaginative powers to envision any other kind of existence.
      And equally unimaginative Christians insist every belief system, every worldview except theirs is false, wrong, and EVIL.
      Sounds very fishy.
      Long live the frog !!
      Praise be to our
      distant cousin Triadobatrachus

      But think of a fish that swims in the great rivers and oceans of this planet and the frog who spends most of his or her life croaking in a stagnant swampy slimy pool.

      @@joegarry8983
      The fish references by Jesus come mainly from the sea of Galilee though. Not a river or an ocean but a medium sized lake ,at 33 mile in circumference.
      Frogs are very adaptable. They don't all live àin swamps. There are at least 124 species capable of living at the beach. Some live in trees, some live in desert.
      However your characterization of swamps as stagnant shows a lack of knowledge on wetlands. Stagnation is a minority and not a sign of a healthy wetland.
      And the world needsmore swamps - and bogs, fens, marshes, and other types of wetlands.
      These are some of the most diverse and productive ecosystems on Earth. They also are also irreplaceable tools for slowing the pace of climate change and protecting our communities from storms and flooding.

    • @joegarry8983
      @joegarry8983 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FoursWithin As matter of fact I am the proud owner and occupier of many acres of bogs and wet lands and manage and enjoy them as nature and wild life sanctuary's, frogs included, so I am not totally ignorant as to the ecological values of wet land environments and habitats and the sea of the Galilee is not the only little sheet of water in the world where fish exist.

    To be fair, I don't remember my clades and families either. All I remember is the general concept that organisms are divided and sub divided and scientists try to find common ancestors among the different living things.

    When you leave on relgion you just embrace a different belief system based on faith. Only the true believers are unaware of their faith in the unproven.

    So interesting. I like the question about what are you going to do if you get to the pearly gates and find out you are wrong. What will I do then? I have thought about this. I will apologise to God that I over estimated him, I guess I was wrong about his love and goodness. I could just never believe that a true "God" could really have the pretty awful nature he is portrayed as having in the Bible - my assessment was wrong, he is that awful, my bad🤷‍♀️
    Secondly, Christians need to think about what if THEY are wrong and it is actually a different deity they confront after death - by their own way of thinking, they had better hope that particular deity has far more compassion towards them than the God they actually believe in.
